July 28 has been set as the date for the Workers’ annual chicken barbecue. It is to take place at the home of Charles Long. —NW—-WSCS-LYDIA CIRCLE MEETS The WSCS — Lydia Circle met July 14 in the fellowship hall of the Methodist church. Mrs. Lucy Fribley and Mrs. Mabel Denbo were hostesses and along with Mrs. Paul Kline. Mrs. Kathryn Coy, and Mrs. Gordon Perry presented the program entitled “Latin American Leader’s Report on Methodism South of the Border.’’ Light refreshments were served. * \ -NWCHARM ‘N’ CHATTER CLUB ATTENDS PLAY In place of its regular meeting, the Charm’n’Chatter club attended a play at the Enchanted Hills Playhouse. Members and several husbands saw a presentation of “I Do. I Do.’’ I —NW— Efficient Homemakers Attend ‘Cabaret’ The Efficient Homemakers club members, plus husbands and friends saw “Cabaret” at the playhouse in Warsaw. This activity replaced the July club meeting. ' —NW— Church of God News Eighteen of the church’s youth went to Cedar Point in Ohio, Thursday. The youth-sponsored auction, held Saturday, cleared an estimated SSOO. It is reported that nearly everything donated was sold. Four 11-year-olds will be in youth camp at Yellow Creek Lake this week. —NW—COMMUNITY NEWS Mrs. Roy Spry, Mrs. Myrtle Greisinger. and Mrs. Russel Engle accompanied Mrs. Hazel Miller to the Pythian Home. Lafayette, where she will reside. Mrs. Miller, a former Pythian, has been a resident of North Webster and Huffman Lake. The Ormel Kline family is expected to be family and friends in the North Webster area for two weeks beginning the 2d of August. The Klines, having moved tOf Florida, return on vacation each summer. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Grubb and children, Timmy and Tammy, who are spending the summer at Camp Asherwood near Wabash, called on the Orva Millers and the J. L. Klines Saturday afternoon Mrs. Arnold Culver recently underwent minor surgery at the Whitley County hospital. Mrs. Walter Pletcher and Wanetta of Syracuse called on the Orva Millers Saturday night. A card shower is planned for Mrs. Jacob (Rosa) Click who had a birthday last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Slabach and children, of the Shipshewana area, visited the family of Mrs. Slabach’s brother Orva Miller Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Ruth Rothenberger, Mrs. Rhoda Mock, Mr. and Mrs. Thurlow Mock, and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Martindale. Robert Shipley of Secrist Lake entered the Goshen hospital Sunday for major surgery this week. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Harvey, Findlay, Ohio, arrived Saturday for a five-day visit with the Rev. Lewis Thomas family. Rev. Thomas is Mrs. Harvey’s son. Report Given On Accident Victims Mrs. Sandra Ball of r 1 North Webster and daughter. Linda, eight years of age, have been released from Murphy Medical Center, according to Mrs. Ball’s mother. Mrs. Lester McGriff. However, Mrs. Ball will be returning for extensive facial surgery. Another daughter, Anita, 11, remains a patient at Parkview hospital, Fort Wayne, where she underwent surgery Tuesday morning. More surgery will be needed. An older daughter, Susan. 14, is still unconscious in the intensive care ward at Parkview. A passenger in the Ball car, Joni Rupprecht. 14, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Rupprecht of r 1 Pierceton, remains a patient at Murphy Medical Center for treatment of a fractured left arm and pelvis suffered in the crash. Two-Car Crash » The injuries were all received in a two-car crash at the intersection of state road 13 and old road 30 shortly after 10 o’clock on July 10. Harry M. Strong, 57, of Williamson, W. Va., driver of the other car, was killed in the accident and his wife, Mary Margaret, 50, was admitted to Parkview hospital in the intensive care unit. Police report the Ball vehicle was eastbound on old road 30 and the Strong car was northbound on state road 13 at the time of the crash as Mrs. Ball reported her brake pedal went to the floor in her attempt to stop at the intersection. The Ball car struck the Strong auto broadside and both cars careened off the highway on the northeast corner of the intersection. Officials measured a 76-foot skid for the Ball car and 115-foot for the Strong car following impact. Both cars were termed a total loss. CLASS OF ’35 HAS REUNION The 1935 graduation class of Ligonier high school held its 35th year class reunion, Saturday evening, July 11th, at a local case with 38 members and guests present This included 21 of the original 30 graduates who are still living. Honored guests were former superintendent, O. R. Bangs and Mrs. Bangs and former teacher, Miss Lucille Palin, all of Ligonier. Bernard Renner, who headed the reunion committee, was presented a gift for his work and also surprised with a beautiful cake, as his birthday came on the day of the reunion.
