Swimsuit: Selection And Care A new swimsuit may be your major wardrobe purchase this summer, so choose it when you have a lot of time, says Mrs. Billie Ellsworth, extension clothing and textile specialist at Purdue university. Don't take a chance on a hasty selection that results in a poorly constructed, poorly fitting suit that does little to enhance your figure assets. When you find a suit you really like and one that meets your budget requirements, try it on. Next try some “action tests” for comfort in stretching. sitting, and bending. These will help determine if the suit is correct in sire and fit. When you have the suit on, be sure the shoulder straps don’t land and that fastenings are secure. Examine the stitching. There should be a double row of stitches, rather than a zigzag stitch around the legs to prevent chafing and riding up. There should be safely stitching at stress points, especially at legs and back seams. Most suits should be lined in the bra and crotch areas and the bra should be constructed as carefully as any undergarmet. A white or light colored suit should have a shadow proof panel. Check the label too. Make sure the suit is colorfast, completely washable, and will neither shrink nor stretch out of shape. Most labels will give pecific care instructions, but the following are some general instructions for al' suits: Rinse suit in cool or luke warm water after each wearing. Never wash in a machine. Suds in a mild soap if heavily soiled. Remove excess moisture by rolling suit in a towel. Smooth suit into shape and hang in the shade to dry. Wear suit again only after it’s thoroughly (fry. Hang on a hanger between wearings. Never stuff in a drawer.
MILK: A SUMMER COOLER When the sun’s heat brings family members looking for a cool drink, quench their thirsts vith a cold glass of milk. Beides being refreshing, milk sup>lies vitamins and minerals so mportant for healthy bodies, says Miss Marcile Allen, extension foods and nutrition specialist at Purdue uftiversity. Milk is the best known food source of calcium which helps build and maintain bones and teeth It also helps muscles and nerves function properly and aids in. the normal clotting of blood. In every, eight-ounce glass of milk, you get from one-fourth to one-third of jour day's need for calcium. Milk is also an important source of protein. Just two eightounce glasses of milk supply about 30 per cent of the daily recommendations of protein for a woman 18 to 35 years of age. The same amount supplies about 25 per cent of the daily recommendations for an adult man. The natural fat of milk, or butterfat, contains the fat-soluble nutrients—vitamin A, D, E. and K. When the fat is removed, the fat-soluble vitamins go with it, but fluid skimmed milk is often fortified to riplace vitamins A and D. In addition, milk is moderately low in calories. One cup of fresh whole milk contains about 160 calories. A cup of skimmed milk contains about 90 calories. For normal health and growth, Miss Allen recommends these daily amounts of milk: Three cups for children, four for teenagers. and two for adults. So the next time your family needs a thirst quencher. try milk—refreshing, delicious, nutritious.

Boat-Camping Is Double Fun
Ever been boating and felt that life is one big process of hitching, hauling and unhitching? Or been camping and suddenly realized that once the tent is pitched and the fire started there isn’t much to do but sit around and watch other people tents and starting fires? Well, the Evinrude News Service says that life doesn’t have to be like that for the boatman or the camper. The trick is fbr the boatman to become a camper, and vice versa. The combination is a natural. Simply hitch up the trailer and load the car, haul away to any one of a growing number of shorefront camp grounds, unhitch and go fishing while your wife struggles with the tent. Make a Home Base You can make your home base either the campsite or the boat. Hundreds of lakes throughout the country await exploration from the .water. In more remote areas, the neat camper is always welcome at alifiost any point along the shore. Or set a permanent campsite for the duration Os your stay and dart around the water fishing, hunting, skiing or just relaxing. Self-contained camping units are on the increase and most can easily tow the boat. For the boatman just starting down the camping trail, here are some necessities to remember: trencn shovel, small dust broom, plenty of line, basic cooking utensils, frying and sauce pan, hand axe and a sharp cutting knife, a waterproof tarp for unexpected rains, and sweaters for the evening chill. Reminders for Campers And for campers who are just beginning the boating routine, remember several points: Make sure your trailer has the proper hitch. Don’t load your boat as though it were a moving van. It will readily accommodate the tent, sleeping bags. and other soft, flexible objects. Use your tarp to tie them down. Be sure you take along a life jacket or floatation seat cushion for each member of the family. Remember a first aid kit, flashlights (test them first), and, of course, a good anchor. The boat-camper has to be more concerned with space than the non-boatman, especially if the trip involves boating from campsite to campsite. Your boat can carry' just so much. In any case, look around for handy webbed or canvas bags with drawstrings for stowing small things. Choose your foods carefully keeping storage in mind as much as edibility. In sum. boatmen think of camping as away to eliminate the time and effort of hitching and hauling. And campers: consider boating as away to make a fun day.

to replace the Vawter Park Hotel which burned on June 4.1918. On July 4, 1943, Boytz sold the hotel to Jap Jones and it continued in operation until October 1964, soon after Mr. Jones sold the hotel and fire once again destroyed the building.
Select Prop To Match Boat The propeller is one of the most important parts of an outboard motor. Your on-the-water activities should dictate the selection of the proper propeller. A propeller is also one of the most misunderstood parts of an outboard. Pitch is the at which the blades are attached to the hub expressed in inches of water travel. Theoretically, a propeller with an 11 inch pitch will travel 11 inches through the water every time it revolves. In practice, however, the distance is less due to slippage. Propeller sizes are designated by two numbers sucn as 10x11. The nrst number is the diameter and the second the pitch. As pitch or blade angle is increased, more power is needed to move the propeller through the water. This being the case, it becomes apparent that the amount of pitch will be a controlling factor in how’ fast the engine can turn. Since” all outboafds are designed to be operated within specific revolutions per minute (rpm) ranges, it is very important for best performance and longer engine life that the propeller be properly matched to the boat and load combination. It all comes down to the fact that there is no such thing as a standard propeller. That’s why outboard manufacturers offer a choice of propellers w'ith the purchase of their larger engines. What is perfect for a boat intended tor water skiing requiring maximum thrust will not be suitable for an identical boat used for fishing. '• In general, it can be said that a high pitch propeller is used for- speed or on a lighter boat. A low pitch propeller is used for power or on a heavier boat or one carrying a heavy load. The only way •to be sure your boat is properly propellered is to check the engine rpm with a tachometer. If your ooatmg rig isn’t giving you the kind of performance you expected, start by checking the propeller. On smaller engines, it’s hot too important but $ with medium and high horsepower motors, changing a propeller can make a big difference.
