Boating Safety Classes At Lakeland Youth Center

A class in boating safety will be held at the Lakeland Youth Center. Syracuse, sponsored by Flotilla 22-28 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. Registration will be June 29 at 7 p.m. The class will be under direction of past commander Dennis A. Jones of r 3 Syracuse. At completion of the four lesson course, certificates will be presented to all persons successfully completing the course The auxiliary is the civilian arm of the Coast Guard, dedicated to the promotion of safety in recreational boating It was created by an act of

There is no age limit although under eight years of age may have difficulty understanding terminology. Fundamentals of small boat handling including use of rope and most useful knots will be covered along with enough basic information about types of hulls, construction and power to enable the novice to select the best boat for his needs

Basketball Underway At North Webster The annual Mermaid Festival basketball' tournament is underway at North Webster with eliminations being held each night at 7 p.m. A total of 17 teams are entered in the competition. Finals will be played on Friday with trophies going to the first place team and the runner-up. - Beware of the person who smiles all the time.

Alan Baumbaugh On President’s List At I. T. Alan E. Baumbaugh son of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Baumbaugh. r 2 Syracuse, was named to the “president’s list” at Indiana Institute of Technology’, Fort Wayne, for the spring quarter of the current school year. To receive this academic distinction, a student must eam a grade average of 3.50 or higher, out of the 4.0 grading system, during any academic quarter, and must have been enrolled for at least 12 quarter hours of college credit courses during the quarter, with a minimum cumulative average of 2.0. Alan is a freshman at Indiana Tech, where he is majoring in physics. He was a 1969 graduate of Wawasee high school. MISS ESTHER BEER ENTERTAINS GUESTS Mr. and Mrs. George Lambert of Wichita. Kans., were week end guests of Mrs. Lambert’s sister. Miss Esther Beer of r 1 Milford. Sunday guests were Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Schuch of Bremen. The Lamberts had visited their son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Yergler. at Park Forest. 111., and their son. Dr. Donald Lambert at Kansas City, Kans., before coming to Milford. They left for their home Monday morning. Mrs. Lambert is the former Elsie Beer and also a sister of Mrs. Schuch.
