FATHER - SON BANQUET HELD SATURDAY The Father-Son Banquet of the Calvary Baptist church was held Saturday at the Harold Ginter’s home They enjoyed playing volleyball and soft ball. Ron Taylpr and Doug Hoffert were in charge of the games. Twentyfour fathers and sons enjoyed home made ice cream, cake, cookies and strawberries. home of Mrs. Byrd Irwin last Thursday afternoon. „ Mrs. Chris Kammerer and Mrs. David Gosser gave the devotion and the lesson on the prison, the individual and the community. The circle leader Mrs. Herman Ginther presided over the meeting. During the business meeting they discussed their booth at the fair and Leesburg Days. Twelve members answered the roll call "A poem suitable to this time of year.’’ CLASS OF 1960 HAS REUNION The tenth reunion of the 1960 graduating class was held Saturday evening at a Warsaw restaurant The social hour was
from 7-8 p.m. with a smorgasboard being served at 8 p.m. After the dinner meal there was a short business meeting conducted by the president Glen “Chet” Kammerer. They voted to have another class reunion in five years. The vice president. Will Shroyer, read the present statistic and the 20 year hence. Mrs. Marjorie Hepler acted as secretary and Mrs. Nelson Sutton acted as treasurer. After the meeting they enjoyed visiting and had cake and ice cream. There were 35 present with 17 being members of the graduating class. Robert Teeples Honored On 25th Anniversary The children of Bob and MaryAnn Teeple held a reception in their honor on Sunday. June 14. The reception honored their silver wedding anniversary. The table was beautiful with a two-tiered cake, punch, nuts and mints, silver coffee server and all the trimmings. The couple was married by Rev Elwood „Dunn on June 10. 1945 at the Warsaw United Brethren church Mr and Mrs Teeple are the parents of five children: Rod. a sixth grade teacher at Washington school in Warsaw and married to the former Beth Ann Moone of Wapello, Iowa; Nancy who died on September 17, 1947; Jerry, a senior at Grace college who will be married to Joy Johannsen of Middletown, Conn., on August 15; Sara, a senior at Warsaw who is working this summer at the Alfran nursing home; and Barbara, a seventh grader at Leesburg. Guests present were from Warsaw, Fort Wayne, Nappanee, Goose Lake, Leesburg and Oswego. FATHERS DAY DINNER HELD A Father’s Day dinner was held at the C. R Teeple home on Sunday, June 21. Present were Mr and Mrs. Ray McCartney, Mr and Mrs. Jerry McCartney. Marcia and Jay, Mr. and Mrs Melvin Wurick, Miss Joy Johannsen and the children of the Teeples. Rod and Beth celebrated their first wedding anniversary. Homemakers Club Has June Party The Leesburg Homemakers club met last Wednesday. June 17, with Mrs. Chris Kammerer. The roll call “Do you know the face amount of your Life Insurance’*” was answered by the 14 members present.
The meditation was given by Mrs. Robert Bishop. The lesson was given on Life Insurance by Mrs. Max Anglin. Mrs. Charles Smoker gave the secretary report and Mrs. Robert Bishop gave the treasurer report. Mrs. Chet Albert gave a report on the homemakers conference held at Purdue. Mrs. Hazel Kline a member of the club also attended the conference. During the business meeting club members discussed the ice cream social to be held during the Leesburg Days. FATHERS HONORED The Calvary Baptist church of Oswego honored the fathers Sunday. The oldest father present was Alfred Kuhn; youngest father. Ed Teeple; the father with the most children, Ron Taylor. REHEARSAL DINNER HELD A rehearsal dinner was held Friday night after the rehearsal for the wedding of Kay Noel and her fiance Robert Ahms of Milford. There were 20 friends and relatives who enjoyed the meal at a North Webster restaurant given by the bridegroom’s parents, Mr, and Mrs. Don Ahms of Milford. The bride’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Noel of Leesburg. The couple was married Saturday evening. TRAVELING LEAGUE LOSES TO WHITLEY Saturday afternoon the traveling league played at South Whitley. South Whitley beat Leesburg 6 to 2. They were rained out last Wednesday night. The Traveling league is playing at the Mermaid Festival. Mondaynight they beat Pierceton 8-2. Kenny Flotz had a home run for Leesburg Girls’ Softball Team Plays On Friday The score of the girls soft ball team that played last Fridaynight was 19 to 9. The winning teams coaches are Mrs. Baier and Mrs. Perry. Coaching the losing team was Mrs. Norman Fawley and Mrs. Herb Timmons. Kim Hartman of the losing team hit two home runs. The next game is Friday evening. June 26. ATTENDING CHURCH CAMP Those who will be attending church camp of the United Methodist church next week are Kathie Gosser. Chicago; Julie Powell of Clunette and Linda Pound. Rev. and Mrs. Gosser and their neice Kathy Plummer of Greensburg. Pa., will be going as counselors- They will leave Sunday after church. The camp is Lake Wood. TO ATTEND OFFICERS CLASSES The ladies of the United Methodist church will attend an officer training for the W.M.C. ladies of the church It will be in three locations this Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Summy attended both of their class reunions Saturday evening. Mr. Summy graduated from Bourbon; his reunion was held at a restaurant in Plymouth. Mrs. Summy graduated from Leesburg; her reunion was held at a restaurant in Warsaw. Mrs. Anna Bishop is in the Goshen hospital with a broken hip. She was admitted last Friday. William May was admitted
Monday to the Murphy Medical center and underwent surgery on Tuesday. Rev. and Mrs. David Gosser took their son, Mark, to the Chicago airport where he flew to visit his brother. David Paul Gosser, and family at North Hollywood, Calif., where he will spend two weeks. Rev. and Mrs. David Gosser brought their granddaughter. Kathie, back to stay with them for a month. • - «• ** -1 COMPETING IN MERMAID FESTIVAL — Diann Kay Bailey is “Miss A TV” sponsored by the Northern Indiana All-Terrain Vehicle club. A 1970 graduate of Pierceton high school, Diann is 18 years old. She is 5 feet 34 inches tall and weighs 110 pounds. She has brown hair and eyes. Diann is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bailey, r 1 Pierceton. Her hobbies include twirling, swimming, skiing and just having fun. Diann will be presenting the trophies at the Amphicat Rallysponsored by the NIATV which will be held on Sunday, 10 a.m. at the North Webster Trojan Motorcycle Track. Ebenezer Ladies Hold Annual June Picnic Mrs. Raymond Bitner assisted Mrs. Theries Doll in entertaining for the annual picnic on the Ebenezer Ladies Aid on June 18 at the Lake Wawasee Doll home. A bounteous dinner was enjoyed during the noon hour. Table grace was given by Mrs. Edna Thomas. A short business meeting was presided over by Mrs. Calvin Beck in the absence of president Mrs., Roy Wilkinson. Devotions were by Mrs. Bitner. Response to roll call was by 12 members. Guests were Mrs. Oma Hathaway, Mrs. Rosie Click, Mabel Forbes. Mrs. Carrie Rapp and Mrs. Court SlabaUgh. A report of sick members was given. Meeting closed with the Lord’s prayer and a social hour followed. The July meeting will be announced at a later date. DONALD GREENE CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY Donald Greene, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Greene of Dewart Lake, celebrated his 6th birthday Tuesday at his home. The cake was in the shape of a lighthouse, from his grandmother.

Delegates And Area Persons Attend GOP Convention
There were many persons from Kosciusko county who attended the Indiana Republican State convention held Wednesday and Thursday in Indianapolis. Among these were several county officers. delegates and some wives of the delegates. All of the 32 delegates from Kosciusko county were present except Bruce Howe, Jr., of Winona Lake, Gile D. Hoffer of W’arsaw, Howard Menzie of Pierceton and Arden Walgamuth of r 1 Leesburg. Duane Leedy of North Webster went as a proxy for Walgamuth. The meeting W’ednesday night in an Indianapolis hotel was an informal one with Bill Etherton, husband of state auditor Trudy Etherton, acting as master of ceremonies. Music was furnished by the Ball State singers. Greetings to the more than capacity of Republicans were read from President Nixon. Governor Whitcomb addressed the audience and lauded the work of the president. Many dignataries were introduced as were the candidates. Following the address Third District chairman Thames Mauzy, as well as state representative, gave instructions and information to the delegates and the others. Mrs. Mauzy and their son Lanny accompanied him to Indianapolis. The actual convention started at 10 am., Thursday at the Indiana State Fair Grounds coliseum. Republican State Chairman Buena Chaney presided The singing of the National Anthem and the invocation preceded the official call by John R. the Indiana Republican State Central committee, was introduced as were other distinguished guests by Mr. Chaney including the slate of candidates. Voting got underway shortly before noon. Mrs. John (Mazie) Alexander, county recorder and president of the Kosciusko county Republican women, served as a page. Mrs. John (Shirley) Augsburger of Milford was unable to be present as she is undergoing tests and observation in an Indianapolis hospital. Don Newman, who will oppose John Brademas for Congress in the fall, was present and spoke to the 2,600 estimated persons at Wednesday night’s meeting. Some of the former candidates who were present were former Governor George Craig and his w-ife. Charles Halleck, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Handley, Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Parker, Homer Capehart, Charles Hendricks, Dr. and Mrs. Otis Bowen, Eddie Spears, known as “Mr. Republican” and many others. Some of the women who attended in addition to Mrs. Alexander, mentioned above were Miss Pauline Jordan, vice chairman to Ed Pratt who was also present, and Mrs. Ralph Brubaker, Mrs. Ira Moore, Mrs. Charles Wainwright, Mrs. Milo Clase, Mrs. George (Bessie)Himes, Mrs. Kermit Summers, Mrs. Fanchon Ellison and Katherine Teel. Mrs. Henry Ruch, Milford, is at the bedside of her sister, Miss Martha Lanz, at Elgin. 111, Miss Martha Rose Ruch of Syracuse visited her aunt Martha last Sunday.
