State M. H. Reorganized Governor Edgar D. Whitcomb, tfiday announced the reorganization of the Indiana Mental Health and Mental Retardation Planning Commission. Thomas Binford of Indianapolis will continue to serve as chairman with Dr. Martin W. Meyer continuing as executive director of the commission. The commission is entrusted wttfr the responsibility of serving the Governor, the legislature and the department of Mental Health as the agent for statewide planning and for such special studies for the department of Mental Health as might be requested. Professional staff services for the commission are provided by the division of planning and evaluation. Indiana Department of Mental Health, which is directed by Dr. Meyer. Lawrence J. Sea Explorers Return From 5-Day, 80 Mile Canoe Trip

The members of Sea Explorer Scout Ship Wasyr at Syracuse just completed a five-day eightymile canoe trip down the Au Sable River from Grayling to Mio, Michigan. Members making the trip were Dale Brown, boatswain; Steven Petersen, boatswain’s mate; Gail Brown, pursur; crew leaders Kip Schum, Linda Lundquist and Mike Harris. Other members were John Bahn, Susan Clark, Larry Weaver, April Hapner, Paul Van Dyke, Becky Knisely, Ivan Avery and David Clark. Charles Harris. Larty Pletcher, mate, and Dr. Jack Clark, skipper, made the trip with the group. Highlights of the trip were improving canoeing ability (with only one canoe swamping), compass and map work, first aid review, nature study, wood splitting (done by everyone), and learning about survival foods with samples of such things as cat-tail roots, fern fronds (raw and cooked), wild strawberry tea (really good), marsh marigold leaf salad and sauted frog legs
