Churches Os The Lakeland Area Welcome Summer Visitors
The churches of the Lakeland area join with us in saying welcome to the summer visitor. They extend their welcomes through the members of their congregations, their pastors, the tall steeples that reach toward the sky, beautiful crosses that remind us of Calvary; stained" glass windows that were created to make the buildings special and by their open doors. Each year the Lakeland area churches open their doors to welcome hundreds of persons who come here for their vacations but do not take a vacation from God. Many Lakeland summer residents actually become part of one church family or another while living here Others like to visit different churches. Many of the congregations have special calling committees who visit the summer residents and tell of their church and its program. They invite all to-at-tend services _ Others have no calling committee but readily greet visitors each Sunday with smiles and warm wishes ■Rp ■ 1 Sign of the Fish A program new to the area last year was the Sign of the Fish It was a coffee house which served the younger generation and was located on state road 13 south of Syracuse The Sigh of the Fish catered to both Lakeland residents and young people who were here with their parents for the summer months. This program has been reinstated this year with some six churches joining together to lease the Waco property on Lake Wawasee for their project. The coffee house will carry on the name used last year and is expected to open about June 23. Open house is planned for Sunday. June 21, in connection with the Father's Day Flotilla when the Waco area will be used by the committee for a judging site for the Flotilla Plans are also being discussed by the sponsoring churches for
