I„, NIP SCo DECLARES DIVIDENDS Directors of Northern Indiana Public Service Company today declared dividends of $1.0625 a share on the 4-4 per cent cumulative preferred stock; $1.12 a share on the 4-4 per cent cumulative preferred stock; $1.05 a share on the 4.22 per cent cumulative preferred stock; and $1.22 a share on the 4,88 per cent cumulative preferred stock of the company. All four dividends are payable July 14. 1970, to shareholders of record at the close of business June 19, 1970. New Salem By MRS. HERB MOREHOUSE SUNDAY’S SERMON Pastor Ostrander’s sermon topic “Peace and Security???” was taken from I Thessalonians 5:1-5. The Sons of Praise gave the special music during the worship service. The young people were in charge of the evening services, after classes. Group singing was led by Wesley Kilmer. The missionary prayer was given by Max Shively. Ronald Wildman gave devotions taken from Genisis 39:1-12 and offered prayer. Gary Hurd spoke at “Temptation.” Pastor Ostrander offered the benediction. —NS—BREAKFAST HONORS GRADUATING SENIORS Mr. and Mrs. Everett Tom. Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Baker sponsored the Sunday morning breakfast honoring the 1970 high school graduates Those honored were Brenda Hurd. Sandra Sizemore. Jay Anglin. Stanley Kilmer and Rick McDonald. Jack Teeple gave the dovotions. Susie Baker read a poem Glen Kamerer of Grace college was guest speaker. Mrs. Inez Shively played a piano solo, “He touched Me.” Howard Kreider gave devotions and talked .on “Christian Desires” and offered prayer. Mrs Ray Ferverda presided over the election of officers. Mr and Mrs. John Mullinix and daughters, Mrs. Edith Shoemaker of North Webster, Mrs. Edna Tom and Doris attended morning worship services Sunday at Ireland Road Brethren church and were all dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. James Tom of South Bend. They celebrated the birthday of Mrs. Edna Tom. Mrs Edna Tom and Mrs. John Mullinix and daughters called on Mr. and Mrs. Pearle Wehrly Friday evening. A birthday cake was given to Mrs. Wehrly by Mrs. Tom, whose birthdays both occurred on May 23.

Memorial Services At Solomon's Creek Memorial sen ices have been scheduled for 2 o’clock Saturday . afternoon at Solomon's Creek church north of Syracuse with the Rev. Chester Carpenter as speaker. Music will be furnished by the Fairfield school band. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Dowty are moving Saturday from Camp Mack to their mobile home south of Milford. The Dowty's are retiring from Camp Mack after 15 years of service.

MISS NORTH WEBSTER JAY’CEES — Linn Barton, r 1 North Webster, a sophomore at Wawasee high school, has entered the Queen of Lakes contest as Miss North Webster Jaycees. Miss Barton is 16 years old. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Barton of r 1 North Webster. Linn is five feet, six inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes. Her hobbies include skiing and boating.

MISS BLUE CHIP — Carla Kay Singrey has entered the Mermaid Festival Queen of Lakes contest as Miss Blue Chip. She is being sponsored by the North Webster Jaycees. Carla is a 1969 graduate of Wawasee high school and currently employed at Regent Homes north of Syracuse. She is the daughter of Cleo Singrey and Gloria Stoffel, both of the Syracuse area. She enjoys water skiing, swimming, reading and life guarding. Carla was the 1969 Flotilla Queen and participated in the Queen of Lakes contest last year also.

Flood Paralyzes Cromwell Area

A flash flood at 5 p.m. Sunday completely paralyzed the town of Cromwell, Indiana, when the town received four inches of rain in one hour causing one section of state road 5 to be 18 inches under water. Traffic was impossible through the town, causing traffic jams and minor accidents. Road

5 was officially closed by the state highway department within a short time after the freak rain. At press time state road 5 is still closed and traffic is detoured around the town, via U.S. 33 to U.S. 8 and 33. Barring further rains it is expected the trouble will be righted within a short time.

PRANKSTER CAUSES ACCIDENT — A prankster removed a stop sign and the driver of the above vehicle ran off the end of a Tintersection Sunday morning causing extensive damage to his auto. Lynn Croy. 19, r 2 Milford, was driving the auto and failed to negotiate a turn because of the missing stop sign? The accident occurred at the intersection of 1050 N and the Orn road, four miles southwest of Milford. Croy suffered a laceration to his head. A passenger, Robert Fairchild, 19, Nappanee, received a cut to his arm. * Damages to the car were listed at |1,200.
