Return Their Winter Hospitality With Swim Party in Backyard
If you have a swimming pool, this summer you can return with interest all the hospitality you enjoyed during the winter A crowded cocktail party is uncomfortable and old hat, but a big party in the great outdoors, with the focus on fine food and fun in the pool is something else. If your friends like to dress up. make it a costume party. How about a deep sea theme, with guests coming as some form of marine life? If they’re imaginative, you’ll probably see a wild assortment of swordfish, angelfish, catfish, bluefish, starfish and goldfish. And perhaps a few mermaids, Neptunes and frogmen. Better warn them that costumes should be either waterproof or easy to exchange for a swim suit. For Party Prop* For party props, beg, buy or borrow Oriental fish kites, fish-shaped pool toys, seashells — anything that smacks of life under the sea. flavor. The easiest and cleanest cookouts are done on gas grills, which may be connected to a natural gas line, or fueled by tanks of LP gas. Some are permanently installed: others can be moved around and quick-connected to the gas supply. Since gas heat is instant and controllable, and there’s no grime to contend with, a gas grill will make party preparations and clean-up easier. For the Menu For the menu, you might serve Oriental shrimp appetizers — shrimp marinated in soy sauce, honey, sherry and crushed garlic. Broil them quickly on the gas grill and have a generous supply of Japanese wood skewers or big toothpicks and cocktail napkins on hand for serving them.
