NEW STORE OWNERS AT MILFORD — C. V. ("Tiny") and Lavon Holderman. above, are owners of the dime store iri Milford. The store had been closed since before Christmas when owner. Mrs. Mas Dewees. died. The Holdermans opened the store a short time ago and have re-named the business "Lavon's Variety Store." They are currently offering many specials. Mr. and Mrs. Holderman reside near Goshen with their son. Dale. Thev also have a cottage at W aubee Lake. The Holdermans have a daughter. Kay. and one grandchild. • They formerly owned and operated Tiny's Drive-In on highway 15 in Milford.

State Rep. Coblentz Addresses Kosciusko County Women's Club
State Representative Arthur Coblentz was the guest speaker at the meeting of the Kosciusko County Republican Women’s club at the R.E.M.C. building at Warsaw Wednesday evening. His information on his work with “Crime and Benevolent Institutions” was given in a soft natural tone of voice and he spoke without using any notes. The speech encompassed the Girls School, the Boys Reformatory, the Women’s Prison, the State Prison at Michigan City and the State farm. Rep. Coblentz spoke briefly at the close of the above speech of his work on the Ways and Means Committee, of which he is a fnember. He graciously thanked those present for their support in the recent Primary election and praised Republicans and the Women’s club for inviting him to its election and installation of new members meeting. Mrs. John (E. Mazie) Alexander, club president, conducted the meeting. She was later installed as the in-coming president, succeeding herself in that office. She first introduced Edward Pratt, new Kosciusko county chairman of the Republican party, succeeding Giles Hoffer. Chairman Pratt spoke briefly, thanking those present for fre support they had given him thus far and said he would need their support in the months ahead. Mrs. Alexander next introduced State Representative Thames Mauzy who spoke of his new office as Third District Chairman for the party, which takes in St. Joe, Elkhart, Marshall and Kosciusko counties. He touched on his work on the Antipollution committee and said he had been called only that day to investigate a green substance, which was entering Winona Lake. He said he immediately contacted the state health board and a man was to arrive Thursday to make tests and probe the matter. He then turned the meeting back

Honors Awarded Between the two representatives Mrs. Paul (Alice) Randels awarded honors for the completion of membership for the year 1970 in the absence of Mrs. Bette Schlotterback, whose daughter is ill. Mrs. Schlotterback is the membership chairman for the Women’s club. Mrs. Russell (Bernice) Knoop won first place honors; second went to Mrs. Gene (Jean) Messmore; and honorable mention went to Mrs. Corliss (Elinor) Rowland, Mrs. Charles (Rosemary) Lynch, Mrs. Everett (Avis) Gunter and Miss Gwen Anglin. Miss Ava Gunter was present at the meeting and was recognized for receiving the top award in "The Belles” two weeks ago. Miss Gunter, a senior student in the Warsaw Community school, worked in the choral group under Miss Margaret Voirol, instructor in that school system. Miss Gunter is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Gunter of r 2 Claypool. She plans to enter the field of political science after graduation. Other officers installed by the new chairman. Conference of Wawasee Heights Baptist church closed Sunday, May 24, at which time a faith promise offering of $13,374.00 was received. This amount will be given to missions during the next 12 months, and far exceeds the goal of $7,500.00. This represents an increase in rifissionary giving of well over 100 per cent in one year for the church.
