Nature Craft Since the weather has been so beautiful and spring has just arrived, I hate to mention fall but we have to plan ahead. In October, a special interest class in Nature Craft will be offered. If you are interested in this, it would be wise to start collecting seeds and flowers this spring. Save all types of seeds such as apple, orange, and plant seeds. Keep a small box in the kitchen and toss any that you find into it. Also grasses, vines, and weeds (dandelions for example) can be dried and used. Continue to collect articles throughout the summer so that you'll have a good selection for the class. K AT WAWASEE PREP THIS SUMMER — Brian Boulae. Wally Moore and Mike Stock will be on hand at Wawasee Prep this summer to give some pointers on football, basketball and golf. The special camps will be held during the months of June. July and August. An all-sports camp is also being planned by the staff of Wawasee Prep. Announce Summer Camp Plans
Phil Jones, camp director, announces the summer camp program which will be held at Wawasee Preparatory School on Lake Wawasee, Syracuse. Three outstanding sports figures will conduct the camp in three phases. Wally Moore, assistant offensive line coach at Notre Dame will have the football camp; Johnny Dee, head basketball coach at N. D. will run the basketball camp; and Johnnie LoPenzina of Miami will be the pro for the golf camp. The program starts June 28. Jones is a graduate of Asbury college and Indiana university where he participated in their sports program. He has been a coach for six years in elementary and junior high schools. The three clinics will include a golf camp from June 28 to July 11; a football camp from July 12 to July 25; and a basketball camp from August 2 to August 22. Concurrently with the golf camp, the athletic staff of Wawasee Prep will conduct an all-sports camp for boys 10 to 12 and 13 to 16. This camp will teach the fundementals of football, basketball, golf, swimming, and softball. The golf professional for the golf camp, Johnnie LoPenzina, is assistant golf pro at Crooked Creek Country Club in Miami, Florida. LoPenzina comes well qualified to teach youngsters the game of golf. He started at an early age and was a three time winner of the National Pee Wee Golf Tournament at the ages of 12, 13, and 14. He was low amateur in the South American Open and at the Dural Open. He has competed in many other well known tournaments. LoPenzina served his apprenticeship under Bob Patrick, pro of Miami Shores Country Club. He will provide the Wawasee Prep golf camp with an outstanding instructor for the young boy who wants to learn the game. Several fine golf courses are available in the WawaseeSyracuse area. The program is open to boys ages 10 to 16. The football camp is fortunate to have Wally Moore, assistant offensive line coach from Notre Dame to head up its staff. Before taking over this spot last year,
Moore had a brilliant record for three years as freshman coach for N. D. Prior to that time he had fourteen years as a successful high school coach. His dedication to sound coaching procedures and excellence in execution in the game of football will provide those who attend the football camp with a great leader. Moore will be assisted by Brian Boulac and Mike Stock. Boulac comes from the Pacific Northwest. He has worked as assistant coach at Notre Dame for three years and has recently been elevated to" assistant offensive line coach with Wally Moore. Mike Stock, after one year as freshman coach at N. D., has just been elevated to the varsity staff as coach for wide receivers. Stock played football under Ara Parseghian at Northwestern. He co-captained the North in the Shrine game of 1960 and was an All fullback. The football camp will teach the fundementals of running, blocking, tackling, skills with the ball, and conditioning. It is open to Indiana boys ages 10 to 15 and to out-of-state boys ages 10 to 17. Another highlight of the Wawasee Prep summer camp is Johnny Dee’s basketball camp from August 2 through August 22. Johnny Dee has been head basketball coach at Notre Dame for the past five years. He is unique in that he has coached at all levels, having had experiencein elementary, high school and college. Probably his outstanding trait as a coach is his boundless enthusiasm which quickly rubs
