SWCD BOARD HOLDS MAY MEETING The board of supervisors of the Kosciusko County Soil and Water Conservation District held their May meeting at the office on south Buffalo street in Warsaw. Twelve supervisors and office personnel were present. Vice-Chairman Leon Tucker presided in the absence of the chairman, Myron ' Metzger. Reports were given on the Tippecanoe Valley Watershed meeting held-irTWarsaw in April. The board was informed that an executive committee had been appointed at this meeting, representing the six counties involved in the watershed area, Kosciusko, Marshall, Starke, Fulton, Pulaski and White. Gary Lyon of Warsaw is chairman of this group and Marge Hepler of Warsaw is secretary. county churches. Many churches observed Soil Stewardship Sunday with special services. Joe Wilson reported on the Catfish Production in Ponds meeting which was held recently at the 4-H building on the fairgrounds. Jack Coates, Biologist from Ralston Purina, gave an informative presentation to the 35 persons present, on problems involved with catfish production in this area. Several District cooperators are entering this business venture on a small scale. A drainage quest ionaire was filled out by the group. The District’s 1970 Plan of Work was reviewed. Suggestions were made fa* enlarging the scope for the coming year. New cooperators accepted were: Marjorie Huffman of Harrison Twp; Odis Shepherd, Seward; Rex Schilling, Lake; Roy O. Caywood, Turkey Creek; George P. Mitchel for Mesingomesia Council, Inc., Crossland Scout Camp, Washington; and Robert Rumfelt, Jefferson. The next meeting will be a joint meeting with the Auxiliary on June 3 at the REMC. HOMEMAKERS ENJOY MOD PODGECLASS The Busy Homemakers club met May 6 in the home of Mrs. Maude Geiger and co-host ess, Mrs. Glen Treesh. for its May meeting. The members then drove to Warsaw to attend a mod podge class. Each member completed a lovely picture on wood. This proved to be very interesting work. They returned to the Geiger home where a delicious desert, nuts and coffee were served. The door prize was won by Mrs. Vernon May. Ten members enjoyed the afternoon. The next meeting will be June 3 in the home of Mrs. Walter Kasper. INVESTIGATE CAR-TRUCK CRASH A car and truck were involved in a collision Tuesday at 5:10 p.m. at the intersection of roads 135 N and 700 W. The drivers of the vehicles were Stephen R. Elliott. 28. r 1 Nappanejf. and Michael Long. 23, r 2 Milford. Elliott’s truck received some fender damage with no estimate of loss given. Long's car had $250 damage. STATE MASONIC . LEADERS TO CONVENE Representatives of Indiana’s 551 Masonic Lodges will assemble at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Indianapolis on May 19 and 20 for a twenday annual meeting of the Grand Lodge of Indiana, Freemasonry’s governing body in the state. The gathering will attract nearly two thousand Masais and their guests, including Grand Masters from ten states and one Canadian province. Robert P. Joyce, Indianapolis, Grand Master of Masons in Indiana, will preside at all sessions. It is anticipated that during the annual gathering one additional Lodge will be granted a charter. Constellatiai Lodge at Evansville has been operating under dispensation for the past year. A highlight of the annual meeting will be the recognition of Lodges that have secured the higest percentage of participation among its members in a ten-year financial campaign for enlargement, of facilities of the Indiana Masonic Home at Franklin. The Masonic Home at Franklin is regarded in medical circles as oie.of the finest geriatric centers in the entire nation. The Masonic Home cooperates extensively with the Indiana University Medical Center in a research and study program regarding problems of the aging and aged/ The Grand Master will recommend a continuing program of emphasis on Indiana’s Masonic lay groundwork C for Freemasonry’s observance of the 200th anniversary of American Independence in 1976. Citizens* Committee Chooses Theme

At a meeting Tuesday evening, seven catagories were chosen for consideration by officers of the Tippecanoe Township Citizens Committee. These catagories were made into committees, and chairmen will be selected in the very near future. The committees chosen are legislative, natural resources, public relations, historical, civil defense, membership and finance, and retail merchants. The theme chosen for the community project is Better Township Unity, and will be in the future sometimes be mentioned as BTU. A regular monthly meeting schedule is to be decided soon. Five dollar awards were made to Patty Wallace, Ralph Reiff, Stephen Metzger, and Brian Neibert, North Webster school students who were chosen run-ner-ups in a contest to select a name for the Citizens Committee. A clean-up day is scheduled for Saturday. May 16. and all citizens in the area are asked to clean

NEW MEMBERS 7 AT UM CHURCH The Milford United Methodist church received two new members and administered Christian baptism to one child during its May 10 hour of Mother’s Day worship. Uniting with tfie church during this hour were Mr. and Mrs. David Gardonio of r r Warsaw. Mrs. Gardonio, the former Barbara Cain, came to the Milford congregation by letter of transfer from the First United Methodist of Warsaw. The Gardonios’ son. David Scott, received Christian baptism at the same time that his parents united with the local congregation.
