The honor roll students for the fifth grading period were named today by William E. Syracuse Spring Concert Thursday The Syracuse junior high school music department will present a spnng concert on Thursday, May 7. at 7:30 p m in the Syracuse junior high school gymnasium The concert will feature all the junior high music organizations, plus a combined 6. 7, and Bth grade chorus, and a newly formed concert orchestra Here are a few of the numbers to be included in the program The sixth grade band will play Castles in Spam. “ and the Marine s Hymn. Junior High Hi kites By Sue Blue Last week. Mr. Bob Bradley, a traveling ventriloquist, visited the North Webster school and gave a grand performance to the students. Mr. Bradley began his program by using an echo glass. TJhis was a glass which he would calk to and it would speak back. For the rest of the show he used talking drawers, knock-knock-jokes. and a juggled-ball act. The biggest highlight was a talking bird. With the “bird" Mr. Bradley sang songs and told jokes. Everyone really enjoyed the program and hoped that perhaps the ventriloquist may visit the school again.

ELLEN FREEMAN Ellen Bemiece Freeman is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Freeman of r 3 Syracuse. She is majoring in English, home ec and business and minoring in social studies and science. Physical education and history are her favorite subjects. Ellen is a member of FHA, GAA, Y-Teens and band. She is also a 4-H club member and a 4-H junior leader. This senior represented Milford in the Kosciusko county fair queen contest last summer. Her future includes college at Indiana State university where she will major in physical education. She has two brothers. Darwin and Dale. They are 16-year-old twins and are sophomores at WHS. Ellen works at Thornburg’s Drug store in Syracuse. She lists basketball and football as her favorite sports. “Gone with the Wind" is her favorite book and sewing, water skiing and reading are her hobbies. -WHSDONNA BACHTEL Donna Kay Bachtel plans to attend Ball State university in the fall. She wants to become a teacher. Donna is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Bachtel of r 3 box 510-A, Syracuse. She is majoring in English, Spanish, math and history and minoring in exploratory teaching. Her minor is her favorite subject. Donna is a member of band, YTeens. Drama club, national honor society, GAA and is treasurer of FT A. She has a letter in band. Her brother Bob is a freshman at WHS while Judy, her sister, is a fifth grader at Syracuse. Donna works at the National 5 and 10 in Syracuse. Basketball is her favorite sport and reading and swimming are her hobbies. She too names "To Kill A Mocking Bird” as her favorite book. —WHS—SANDRA CAIN Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Cain are the parents of Sandra Kay Cain, a WHS senior who resides in Milford. Sandra is majoring in business and has minors in home ec and band. Sociology and typing are her favorite subjects. She has been in band, choir, pep club. FHA and Spanish club. Sandy is a member of the First Brethren church of Milford and has been a 4-H club member for eight years. She has band awards from local contests which include four firsts and five seconds. She plans to attend Indiana School of Business and Technology at Indianapolis in September for a period of 10 months. Sandra has an older brother. Steve, who graduated from Milford in 1965 and is also a graduate of Indiana State university. He is now married and lives in Indianapolis. Basketball is her favorite sport. She has no favorite book, however. Edgar Allan Poe is her favorite author. Cooking, listening to popular music, bowling, dating, and going to the movies are her hobbies.

DANIEL VAN LUE Daniel Joseph Van Lue is the eldest of four children of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Van Lue of Syracuse. Dianne is a junior at Wawasee, David is a sophomore and Doug is in the third grade at Syracuse. Dan is majoring in math, science, social studies and English and minoring in Spanish. Math and science are his favorite subjects. He is vice president of the national honor society of which he has been a member for two years; a four-year member of the band and choir and two year member of the pep band; a member of the executive council for the past two years; and a member of the industrial arts club. Dan toured Europe with the school chorus of America last summer. He is also president of the Luther League and a member of his church choir. Dan has won district and state music awards. After graduating from Wawasee this senior plans to study electrical engineering at Purdue university. He works at Wawasee Electronics Company in Syracuse. Baseball is his favorite sport. Electronics and water skiing are his hobbies and “The Cain Mutiny" is his favority book. —WHS—BEVERLY GRAFF Beverly Sue Graff works at W. R. Thomas in Syracuse after school. She lists roller skating, bowling, water skiing and archery as her favorite sports. The Bible is her favorite book. Sewing and reading are her hobbies. Beverly is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Graff of 200 Mill Street, Syracuse. English, Spanish, social studies, science and math are her majors. Government and English are her minors. She is a member of the FTA, national honor society, social studies club and the library club. She attends the Calvary Baptist church in Oswego. Beverly has a Spanish award and other foreign language awards. After graduating she plans to attend the Baptist Bible college at Clarks-Summit, Pa. She too is the eldest of four children. Her sisters are Debbie, who is in the eighth grade; and Kimberely, who is in the first grade. Her brother, Rodney, is in the third grade. -WHSDIXIE EGOLF Dixie Lee Egolf is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Egolf of Syracuse. She plans to work and get married after graduating. Dixie is one of four children Her sister Mrs. Linda Yarian resides in Syracuse. Her brother Dave is 46 afitl a sophomore at Wawasee while brother Terry is 11 and in the sixth grade at Syracuse. English, business and social studies are her majors while Spanish, math and science are her minors. Office machines and home ec are her favorite subjects. She has been a member of Yteens for one year, health careers club for two years and cheerblock for two years. Basketball is her favorite sport. “To Kill a Mockingbird” is her favorite book and reading and cooking are her hobbies.

DIANNE RINGLER Dianne Elaine Ringler plans to become a lab technician after graduating from WHS this spring. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Ringler of r 1 Syracuse. Her majors are home ec, business, English, science and social studies while her minor is art. Home ec is her favorite subject. She is a member of FHA, health career club and Y-teens. Dianne has one younger brother, Douglas Lee, who is a freshman at Wawasee. She works at the National 5 and 10 in Syracuse. Drag racing is her favorite sport. “To Kill a Mockingbird” is her favorite book. Sewing is her hobby. —WHS—STEVEN’ KENT ZURCHER Steven Kent Zurcher is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Zurcher of r 1 Leesburg. He has college in his future but isn’t sure where as yet. He is majoring in social studies, math, science, English and Spanish and minoring in physical education. English and physical education are his favorite subjects. Steve has been a member of the baseball, basketball and track teams. He belongs to the letterman’s club, the executive council and the National Honor Society. He attends the North Webster Church of God. Steve has numerous awards in athletics. His brothers are Mike. 15 a WHS student, Robin, 12, a student at North Webster and Kim, 4. His sister, Melanie, is 8 and a student at North Webster. Basketball, baseball and football are his favorite sports. “The Adventurers” is his favorite book and his hobbies include beating Jerry’ Minton in golf, collecting records, playing basketball and cartographer. -WHSGARY FIRESTONE Gary Firestone is one of seven children of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Firestone of r r Syracuse. He has three brothers and three sisters, all of whom are older except David who is younger and still at home. Jerry lives in Fort Wayne, Martha May Yerger resides in Syracuse. Tom lives in Bremen, Mary Jo Lundy lives in North Webster and Peggy Smith resides in Syracuse. He has majors in English, history and math and minors in Spanish and business. Business is his favorite subject. He is a member of the letterman’s club, participates in basketball, baseball and golf and is a member of the choir. Gary is also a member of the Syracuse Church of God. This senior has varsity letters in golf, baseball and basketball. He plans to attend Davenport college in Grand Rapids, Mich., in the fall. Golf is his favorite sport. Golfing, playing basketball and singing are his hobbies.

CLASS / TAKES HELD TRIP The special education class two on junior high level at Syracuse took an all-day field trip Friday to better give students the opportunity to visit and observe some of the industries typical in the local area, to better acquaint the students with jobs they may be performing in the future. The morning schedule included visits to Syracuse Rubber Products, both the mixing and finishing plants; the NIPSCo power sub-station and gas substation and Barth, Inc., (ft, Milford. Lunch was enjoyed in Warsaw followed by a tour of Korth Furniture Mfg. co., Warsaw. Volunteers transported the children to and from their schedules for the day.
