Here the students lived with Dutch families and went to school with Dutch teenagers their own age The Americans were enthusiastic over their Dutch hosts and could not get over their reception and the program the school's headmaster arranged for them, which included an extensive tour of the engineering system the Dutch have devised to reclaim land from the North Sea ELaster Sunday morning the group attended mass at St.

border. Fortunately, they had made friends with an American girl in her junior year in a Madrid college, who directed them to a train heading for Spain. With no Spanish money and only an apple between them to eat all day they arrived at the Madrid station that night just 15 minutes later than the main group. The students, most of whom worked to save up the money to take the trip, all agreed that it was worth it and are ready to go back. Their conversation suggests that they were amazed at the language ability of the Europeans and the age of their countries They were surprised too at the industrialization of Europe on one hand and how on the other hand the people seem to get along so well without all the things we Americans take for granted.

My Letter To The Governor By BART BOWSER Grade 2 North Webster I am lucky I live in Indiana. It is never boring because of all the things that we can do. We can swim in our lakes and in the winter we can ice skate on them. We have snow-mobile races and lots of tourists. Basketball and baseball are good sports. We have good churches and good schools. Our state has beautiful parks where we can have picnics. People pay taxes to keep our state a nice place. I like America but best of all I like Indiana. I look at the squirrels scampering about. I see the trees waving in the wind. The butterflies are flitting from flower to flower. Indiana is a thing of beauty.
