REMEMBER WHEN IT HAPPENED IN SYRACUSE ONE YEAR AGO The Syracuse town board of trustees will be asked to give serious attention to the matter of annexing certain parcels of land to the town plat, if the expressed wishes of the Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce take any form and substance. Lake Wawasee claimed the life little Susette Osborn, 2, Fort Wayne, Sunday, near noon at the home of Mr. and, Mrs. Richard Easley where the Osborn family was visiting. The Syracuse license branch will open April 25 under the new manager, Mrs. Frank Putt, with Mrs. Charles Dean assisting. The Lakeland music festival will be held at Wawasee high school on Friday night, April 25, with nearly 1,000 students in grades 4 through 12 participating. Tracy Jean, year and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Shear of Pittsburgh street, is a patient in the Goshen hospital suffering from spinal meningitis. Miss Susan Kitson and James Snider were married April 12 in Calvary United Methodist church. Jones of Syracuse has been ordained to the ministry in Peoples church in South Bend. A daughter was born Monday in the Goshen hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hoover. Ralph Burson placed third in the expert division of the archery tournament on Sunday in Fort Wayne. Lucille Burson placed first in the women’s class and Rea Burson, second. Teddy Burson was third in the junior archers. All are from Syracuse. A son, Michael Lee, was bom April 14 to Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell Brower. FORTY-FIVE YEARS AGO Vivian Disher received an ankle injury this week when unloading logs from a truck at the sawmill as a chain slipped and a log fell to the ground catching his foot between it and another log (Hi the ground. Tlie town board at its Tuesday 1 night meeting passed a resolution to pave Harrison street. Receives Grant To Study Howard Locke, a Milford junior high school teacher. Jias received a grant to study advanced math at Ball State university this summer. One of 32 members of the class, he is one of five frbm the state of Indiana. One student is from Guam, another from Hawaii, while the rest of the class is made up of residents from all over the continental United States. Locke resides in North Webster and is president of the Lakeland Classroom Teachers Association.
