Linda Pilcher And J. M. Wortinger Wed March 20 At New Paris Church
Miss Linda L. Pilcher and James M Wortinger, both of Syracuse, were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony at 7 o’clock Friday evening, March 20, in the Bethany Church of the Brethren c at New Paris. * The Rev James McKinnel, pastor of the church, performed the wedding in the presence of 100 guests. Mrs. Mendell Snavley served as organist Mrs. Richard Chapman, sister of the bride, was . vocalist using the three selections, "One Heart, One Hand;” "Oh. Perfect Love;" and "Oh, Promise Me." Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Pilcher of 112 W* Pearl. Syracuse, and Mr. and Mrs Marlin Wortinger of r 1 Syracuse Given in Marriage The bnde. given in marriage by her father, appeared in a while crepe empire style gown with nylon ruffles and sleeves. The puff sleeve fell to a fitted arm from elbow to wrist. The high rise neckline featured matching rows of ruffles and her elbow length veil of nylon tulle was attached to a headpiece of acetate nylon lace rose petals accented with simulated seed pearls. She wore a dainty pearl bracelet and her flowers were yellow cymbidian orchids on a Mother-of-Pearl Bible. Mrs. Thomas Perzanowski, sister of the bnde. Syracuse.

Her head-dress was a yellow nylon tulle organza flower attached to a matching veil and she carried a single long stemmed yellow rose. John Wortinger. brother of the bridegroom. Syracuse, was best man. Ushers were Robert Pilcher, brother of the bride, and Thomas Perzanowski, brother-in-law of the bride, both of Syracuse. Mother of the bride chose, for the wedding, a lemon-yellow nylon dress with brown accessories. The bridegroom’s mother selected a melon-green dress with black accessories. Their flowers were yellow rose and white mum corsages. A wedding reception followed in the reception hall of the church. For her travel costume, the new bnde chose a tan suit with orange accessories and wore an orchid corsage Following a brief honeymoon, the couple is residing on r 1 Ligonier. The bride graduated from Syracuse high school and Anderson college. She is a teacher in the Wolf Lake elementary school. The bridegroom graduated from New Paris high school and Grace college and is employed with the New Paris schools
dean. Eligibility for this honor is limited to those students carrying a full academic schedule with a 3.5 scholastic ration out of a possible 4.0. Miss Mikel was graduated from Syracuse high school with the class of 1968. where she was a member of National Honor Society and co-salutatorian She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley D. Mikel, Syracuse. CARE FREE MOTHERS HAVE EGG CONTEST The Care Free Mothers club of the Milford area held their March meeting in the home of Mrs. Charles Green at Dewart Lake. Co-hostess was Mrs. Joe Schlabach Each member look an egg and decorated it with prizes being given for the best egg. 'Showboat' Is Theme Os B.P.W. Civic Night "Showboat" will be the theme of the fourth annual Syracuse Business and Professional Women’s club’s civic night program to be held at 8 p.m. Friday. April 17. at the Wawasee high school auditorium All proceeds from the program will go toward various civic projects in the community, according to Mrs. R. C. Tytler, BPW publicity chairman. Underwood MC Jack Underwood, well known WOWO radio voice, will act as master of ceremonies. Rehearsals are now under way, with Syracuse junior high school principal Bill Dorsey acting as director. Two of the club women will appear on "Homemaker’s Time” over channel 22 at 9 a m. on Thursday morning. April 9. (Xhers working on the program include Mrs. John Craw, project and program chairman; Mrs. Robert Wilkerson, ticket chairman; and Mrs. Dave Rock, stage property chairman. Art students at Wawasee Prep are doing some of the stage props. Mrs. Lyle Kell will serve as organist Sorosis Club Visits Fur Factory Members of the Milford Sorosis club were guests of the fur company at Bremen Monday evening. Mr. Kimble explained how a fur coat is made, including the buying and selecting of pelts, dying of furs, plucking of guard hairs, the cutting and sewing of a pelt to contain the continuous look. Displayed were pelts, coats and stoles of muskrat, beaver, Argentina broadtail lamb, Persian lamb, mink, wild Canadian mink, natural Alaskan seal, sable and raccoon. The ladies enjoyed modding the different furs and hats. The evening was completed with coffee and eclairs at a Bremen restaurant before returning home. All members are reminded of the reciprocity meeting to be April 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Christian church. The spring party will be May 4 at the Holiday Inn in Goshen. Members are asked to call Mrs. Dennis Sharp by May 1 if they are taking a guest or are unable to attend.

Miss Alfrey graduated from Syracuse high school and now attends Indiana university where she is affiliated with Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Her fiance graduated from Marion high school and attends Indiana university. He is a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. A late August wedding is planned. County Nurse Speaks Before Primary Mothers Mrs. W. R. (Barbara) McClure, county health nurse, presented the program to members of the Syracuse Primary Mothers club at their Monday night meeting in the home of Mrs. Jack Crum. Mrs. Ervin Miller was welcomed into the club. The program included information on TB, child abuse, crippled children, retarded children and drugs in the community. Refreshments were served by Mrs. James Thornburg and Mrs. Milton Karesh. Mrs. James Zimmerman will entertain for the next meeting. LAKELAND LOCALS Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weisser. Doug, Greg, Brad and Kathy were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Neal Cory and Dave. The occasion was the birthday of Mr. Cory on Monday and the 30th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Cory on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Biller of Michigan City accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Henry Biller to their Orlando, Fla., home last week, planning to stay a few weeks.

Her fiance is a 1965 graduate of Syracuse high school and attended Manatee Junior college. He graduated from Florida State university in 1969 where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He is now stationed at Quantico, Va.

'Unexpected Treasure' Reviewed Before Wednesday Afternoon Club

BUSY HOMEMAKERS ENTERTAINED BY MRS. G. PINKERTON Busy Homemakers club met Wednesday, April 1, at the home of Mrs. Glen Pinkerton. Mrs. John Davidsen was co-hostess. President Mrs. Vernon May opened the meeting and America the Beautiful was sung. For meditations Mrs. Pinkerton read the minutes of their second meeting held at her home on April 1,1932 with Mrs. A. D. Wilson as co-hostess. Garden remarks, raising vegetables by inch or acre, and vegetables may be raised in a box on the patio were given by Mrs. Ralph Neff. Health and safety lesson, relief from bums and cuts, was given by Mrs. Frank Charlton. Twelve members answered roll call by giving horticultural mistakes. Mrs. Ralph Tusing gave the treasurer’s report. Flach member is to send a card to Elmer Rassi and Mrs. Harvey Hollar. The business meeting closed with the prayer song and an interesting style show of the “Gay Teens, Twenties and Thirties” was given by Mrs. May. Mrs. Frank Charlton modeled dresses and hats. A demonstration — Sew Biz — on new fabrics and how to press and cut and proper thread for sewing them was given by Mrs. Charlton. During the social hour Mrs. Pinkerton and Mrs. Davidsen served dessert and coffee to the members and five guests, Mrs. Fredric Schrock of South Bend, Mrs. Byron Smoker of New Paris and Mrs. Mervin Mishler and Ricky and Rusty Hollar of Milford. The door prize was won by Mrs. Mishler. The next meeting will be May 6 with Mrs. Maud Geiger. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wickersham of r 1 Leesburg had as Saturday guests, police chief and Mrs. Robert T. Jones and daughter of Winchester.
