Six Top Honor Roll For Fourth Grading Period At Milford Junior High

Milford junior high school Gorman L Miller's report on the honor rolls for the fourth grading period of the current school term shows a total of two eighth graders and four seventh graders on the distinguished honor roll. MB. IN JUNIOR HIGH CHORUS - Miss Susan Niles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. R. Niles of North Webster, recently auditioned and was accepted as a member of the junior high school chorus of America. Their tour covers 2.50® miles and eight states plus Washington. D. C. Susan is an eighth grade student at North Webster junior high school where she has been very active in the music program. This past January and February she received three superior ratings at district contest*. She has been a junior high cheerleader in the seventh and eighth grade, and during her eighth grade served as president of the student council. She is a 4H’er. belonging to the Room 4-U 4-H club and the Kosciusko County Horse and Pony club. Susan attends the Church of God in North Webster and is a memlser of Alpha-Teen* and the youth choir.

Rachel Gonzales Is State DECA Vice President o ■ M Miss Rachel Gonzales of Milford, a junior at Wawasee high school and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Enrique Gonzales, was elected state vice president of DECA at Terre Haute on March 14 during the state leadership conference. Rachel is eligible to attend the national DECA leadership conference in Minneapolis. Minn., on April 25-30. She was one of six from the state who were vieing for the office. A member of the sales merchandising class at Wawasee. she will enter the distributive education class next fall. Installation was held on Saturday and Rachel took her oath of office. Tickets are available from members of the music department or they may be ordered by calling Wawasee high school music office. and are members of DECA were eligible to attend the conference. They were also eligible to enter the various manuals. Those winning first place may now enter the national contest. Representatives from all over the United States with the exception of Alaska and Rhode Island will attend the conference in Minnesota along with students from Puerto Rico. Delegates from Indiana will be going in a group.

CINDY WISE Mr. and Mrs. Hoppy Wise of 401 east Chicago street, Syracuse, are the parents of our first Wawasee high school senior of the week — Cindy Wise. Cindy has a half-brother, Charles Lee Lamb, who is serving with the army in Germany. He is married to the former Penny Keim of North Webster. She also has two younger brothers, James Robert, 12, and Randy Lee, 4. Cindy is majoring in chorus, home ec. math, history and English and lists exploratory teaching as her favorite subject. Besides being a member of the choir, she belongs to the Future Teachers Association and the music dub. She has a letter in music. This senior's plans are not definite as of yet. She presently works at Milford Rubber. Roller skating and snowmobiling are her favorite sports. “Gone With the Wind” is her favorite book. Reading, se. ing. and collecting pennies are her hobbies. -WHS- . RICK E. HAMMAN Rick E. Hamman lists auto mechanics and English as his majors and history, business and science as his minors. Auto mechanics is his favorite subject. Rick is the son of Mrs. Ruth Hamman. The family's address is box 261, Leesburg. After graduating he plans to work further his education. He has 'an older sister, Mrs. Perry (Jane) Morton, who is a housewife residing on r 3 Warsaw; a younger brother, Greg, who if 16 and a sophomore; and a younger sister, Jennie, who is 13 and in the seventh grade. Rick works at Syracuse Rubber Company. He lists drag racing as his favorite sport. Drag racing cars and building engines up are his hobbies. -WHSPATH ANN DISHER Patti Ann Disher plans to do secretarial work or further her education after graduating from Wawasee this spring. Pat is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Disher of 200 N. Harrison street, Syracuse.

She is 9 years old and is now the Indiana State Primary places high in National competition. Diane Solo and Strutting Champion. She consistently models professionally in the Chicago area.

She is majoring in business, social studies and English and lists psychology as her favorite subject. She has been a member of chorus for three years, GAA for one year, and cheerblock for two years. Pat is a member of Calvary United Methodist church. Pat is the youngest of four daughters—Mrs. Cliff (Marcia) Shipcott resides in Pacifica, Calif., Mrs. John (Kay) Trenshaw resides in Goshen, and Mrs. Dane (Sue) Bailey resides in Warsaw. Water skiing and golf are her favorite sports. “Gone With the Wind” 1 is her farorite book and bowling is her hobby. -WHSRUTH .ANN EARY Ruth Ann Eary will graduate from Wawasee high school with majors in social studies, home ec, business, science and English and minors in math and foreign language. Sales and U. S. history are her favorite subjects. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Eary of r 1 Cromwell, she is a member of the cheer block, drama-debate club and health careers club. She attends the Lakeside Chapel. After graduating Ruth Ann plans to take a course in practical nursing, then go to work in a hospital. She has a sister, Nancy, 16, a brother, Larry, 12, and a sister, Gayle, 15. She works at the Goshen hospital with the health careers club. Swimming is this senior’s favorite sport while “Cain Mutiny” is her favorite book. Her hobbies are sewing -and dancing. WHBC CHEER LEADERS WIN The basketball team of the BYF of the Wawasee Heights Baptist church, under the direction of Loren Neibert, competed in a basketball marathon at Grace college at Winona Lake. They won some games and lost some games. Hie cheerleaders for the team and fans won first prize as cheerleaders. They received a first place trophy for accurate motion, unity, clearity of yells and originality.

Wawasee High School Honor Rolls Released By Smith

Principal Henry L. Smith of Wawasee high school has released the names of those students who have attained the honor roll for the fourth grading period. In order to be placed on the high honor roll, a student must have a point average of 3.5-4.0 with a B or better in all sojid subjects. No C’s are allowed. To be placed on the regular honor roll, a grade point average of 3.0 - 3.4 must be attained.
