Zurcher Finishes Third In NLC Conference With 133 Points

Warriors Win One, Lose One In Sectional Tourney Play-
The Wawasee Warriors went into the sectional tourney last week loaded for bear, and surged to an easy victory '97-60) over the Mentone Bulldogs in the second game last Thursday night. But their drive to a sectional championship was dampened in the second semi-finals game Saturday afternoon when they were defeated by. the Rochester Zebras. 80 to 57. To Meet Congressman An effort is being made by the MAD steering committee to hold a breakfast meeting at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, April 2, with Third District congressman John Brademas. Congressman Brademas has expressed his interest in the group’s boot-strap efforts, and a \ letter went to his office this week 1 confirming the meeting date. It is < being cleared with the congressman’s Washington of- , fice. . Hopefully, he will address himself to the possibilities of the community’s securing federal funds to help finance muchneeded community improvement projects which are the main purpose and goals of the Milford Area Development Council. Auxiliary Holds Monthly Meeting American Legion Auxiliary Wawasee Unit 223 met Tuesday evening for their regular meeting with Mrs. Wallace Huffer, president, presiding. Junior activities chairman Mrs. Lawrence Byrket announced the junior auxiliary had a Valentine party and gifts were exchanged instead of valentines. Get well cards were sent to members, Mrs. Zella Sarjent, Mrs. Fred Dust and Mrs. Maurice Snyder. During the meeting, it was voted to send a donation to the Lafayette home chapel. Announcement was made for the legion birthday party on March 21 at 6:30 p.m. with the auxiliary furnishing the meat and bread for the pot luck supper. Appointed for the food committee was Mrs. Mary Kistler. Mrs. O. P. Davis and Mrs. Agnes Stiffler; entertainment committee. Mr. and Mrs. Dolphus Sheline, Mr. and Mrs. T. L. ARRESTED FOR AUTO THEFT Milford police chief Don Drake and state trooper Larry Clodfelter arrested, Joe Martinez Tuesday on a warrant issued in Elkhart county for auto theft. Martinez was lodged in the Elkhart county jail at 5 p.m. under a SI,OOO bond. Larry Line of Syracuse reported his auto, a Plymouth station wagon, stolen from Land O Goshen on February 4 at 8 p.m. The vehicle was found at the Milford cemetery a few days later by Drake. Fishing equipment and other items were reported missing at that time. Drake and state policeman George Baker have been working on the case since the vehicle was found.

A short discussion was held on the eat stand at the park with the town board and Mr. Troup each agreeing to work on same. A report was read from LayneNorthem on the annual inspection of the town’s wells and pumps with a recommendation that the number two well be pulled and: repaired. Board members estimated this work will cost S7BO plus parts and decided it would be best to have the work done now rather than to wait until something goes wrong with said well, then having the work done. Election of officers was first on the agenda and the following officers were re-elected: Mrs. Myron Metzger, chairman Mrs. Bill Dalton - vice chairman, and Mrs. Phil Beer, secretary - treasurer. A committee was named to decorate for the dinner meeting of the area conservation speeeh contest, which will be held on March 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Shrine building. Chairman for the committee is Mrs. Carl Diehl, assisting her will be Mrs. Howard Silveus and Mrs. Fred Kuhn. Mrs. Myron Metzgef and Mrs. Leon Tucker assisted at the office with the second issue of “The Record,” the district newsletter. Plans were made to order material for Soil Stewardship Week and to make a complete listing of all the churches in the county and their pastors. Sponsors for conservation camps are needed.
