Blue And Gold Banquet Monday Nearly 100 people attended the Blue and Gold Banquet held Monday night in the dining hall at the Epworth Forest hotel. Cub scouts and Webelos, with their families, enjoyed the potluck supper. Norbert Niles gave the invocation. Tim Kuhn was celebrating his birthday, and the group surprised him by singing Happy Birthday. Sponsoring Lions club president, Paul Carson, presented a check to pack 26. Awards were presented to the following: Todd Niles, gold arrow; Matt Strombeck. one year pin, wolf patch, one gold and one silver arrow; Jim Fidler. one year pin; Bobby Bostick, bobcat pin. The Pinewood Derby will be held at the regularly scheduled pack meeting on March 23. at 7 o’clock in the school cafeteria. The entries for this race will consist of hand carved automobile facsimiles, fashioned from blocks of wood. Each boy will carve his own “machine.” Rev. Richard Rash pronounced the benediction at the close of Monday night’s meeting. -NWSTATE TROOPER TO SPEAK MARCH 12 On Thursday morning. March 12, at 9:30, a state trooper will be guest speaker for a meeting of the Mary Circle of W .S.C.S. His topic «■ will deal with narcotics and drug addiction. The meeting will be held in the social room of the North Webster United Methodist church, and anyone who wishes to learn more about this subject is cordially invited
Set World Day Os Prayer
World Day of Prayer services for this area will be held Friday evening. March 6. at 7:30, at the Morris Chapel United Methodist church. Sponsored by Church Women United, this day will find millions of people all over the world uniting in prayer. Mrs. Robert Reiff of the host church is chairman for the program this year. Assisting her will “be Mrs. William Brown and Mrs. Russell Mickley, of the Morris Chapel church; Mrs. Richard Rash and Mrs. Robert Miller, from the Church of God; Mrs. Richard Snoke, Mrs. David Nulf and Rev. John Weeks, United Methodist church; Mrs. Preston Gregory and Mrs. Howard Kiser, Church of the Brethren. Special music will be furnished by Mrs. Norbert Niles and Mrs. Hubert Robbins. The message for the evening will be given by the pastor of the host church, Rev. Glenn McHatton. Anyone planning to attend this service should note that the Barbee bridge is out, making it necessary to travel a different route to the Morris Chapel church.
Girl Stater Chosen
Selected by the North Webster American Legion Auxiliary to attend Girls’ State from June 2128 are Lynn Wood, delegate, and Sally Miller, alternate. Both girls are juniors at Wawasee high school. Lynn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W’ood, r 1 Leesburg. She is a member of the Health Careers club, the high school band, and drives to Goshen twice a month for Candy Striper duties at the Goshen hospital. Her hobbies include watching football and wrestling, and she loves to ride horseback. Lynn has light brown hair and blue eyes. Sally is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orva Miller of North Webster. She is a member of the Health Careers club, and occasionally entertains patients at the nursing home in Milford. Sally likes to ice skate, hike, and cook. She is a member of the Church of God youth choir, and the Omega Key club. She has black hair and dark brown eyes. —NW—FARM BUREAU DINNER PLANNED The Tippecanoe-Turkey Creek townships Farm Bureau will have a ham supper at the Church of God on Tuesday evening. March 10 at 6:30. During the social hour the Wawasee high school choir, which toured seven European countries last summer, will be featured. This choir is under the direction of Varner Chance, who was also director for the School Chorus of America. Voting and non-voting Farm Bureau members are urged to attend. Those planning to participate during the dinner hour are asked to bring a salad or covered dish, and a dessert. Don Clark of Jonesboro, former pastor of the United Methodist church in North Webster, was guest speaker for the Sunday evening lenten service. Mrs. Robert Roose voiced the evening prayer, and Rev. Herman Olsen presented a vocal solo. The youth group also provided special music. The Lenten Booklet of Meditations, written and compiled by church members, is now ready for distribution among members. -NWM.AKE ROUGH DRAWINGS Rough drawings of Brownie activities, with accompanying explanatory briefs were made by Brownie troop 63 at a recent meeting. LYNN WOOD v. SALLY MILLER BON VOYAGE PARTY GIVEN The Sawmill Lake home of Mrs. Dale Fawley was the scene of a bon voyage party Tuesday evening. Members of Beta Psi chapter of Lambda Chi Omega sorority honored three of their group who will leave soon for travel abroad. Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Kay) Bostick will tour Rome, Italy. Majorca, Spain, is the point of interest for Mr. and Mrs. David Berger; and Mrs. James (Babe) Bachelder and daughter Kim will visit South America. All plan to leave during March. Mrs. James Greiner and Mrs. Burdette Strombeck r were co-hostesses for the festive occasion. —NW—NORTH WEBSTER CHURCH Rev. and Mrs. Phay Plummer will be honored next Sunday, March 8, with a dinner at the church. The remainder of the day was spent shopping. March 7 will feature Men’s Night, with a potluck supper at the club house. Mrs. Mark Godshalk will be hostess on March 19, when the club meets again for the regular session. Mrs. Thurlow Mock will be cohostess.
Three From County Recognized At Air Force Academy
Three cadets from Kosciusko county were recognized recently at the air force academy in Colorado. They are cadet Rolland E. Robison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl F. Robison of Leesburg; cadet John R. Kramer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald V. Kramer of 131 N. Shore Drive, Syracuse; and cadet Roger A. Beigh, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin M. Beigh of 821 S. Country Club Drive, Warsaw. Cadet Robison has been named element leader with the rank of cadet first lieutenant at the academy. He is a member of the class of 1970 and was selected for his leadership abilities and excellence in academic and military performance. He will be commissioned a second lieutenant and awarded a BS degree upon his graduation from the academy. Cadet Robison is a 1966 graduate of Leesburg high school where he was salutatorian of his class. Kramer Kramer has been named to the
North Webster Fire Department Activities The North Webster fire department was called to Secrist Lake at 10 o’clock Sunday morning when flames from burning trash spread to bales of straw covering a well pit. Pulled From Water Royal Roeger was pulled to safety Tuesday afternoon by the North Webster fire department emergency squad after spending approximately 20 minutes in the icy waters of Barbee Lake. Roegers and his wife were fishing through the ice when the accident occurred. He suffered no apparent ill affects and was taken to his home. —NW—CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN NEWS Twenty adults and one child were present at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Royer Saturday night, when the Homebuilders class met for a party. The evening was spent playing games. The hostess served delicious refreshments. Girls To Sing A girls sextet composed of Brenda Hurd, Betty Sorenson, Deb Wolferman, Vicki Arnold, Deb Jessdp, and Rebecca Brown will be the guest musicians on March 8. Sunday morning, at 9:30. Connie Geiger will accompany the girls at the piano. —NWKIWAMS BOARD MEETING A board meeting of the Lakeland Kiwanis club was held Monday evening at the home of Rev. John Weeks. -NWLAST GAME OF SEASON Hie last basketball game of the season for North Websters’ undefeated 6th grade will be played at 4:15 Thursday afternoon against Larwill at North Webster. -NW—SOCK HOP The North Webster Band Boosters will sponsor a junior high Sock Hop in the gym on Friday night, March 6. —NW—PYTHIAN SISTERS MEET MONDAY Most excellent chief Mrs. Verland Bockman presided at the meeting of the Pythian Sisters held Monday evening at the K.P. hall in North W’ebster. Plans were discussed for the convention to be held in North Webster in April, and Mrs. Carl Kissinger, Mrs. Wilbur Rensberger and Mrs. Russel Moore were named to the dinner committee. commandant's list. He is a member of the class of 1971 and was selected for his outstanding military performance. He will wear a silver wreath designating the honor accorded him by the academy commandant of cadets. He has also been selected for the position of squadron administrative sergeant with the rank of cadet master sergeant. He is a 1967 graduate of Syracuse high school where he was a member of the national honor society and salutatorian of his graduating class. Beigh Beigh has been named to the superintendent’s list. He is a member of the class of 1973 and was selected for his outstanding achievement in both academics and military performance. He will be granted special privileges' and wear a silver star and wreath designating the honor accorded him by the academy superintendent. Beigh is a 1969 graduate of Warsaw community high school where he was salutatorian of his class.

Mrs. Helen Raver returned home Sunday noon after spending 10 days in Florida visiting her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. David Morton of West Palm Beach. David will graduate March 20 from Florida-Atlantic college in Bocaraton. He plans to teach physical education. Enroute Mrs. Raver visited briefly with Mrs. C. L. (Kate) McClure at Bainbridge, Ga. Mrs. McClure, formerly of North Webster, teaches first grade underprivileged children in Bainbridge. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reiff spent the week end with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Kent Brower, at Indianapolis. On Saturday they took the Maple Syrup tour in Parke county. Mrs. Glenn Eberly was hospitalized last week at the Goshen hospital, suffering from the lingering affects of the flu. Palmer Hasty returned home Thursday from the Parkview hospital in Fort Wayne. Mr. Hasty’s stay in the hospital was prolonged after back surgery - when he caught the flu. The North Webster fire department answered calls for three grass fires Thursday evening. Todd Niles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nub Niles, had the cast removed from his arm recently, but is

The entire congregation of the Church of God sang Happy Birthday to her during the morning services. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Box and family of Findlay, Ohio, spent the week end with Rev. and Mrs. Lewis Thomas. Mrs. Box and Mrs. Thomas are sisters. ’ Mrs. Ledru Gray attended a Day Camp training session for girl scout leaders, held at the city hall in Ligonier, Tuesday. Special speaker was Miss Ellen Kennedy of Columbia City, the district advisor. Everett Elsenrath is a patient in the intensive care unit at the Goshen hospital.. Local residents should be aware that the Barbee bridge is out and plan an alternate ropte to by-pass same.
