Goshen, attended the funeral of Mrs. Kitson s brother-in-law. Squire Robinson, m Berkley. Mich.. Sunday. Mr. Robinson, a former Ligonier resident, died of a heart attack Friday, while en route to a hospital in Berkley, He is survived by his wife, the former Frances Snyder, and several sisters.

BPW CLUB , ATTENDS BANQUET Mrs Herman Lung, president of the Ligonier Business and Professional Women’s Club, accompanied by a group of women from the club, attended a district Business and Professional meeting and banquet aV»the Women’s club in Fort Wayne, Monday evening. Bob Seivers of radio station WOWO was the guest speaker. CAMP CLUB HAS MEETING The Strawberry Valley Roamers Camping club met at the Eagles Hall Sunday afternoon. A potluck dinner was enjoyed by members proceeding the meeting. A game was played during the afternoon. / RELIEF CORPS HAS MEETING The Women’s Refief Corps met at the Eagles Hall Monday evening A patriotic program was enjoyed by members. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Lillian Brandeberry and her committee. PERRY TOWNSHIP HOMEMAKERS MEET Twenty members of the Perry’ Township Homemaker's extension club met at the home of Mrs. Stacey Archer Wednesday afternoon The history of the song of the month was read by Mrs. Ellsworth Peterson and Mrs. Anna Simmons read the verse of the month A short memorial service was held for Mrs Nona Baker who passed away on January 27th. Mrs David Dunlap read an article on ‘Giving houseplants a summer vacation outdoors" and Mrs Dean Hite told about "artificial respiration Mrs. Forrest Slabaugh brought samples of a grapenut snack and told how to make it. A report of a recent meeting at Kendallville on "Planning Lessons for Cookery." was given by Mrs. John Todd She distributed leaflets on “Outdoor cookery". Mrs. Tom
Hite demonstrated a special interest lesson on crafts. The club voted to donate to the Heart Fund: Hostesses were Mrs. Archer and Mrs. Forrest Slabaugh. Thomas Conner was re-elected for a three-year term. _ The president of the corporation will be elected at the next board of directors meeting on February 12. COMMUNITY NEWS Darold McDonald has returned to his home after three weeks in Goshen hospital following a heart attack. Mrs. Mildred Vance and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vance were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Poppy and family in North Manchester. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kumnick observed their 47th wedding anniversary Wednesday. Feb. 4. They will celebrate with a family dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Lung, in Goshen, on Sunday. Pupils of the West Noble sixth grade and their teachers attended the Shriners circus at the Memorial Coliseum. Fort Wayne, last Saturday, as guests of the area Shriners. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stutzman and daughter of Bronson. Mich., were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Renner. Donald Robbins of Cromwell is a patient in the Lutheran Hospital. Fort Wayne. Don is undergoing treatment for arthritis. Mrs. Elizabeth Atterbury, former Ligonier resident, has been discharged from the Lutheran hospital and is at her home in Fort Wayne. Harold Renner underwent eye surgery Wednesday at ParkviewMemorial hospital. Fort Wayne, after being injured in an accident at his home. , LAKELAND LOCALS Mr. and Mrs. George Auer of Milford had as their Sundayevening guests. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hontz of Larwill and Mrs. Edith Shoemaker of North Webster Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cormahy of r 1 Milford spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. John Brown and family in Fort Wayne.
Preparation Continues For N. C. Application W'awasee high school has made application to North Central Association for membership in that organization. Membership in North Central Association requires meeting the educational standards and commitments as set up by that evaluation body. The recipient school must not only meet the present standards, but it must commit itself to a continuous evaluation program In preparation for the North Central evaluation. W’awasee high school has been involved in a self-study program throughout the year. This self-study process has included an analysis of the existing program with attention given to both the present strengths and weaknesses The faculty has been divided into work committees which have made extensive research in various areas including school and community, philosophy and objectives, curriculum, student activities, facilities, educational media services, guidance, and staff and administration. At the present time the steering committee is compiling a summary of the self-study. Members of the steering committee are: Philip K. Fawley, Chairman, Henry L. Smith.’ Dorin D. Kesler. Craig Tucker Heads Junior Happy Bachelors By BRIAN TUCKER The Milford Junior Happy Bachelors 4-H club met on February 5 to elect the following officers: President — Craig Tucker Vice president — Fred Beer Secretary — Debbie Shearer Treasurer — Tom Sorenson Reporter — Brian Tucker Health and safety — Steve Beer Recreation — Ron Beer Song leader — Don Buhrt Max Duncan and Steve Haab will be leaders again this year. Enrollment cards were filled out and the meeting was dismissed. Mrs. Michael Zimmerman, Jr., of r 1 Milford attended a baby shower for Mrs. Richard Bender at the home of Mrs. Ron Kreider at Milford lake Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. John Hare of r 1 Milford and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Scott of r 3 Syracuse had dinner in Fort W'ayne Saturday evening honoring the birthdays of Mr. and Mrs. John Hare.

He stated his son’s class is to meet for 50 minutes a day, five days per week, however, the boys attend class for two days and spend the next two days in the quiet study hall. When questioning school officials he found there were too many boys enrolled in the class therefore only half of them could attend at one time. He stated he was promised this would be worked out but the same thing happened again this semester. After discussing the situation the board agreed superintendent Arnold should talk with the high school principal and have the principal contact Mr. Busch. Mr. Busch also questioned the condition of some of the equipment being used in the department, stating there was a gas line behind the arc welding table that could cause a problem if struck with an arc. He continued that the arc welding equipment, too, needed to be improved. The board will see this equipment is checked. President Jerry Helvey also recommended the insurance company be contacted to see if one of its representatives would give the department a walkthrough check. A certificate of payment for W. A. Sheets and Sons. Inc., in the amount of $39,020 for construction of Wawasee high school was approved on a motion by Floyd Baker and second by Dr. Robert Craig. A balance of $5,918 50 remains payable on the contract. A request from the Syracuse public library board to reappoint Philip Fawley. English teacher at Wawasee high school, for a four year term to expire December 31.1973. was approved on a motion by C. W. Kroh and a second by Dr. Craig. Mr. Arnold requested the board members reserve April 21 for a dinner meeting with the North

Central visitation team who will be evaluating the Wawasee high school program. At the close of the meeting business manager Marion Lantz reported considerable trouble with one of the boilers at the Syracuse junior high school with tests currently underway to find the cause. Donate Prater Killed In Crash Donate (Donie* Prater. 19, 320 east Madison street, Goshen, stepbrother of Mrs. William (Bethel* Barth of Milford, was pronounced dead at the scene following a onecar accident on south Main street in Goshen Saturday. Prater moved to Goshen from Warsaw five months ago and was employed by Goshen Tree Service at the time of his death. A passenger in the vehicle, Mary Prater, the victim's sister, was treated at the Goshen hospital for shock and lacerations. She was dismissed on Sunday. Prater was driving a car belonging to Glen Yocum of Goshen. As he backed from the driveway of the Robert Scoles. Jr., residence, he struck a post causing a rear tire to go flat. He continued north on Main street at a high rate of speed with the flat tire, losing control of the car and striking a concrete abutment and telephone pole. Prater was thrown from the car and died as the result of a basal skull fracture. He was the son of Callie H. and Edith (Holbrook* Prater and was born in Warsaw April 19, 1950. He had resided in this county all of his life prior to moving to Goshen. Surviving with his father of New Castle are two brothers, Clayton tfhd Callahan, both of Warsaw; the sister. Mary, of Goshen: stepbrother, Beecher Howard of Goshen; and three stepsisters. Mrs. Barth. Mrs. Robert (Jewel* Scoles. Jr., and Mrs. Wilder (Ethel* Thompson of Warsaw.
Services were held in Warsaw on Tuesday with burial in Oakwood cemetery. MILFORD COLOR GUARD SEES PRESIDENT NIXON The Ancil Geiger post 226, American Legion color guard of Milford was present when President Richard Nixon visited Indianapolis last Thursday. The color guard was invited by the state Legion commander to attend the ceremonies. They appeared in uniform but did not march. Members of the color guard are Larry Bray, Wade Mishler, Bill Wollman and Bruce McClintic. They reported their trip was interesting with heavy security and no cameras^allowed. ■ i, ATTEND BIRTHDAY P.ARTY SATURDAY Mrs. Hazel Kline and her two great-granddaughters, Dane and Denice Berkeypile of Milford, attended the birthday party of Dorothy Hathaway at Claypool on Saturday; Dorothy is the five-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Hathaway and is also a greatgranddaughter of Mrs. Kline. Mrs. Charles Smoker and Letha Hathaway also attended the party.
