John Amos Roberts Last rites were held in the North Webster funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday for John Amos Roberts, 69, of r 1 North Webster (Yellow Banks). Rev. John Weeks, pastor of the United Methodist church of North Webster, officiated. Interment was in the North Webster cemetery. Mock addition. * Mr. Roberts died Friday night in Whitley County hospital in Columbia City. Death was attributed to complications. He had been ill for the past five weeks. He was bom at Fort Wayne l on April 24, 1900, to Amos and Alma (Henry) Roberts, now deceased. Most of his life, was spent in Fort Wayne, but he moved to the North Webster area 10 years ago. He was united in marriage to Mae Jester, who survives, March 29, 1947. By occupation the deceased was a weightmaster for General Electric in Fort Wayne for 22 years.. Surviving in addition to hs widow are one step-son, Rene Wygant of Columbus. Ohio; three stepgrandchildren; and one sister, Juanita LeSure, of Fort Wayne. Byron E. Jester Death claimed Byron E. Jester. 62 . 801 Rex, Muncie, at 3:04 p.m. February 2. Mr. Jester was the father of Mrs. Owen (Saundra) Cobbum of Syracuse and a summer resident of Lake Wawasee. Jester died’ of an apparent heart attack at his place of business. He was credit manager for Hartley Oil Co. He was bom m Muncie on October 26. 1907. and lived in that city his entire life. He and MonzeHe Hines were married in 1938. He was a member of the Hazelwood Christian church and Masonic lodge 46 F and AM. Surviving with the widow and

Robert Earl Treadway Robert Earl Treadway, 66. 304 Dolan Drive, Syracuse, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday from an apparent heart attack 'while Visiting in the home bf a neightor, Robert Dean. 400 South Parkway Drive, Syracuse. Mr. Treadway was born September 2.1903, in Winimac, to James A. and Claudia (Troutman) Treadway. He was united in marriage to the former Pauline Stetler of New Mexico, Ind., on December 28. 1927. A carpenter and cabinet maker, Mr. Treadway had been a resident of Syracuse the past 45 years, and had been employed by the Liberty Coach Co., Inc. Surviving With the widow are three daughters. Mrs. Charles (Nancy) Searfoss, Syracuse. Mrs. Clifford'(Patricia) Cripe, Eau Gallie, Fla., and Mrs. William (Sharon) Myers. Princeton: a son. Robert, Los Gatos. Calif.; 12 grandchildren: two sisters, Mrs. Asmond (Martha) Pofsley. Santa Anna. Calif , and Mrs Clark (Lucille) Peter. Logansport Services were held Saturday at the Harris funeral home m Syracuse with Rev. Kennard Robison officiating. Burial was in the Syracuse cemetery. Ray Franklin Swank Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon (Wednesday) in the Harris funeral home at Syracuse for Ray Franklin Swank. 56. 906 Chicago street, Syracuse. Mr. Swank died at 8:10 a.m. Monday in the Goshen hospital of complications. He was born in Syracuse on January 3, 1914, to Bert and Iva (Kelly) Swank and lived in the area his entire life. On April 18, 1961 he and Elma Baugher were married. He was an employee of the B and O railroad. Surviving with the wife are a step-daughter Mrs. Robert (Esther) Stahly of Goshen; a sister, Mrs Mae Troxell of Nappanee; two ... stepgrandchildren; three stepsisters, Mrs. Rosetta Markham and Mrs. Patricia Hall, both of Syracuse, and Mrs. Robert
Wenger of Goshen, and a stepbrother, William Hess of Syracuse. Rev. Jack Farrell will officiate at the service and burial will be in the Syracuse cemetery. Mrs. Kenneth R. Vance Mrs. Kenneth (Pauline N.) Vance, 55, r 1 Syracuse, died unexpectedly at 10 a.m. Monday in the Goshen hospital where she was taken by ambulance Saturday. Mrs. Vance was tom October 2, 1914, at Springfield. Mo., and had lived at Syracuse for the past six months. She had lived in the Elkhart and Goshen areas most of her life. On December 24,1933, she was married to Kenneth R. Vance, who survives. She was employed by the Chicago Telephone Company, Elkhart, for five years, and was a member of the CIO union at Elkhart. Surviving with the husband are two daughters. Mrs. Thomas (Yvonne “Bonnie”) Shaffer, Elkhart, and Mrs. Richard (Kay) Burke, r 1 Syracuse; a son, J. D. Vance, r 1 Syracuse; six grandchildren; two brothers, John Edgar Knight, Elkhart and Wesley Ernest Knight, Apple Valley, Calif. Services will be held Thursday at Goshen with burial in Oak Ridge cemetery. Richard Hocker Richard Hocker, 50, Goshen, died at 4:50 p.m. in Goshen hospital where he had been a patient for a month for treatment of a heart ailment. He was the son of Mrs. Phoebe Hocker of Syracuse and had resided with his mother at one time. . Mr. Hocker was born February 24,1919, at Findlay. Ohio, a son of Clarence J: and Phoebe (Hodgson) Hocker. He married the former Rose Ellen Inbody, February 19, 1942, she preceded him in death in 1962. A veteran of World War 11, Mr. Hocker was employed at Mutschler Brothers Company at Nappanee. He was a member of the First English Lutheran church at Tiffin, Ohio. Surviving with his mother are two sons, Richard, Jr., Fort Wayne, Jeffrey Lynn, at home; four daughters, Mrs. Pat (Sandra Kay) Hanshew, Syracuse. Mrs. Lester (Vicki Sue) Kincaid and Mrs. Jerry (Juliann) Smith, both of Goshen and Miss Barbara Hocker. Fort Wayne; and four grande hildren. Funeral services were held at Goshen Tuesday. Rev. Harold Garner officiated and burial was in the Maple Grove cemetery at Findlay, Ohio.
Lloyd t>. Kershner Lloyd Kershner, 56, of Elkhart, brother of Clifford Kershner of Milford, died Monday in the Elkhart hospital. Mr. Kershner was born July 8, 1913, in Bristol, and was married to Dora E. Kopenhaver of Angola December 21, 1957. Other survivors are six daughters, Mrs. Richard Shoemaker, Portland, Oreg., Mrs. Sandra Atkins, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Adrian Gallardo, Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Michael Ernsberger, Elkhart, Norma Kay and Linda Dianna, both at home; two sons, Lloyd, Jr., and David, both Ek home; a foster daughter, Becky Eggleston, at home; nine grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Annie Kershner, Elkhart; two other brothers, Lyle and Bill, both of Elkhart; and four sisters, Mrs. Dora Eggleston. Mrs. Elmer Massing, Mrs. Harold Bleile and Mrs. Mary Farnsworth, all of Elkhart. Services will be held today (Wednesday) at the Walley-Mills-Zimmerman funeral home in Elkhart and burial will be in Prairie Street cemetery. Junior Warriors Receive Two Sound Defeats Waw-asee’s high-flying junior varsity team was handed two sound defeats back to back over the week end as they were topped by Rochester on Friday 56-48 and by West Noble on Saturday 61-53. Coach Mike Kurtz’s five had only been beaten once going into the week end’s play. They have 16 victories to their credit. Jeff Hughes was high point man on Friday as he added 19 points for the young Warriors. Tom Denton and Mike Martens led the Zebras with 16 each. Wawasee was on top 16-10 at the end of the first quarter, 32-27 at half-time and 41-39 at the end of the third quarter but the Zebras outscored the host team in the final stanza to secure the victory. On Saturday Wawasee was again in the lead at tm? first stop 16-10, however, the Chargers tied the score at 27 all at half-time. Wawasee was again on top when the third quarter ended with a 4743 score but the Chargers went on to win the game. The Chargers’ Steve Saggars was high for both teams with 24 markers. Tim Blue was tops for WHS with 14 followed by Tom Fribley with 12. A guest of Mrs. F. J. Banning of r 1 last week was Mrs. Dale Grimes of r 2 Syracuse.

Deborah, who weighed four pounds, four ounces at birth, was placed in an incubator. The Bjellas have another daughter, Denise who is seven years old. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bjella, Syracuse, and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Stewart, Mancos, Colo. SMITH, daughter Mr. and Mrs. Martin E. Smith of r 1 Leesburg are parents of a six pound, two ounce daughter tom at 3:23 p.m. Wednesday. The mother is the former Carolyn J. Fall. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Fall of Berrien Springs, Mich. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Martin Smith of Battle Creek, Mich. ' RUMFELT, Terri Lynn Mr. and Mrs. Dane Rumfelt of r 1 Milford are the parents of a daughter. Terri Lynn, tom at 6:38 a.m. February 6 at G <hen hospital. The baby weighed six pounds, eight ounces and was 18 inches in length. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Beer of r 1 Milford and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rumfelt of r 2 Milford. Maternal great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Beer, all of Milford. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Rarig of Sebring, Fla. Paternal greatgrandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Henry Biller of r 2 Milford. GROSS, son Mr. and Mrs. Gary L. Gross of Winona Lake are parents of a son born Sunday afternoon. North Webster Continues Winning Ways In County Tournament
N6rth Webster’s powerful Trojan team continued its winning ways in the county junior high tourney which got underway Monday as they downed Akron 56-41 in the final game of the evening. Jim Stout lead his Trojan team with 17 points and Greg Fidler added 15. Mark Reiff was high with 14 rebounds. Akron's Filden was high for the Flyers with 16 points. « Webster will play Clay-Lake next Monday at 6:30 in the semifinals: Milford - Syracuse Both Milford and Syracuse were eliminated Monday as the Trojans were stopped by ClayLake 55-44 and Syracuse was defeated by Talma 44-20. Mann was the leading scorer of the Milford-Clay-Lake game as he hit for 22 points for his team. Milford’s Wollman was high for the Trojans with 15 while Wallbeser followed with nine. Car-Truck Accident At North Webster Monday
Northern county commissioner Maurice Dorsey and North Webster auctioneer Phil Fidler were involved in a car-truck accident at the comer of Epworth Road and county road 800 East at 3:25 p.m. Monday, doing damage to both vehicles, but injuring
Court News Foreclosure Home Loan and Savings Assn., has filed a complaint to foreclose a real estate mortgage suit in Kosciusko superior court against John W. and Mary DeWright of r 2 Leesburg and James H. and Lois M. Turner, Wabash. The plaintiff seeks a judgment in the amount of $3,717.11 plus attorneyfees of $1,040 and asks that a mortgage on w real estate described as Lot 34 in Bell Rohr Park, Tippecanoe Lake, be foreclosed. Appointed Executrix Ruth Gunter of r 5 Warsaw, has been appointed executor of the estate of her father, the late Edgar Templin of r 2 Leesburg, who died January 22, 1970. The estate is estimated at $50,000 in personal property. Heirs are Mrs. Gunter; a daughter, Martha Lou Larmar of Eaton; and two sons, Harold Templin of r 2 Leesburg and Willard Templin of r 1 Milford. Divorces Filed The following divorce suit has been filed in Kosciusko superior court: Eva M. Risner. Milford, vs James E. Risner. They were married on December 22, 1963 and separated on January 27, 1970. License Suspended Orville E. Evans, 24. of 200 S. Huntington street. Syracuse, had lis driver’s license suspended for driving while suspended, according to the latest report from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Indianapolis. Suspension is from March 7, 1970 to July 4, 1970.'

HELPING HANDS HOLD MEETING The February meeting of the Helping Hands Missionary Society of the Pleasant View Community church of northwest of Warsaw was held at the home of Mrs. Tom Smithson of r 2 Leesburg. The meeting opened with Mrs. Don Clase leading in prayer. Roll call was answered by giving a testimony. The business meeting was conducted by Mrs. Max Miller. IV was decided to have a father ano son banquet on March 20.

Hospital Notes MILFORD RESIDENT HAS SURGERY Wilbur E. Baumgartner, custodian at the Milford elementary school, is resting comfortably in the Saint Joseph hospital in South Bend following surgery Tuesday morning on the left side of his neck for the removal of a blood clot. He had a similar operation on the right side of his neck on Monday, Feb. 2. Michael Scott Lynch, 2, son of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Lunch of r 2 Leesburg, was admitted to Murphy Medical Center Wednesday and dismissed Friday. Mrs. Carl Doty and, infant daughter of r 2 Leesburg were dismissed Thursday from Murphy Medical Center. Raymond Beatty of Leesburg was treated in the emergency room of Murphy Medical Center Thursday. Oiauncey Garver of r 1 Leesburg was dismissed from Whitley County hospital Thursday. Amber Beatty of Leesburg was dismissed from Murphy Medical Center Tuesday. Frank Radar and son Mitch. 12, Leesburg, were admitted to Murphy Medical Center Friday. Mitch was dismissed over the week end and Frank was dismissed Monday. Mrs. Frank Green of r 2 Milford had surgery Monday in the Goshen hospital. William M. Adkins of r 1 Milford was treated in the emergency room of Murphy Medical Center over the week end. Mrs. Maury Snyder, Syracuse, is a patient in the Goshen hospital where she underwent surgery this week. Mrs. Emory Guy, Syracuse, a patient in the Goshen hospital, is in traction and somewhat improved. Vickie Arnold Receives Scholarship VALPARAISO — Vickie Arnold, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don H. Arnold of Milford, has been awarded a president’s honorary scholarship to Valparaiso university. Miss Arnold will be enrolled in the college of arts and sciences and will be a graduate of Wawasee high school. Miss Arnold is a member of the National Honor Society at Wawasee.

Extreme icy roads was considered the cause of the accident. Dorsey was en route to the North Webster elevator with a load of ear corn when the accident occurred. No estimate of the damages to both vehicles was readily available.
