Rinker Boat a leader * A lesson in success can always be learned by watching a closeknit family-owned and familyoperated business. The lesson: that one can be small and efficient and still be a leader in his field. Such is the case with the Rinker Boat Co. of West Chicago street. Syracuse. This small manufacturer of pleasure boats is gaining a wide reputation in Indiana. Ohio and Michigan (%nd to some extent in Illinois) with its line of boats known by the trade name of Rinkerbulit Boats. They have 100 dealers selling their boats. John. Jan and Jim The three brothers who operate the business are John. Jan and Jim Rinker (a fourth brother is a West Coast star college basketball player), and they began building boats in Indianapolis for their dad’s sporting goods store there. At the time John was a fourth grader. 14 years ago, and Jan was a year younger Their first boats were sheet plywood car top fishing boats, and they sold From this humble start as youngsters, the boys found something they could build that would sell on the market. 19 Foot Model Last Thursday the boys ran out the prototype of their 19 foot bow. rider inboard-outboard with a conventional deep-V hull with an open bow like a tri-hull.
