Chore-Time a world leader in poultry feeding equipment

Chore-Time Equipment, Inc., moved to Milford in April of 1954 and has been one of the fastest growing industries in the Lakeland area since that time. Moving from Ohio where it was founded two years earlier, ChoreTime was originally set up as a sales organization with no manufacturing facilities. The first item of the company was the 130-pound poultry feeder that was made by another manufacturer and was sold exclusively by Chore-Time. This type of operation was continued until November of 1953 when an automatic bog fountain heater was designed. The first of these was manufactured in the basement of one of the original founder’s home. When Chore-Time Equipment. Inc , first came to the Lakeland area production of roll-away and a standard laying nest, which had recently been developed, was begun along with other items in what was at one time an old body shop about the size of a two-car garage. At that time the firm employed one other person It has since grown to the point where it employees some 125 persons with an approximate monthly payroll of $65,000 and reports over $4 million in annual sales / Howard S. Bf em beck is president and general manager of the firm. Forrest L. Ramser is vice president and sales manager and Charles J. Stump is assistant general manager and secretary. In July of 1954 Chore-Time Equipment, Inc., took over a manufacturing building of approximately 5,000 square feet of space on north Main street and started manufacturing more of their own products. It was about this time too that they began to expand their line considerably. In 1955 an egg washer was developed with the results being the Air Cushion Egg Washer, one of the leading egg washers in the field. Other items too were added to the company’s growing list. Three years ago Chore-Time N.V. was opened in Maldegem, Belgium with a total employment of some 35 to 40 persons and August of 1909 saw the opening of Chore-Time—Brock, Inc., in Athens, Ga.
