Zurcher Leads Warriors To 87-77 Victory Friday
Senior hotshot Steve Zurcher led the Wawasee Warriors to an 87-77 victory over a tough Jimtown team, last Friday night as he hit for 38 points With Zurcher in double figures for the evening were Dave Elliott who hit 16. Mark Thomas with 11 and John Hamilton with 10. Kim Berlick led the visiting Jimmieswith 19 points as Bob Spaugh and Doug Simper netted 16 each and Doering hit for 10. Elliott and Thanas also hauled down 14 and 13 rebounds to help the Warriors cause The team, however, was outrebounded by Jimtown 48-47 The local boys hit 35 of 48 from the charity stripe for 72 per cent while Jimtown hit 17 of 24 fa 70 per cent. From the field the Jimmies hit 33 of 80 shots fa 36 per cent while Wawasee hit 26 of 71 fa 37 per cent. Wawasee jumped to an 8-0 lead then stood still as the Jimmies began to click and tied the score at 18 all when the first quarter gun sounded. By half-time, hqwever, Wawasee held a commanding 40-33 lead. In the third quarter it was again catchup time with the score being 56-55 at the gun. The Jimmies continued to stay up with the Warriors and came to a 77-75 score as the clock showed 49

Devotions were read by Mrs. Richard Smith and a mystery supper, complete with individual mystery menus for each person to choose from, was served to 25 adults and six children. The Fellowship class members were guests for the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Levi Chupp were hosts fa the event.
North Webster Sixth Graders Win Over Milford North Webster’s Trojans ventur ed into Milford country to defeat the host team, 26-25, in an, overtime contest. It was the Milford sixth grade’s first defeat in four games this season. North Webster showed excellent ball handling and rebounding skill on offense and defense. North Webster held a slim 14-12 halftime lead. At the end of regulation time the score was tied 24-24, In the overtime North W’ebster hit on both attempts from the line, while Milford hit only one of several attempts. The final score was North Webster 26—Milford 25. High scorer for the game was Robin Zurcher with 14 followed by team mate Mark Bowser with 10. High for Milford was Henson with 10. In a “B” team contest. Milford overpowered North Webster 21-12. Box scores of the game follow: North Webster—Reiff 000, Scorcher 62-14, Rhodes 102, Vanator 000, Bowser 42-10. for 11 field ’ goals, four foul shots and 26 points. Milford—Fingerle Oil, Troup 339, Mehl 124. Henson 34-10. Sorensen Oil for a total of seven field goals. 11 foul shots and 25 points. Milford Falls To West Noble Milford was defeated by a tall West Noble team last Thursday by the score of 47 to 46. Larry Kaiser and Dan Yoder, led the scoring with 20 and 15 points respectively, but failed to get any scoring help from their teammates beneath the basket. Ben Waldbeser led the Trojans defensively and in rebounding. Milford's record now stands at nine wins against three looses. Milford travels to Claypool this Thursday at 4:15 to do battle with Clay-Lake Next week Milford winds up the regular season by hosting Talma Monday, Feb. 2. at 4:15 and Kendallville Thursday, Feb. 5 at 6. Webster Wins Seventh Grode Tourney
The North Webster Trojans captured the annual fctur-way seventh grade basketball tournament held last Saturday at Syracuse junior high school. North Webster, under the guidance of Jim Hite, defeated Milford by the score of 29 to 22. This championship game was very exciting throughout the entire contest, and it was not until the last few minutes that North Webster pulled away to capture the crown.
