REMEMBER WHEN IT HAPPENED IN SYRACUSE ONE YEAR AGO Mrs. Theldon L. Kline, 45, died Saturday in the Goshen hospital. Surviving with the husband is a daughter, one son, two grandchildren and two sisters. Mrs. Robert Brewster, Syracuse Lake, is a patient in the Goshen hospital where she underwent surgery Monday. Mrs. Agnes Stiffler has gone to Winchester to visit her daughter and grandchildren. She will visit her other children before returning home. Becky Kolberg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Berton Kolberg, r 2, has received the Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow award. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Thornburg are the parents of a daughter born January 15 in the Goshen hospital. FIVE YEARS AGO At the regular meeting of the town board of trustees, the board reports on the condition of the scout cabin. Dennis Lee .Brock, 21, of the U. S. navy, died of the results of an auto accident at' Long Beach, Calif., January 15. Surviving are his widow, his parents, one brother, three sisters, a grandfather, two grandmothers, and a greatgrandmother. Mrs. Bill Coburn entertained at a birthday party Saturday honoring her son, Clark. Mrs. Charles McKibbin has been released from the Goshen hospital. The fire department was called Saturday evening to the home of Burton Cunningham on U. S. 6. The house was damaged $1,500. TEN Y”EARS AGO Mrs. Catherine Beck, a lifelong resident of the Syracuse community, celebrated her 96th birthday anniversary at open house for members of her family and a fewclose friends on Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Lowell Stidham entered the Elkhart hospital Sunday and underwent surgery on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Koble are the parents of a daughter bom on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at Denver, Colo. Marshall Coy, Delbert Whitehead, Ernie Rogers and James Fry attended the hockey games at the coliseum in Fort Wayne Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Herschell Leatherman left last week for Lake Worth, Fla. They were accompanied by her father. James Waltz, and Mrs. Ada Zeltinger. Poyser, and Jack Nickel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nickel, were married Thursday afternoon in the Methodist parsonage by Rev. C. M. Fawns. Charles Dietrick, a student at Ball State college, spent the week end at his home here. Charles H. Parsons, 84, a former Syracuse resident, died Monday in his home at Rosemead, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Niccum of Goshen spent Friday and Saturday here in the home of their daughter, Mrs. Ray Frevert, and famfly. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Shane and children spent Saturday at Goshen. FORTY-FIVE YEARS AGO Ethel Burson, daughter of Mr. and Mrsx James Burson, passed away January 18 of scarlet fever. Miss Ann Lenore Stover, a teacher in the public left for her home at Conrad, lowa, Wednesday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Deardorf returned home from Kalamazoo, Mich., Sunday where they spent several weeks in the home of their daughter, Mrs. H. D. McClintic. Mrs. Guy Ott and Mrs. Robert Strieby spent Saturday at Goshen. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Rentfrow went to Elkhart Tuesday to see their grandson, Robert Vorhis, who is recovering from the operation of having his leg amputated just above the knee.
