Junior High Hi Lites North Webser JHS News By Sue Blue It was a brisk December 4 and bus number 24 was nosily ambling down a street in South Bend. Inside the bus, jabbering excitedly, were the eighth grade students of North Webster junior high school. A few weeks earlier, Mrs. Lois Pence of a South Bend television station, had written and asked the class to come visit the station. After arriving at the broadcast center, the students were ushered quickly into their seats and were guests on the show, “Homemaker’s Time.” They also took an interesting tour of the building, which holds the largest commercial television station in Indiana. The class then ate lunch in a cafeteria at the city and afterwards arrived at the city’s newspaper plant where they saw huge presses, teletype machines, and all the other things needed in making a newspaper. On the way home, if you could have looked in the bus you’d have seen approximately 55 boys and girls, tired, but happily reading their souvenir newspapers. It was an interesting day for them all. Sponsors making the trip were Mr. Phil Dick, Mrs. Carl Bugmeier, and Mrs. Linda Brown, English teachers.
