Senior Citizens Hold Annual Christinas Party Charlotte Blue chapter of the Turkey Creek Senior Citizens at Syracuse held its annual Christmas dinner and party Thursday night. A carry-in dinner with ham and rolls furnished by the club was served at 6:30 p.m. The tables were decorated in keeping with the Christmas season. A short business session was held with president Mrs. Georgia Buster presiding. Christmas greetings were read from absence members. The president reminded the members of the Business and Professional Women’s club production “Show Boat” which is to be held in April. There was a gift exchange followed by games. The hostesses were Mrs. Buster and Mrs. Helen Overstreet and Mrs. Agnes Stiffler

The next regular meeting will be January 8 at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Benner and Mrs. Treadway will be the hostesses. Bill Whisler Buys Louis Byland Home Tippecanoe township trustee and Mrs. Willis Whisler purchased the Louis Byland property on Lake Wawasee this week and plan to move to their new home in the near future. Whisler, who is filling out the turstee’s term of the late H. A. Ganger, said he would resign the first of the year, allowing the board of county commissioners to select a replacement. Mrs. Mae Rinker, Syracuse, left last Thursday afternoon for Marion where she will visit relatives.

United Methodist Church Is Scene Os Rumbles-Dippon Wedding Dec. 6
Wedding vows were exchanged Saturday evening, Dec. 6, at seven o’clock in the Milford United Methodist church by Miss Carol Rumbles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rumbles, Parkview Court, r 3 Ligonier, and Jeffrey Dippon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Dippon, r 1 Milford. Rev. Richard Sumner of Sweetser and Rev. Ralph Karstedt of Milford officia ad at the double-ring ceremony. Palms and candelabra in the worship center formed the background decor at the church. Nuptial music was provided by Mrs. Carlyle Barnes of Milford who played an organ prelude. Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a floor length gown of off white satin brocade, designed and made by the bridegroom’s mother. It featured a high neckline with a mandarin collar, edged in narrow chantilly lace and covered with seed pearls, rhinestones and silver beads. The long, gathered sleeves were fitted at the wrists and edged with lace. A chapel length train fell from the back of the empire waist, and narrow rows of white satin ribbon in chantilly lace extended from the neckline to the hemline and adorned the sleeves, waistline and chapel train. Her waterfall bouffant cathedral length veil of imported chantilly lace, edged with seed pearls and arorra crystal beads. honor. Mrs. David Jolls of East Lansing, Mich., served as bridesmaid. Their gowns were identical of forest green velvet, with A-line skirts, off white empire waists of chiffon and crepe. The chiffon sleeves were gathered at the wrists with a ruffle. Rows of chiffon ruffles adorned the bodice from the neck line and featured a round neckline with a pointed collar. They wore shoulder length veils of forest green, silk illusion, and head pieces were in shades of dark green velvet and lime leaves, sparkled with sequins, rhinestones and seed pearls. Their flowers were a cascade of American beauty red roses and holly. Gary Miller, Milford, was the best man. Dave Rumfelt, Milford, Don Bucher, cousin of the bridegroom of Saranac lake, N.Y., seated the guests. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church social room. Assisting with the serving were Mrs. Frank Smith, Ligonier, Mrs. William Smith, Saginaw, Mich., aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Wayne Bucher, Syracuse, aunt of the bridegroom. Rebecca Stevens of Elkhart and Mrs. Gary Chambers of Milford presided at the gift table. Mrs. Harry Burleson, Saint Joseph, Mich., sister of the bridegroom was in charge of the guest book. The couple are residing in Milford. Miss Marsha Trimmer of Goshen is visiting her grandmother, Mrs. Merl Laughlin at Syracuse.

Craig Baker Receives U. S. Navy Promotion USS SEMlNOLE—Machinist mate third class Craig R. Baker, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Baker of r 1, Leesburg, was advanced to his present rate while serving aboard the USS Seminole. His advancement was based on time in service and rate, military appearance, performance of duties and his score on the Navywide test for promotion. Donald Kurtz Promoted In Viet Nam U. S. ARMY-Donald S. Kurtz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald F. C Lee Village Fort Campbell, Ky., 52223 Fairfield Joins Northeast Study Council Thursday Members of the Fairfield school board, meeting in regular session Thursday evening, voted to accept an invitation to join the Northeast study council. Schools from this area in the council include Whitko, West Noble, Middlebury, Concord and Bogo. Board members accepted the transfer of James Hester to Goshen high school as he is unable to take French in the Fairfield schools. A letter was read from Robert Alban of the division of inspection of the state department of public instruction, indicating a first class commission for Fairfield. The letter also indicated it was apparent the school had been upgraded since Mr. Alban’s visit last year. April 9 was set as parent conference day. No school will be held that day. The superintendent was given permission to hire an additional teacher for the math-science team at the high school. A discussion was held on the possibility of up-dating the school survey that was taken by Ball State. The up-dating would concentrate on the elementary grades where over-crowding is evident in the New Paris school. This was tabled. The next meeting will be January 8.

Children Os Wawasee Heights Baptist Church Have Christmas Program
Recently the Sunday school teachers of the beginner class through the junior department entertained their pupils during an afternoon of fun, feasting, and fellowship. Mrs. Kammerdiener Hostess To Shady Ladies ■ # A Christmas exchange was held Thursday night, Dec. 11, when the Shady Ladies Bunco club of Syracuse met with Mrs. Ralph Kammerdiener, r 1 Syracuse. Plans were discussed for the club to go out for a Valentine supper on February 12 at which time secret pals will be revealed. Mrs. Lloyd Kammerdiener and Mrs. Fred Hapner are in charge of arrangements. Prizes for the evening went to Mrs. Lloyd Kammerdiener, travel and bunco; Mrs. Garry Eyer, high; and Mrs. Larry Miller, low. Gifts were received by Mrs. Ralph Kammerdiener and Mrs. George Bowler from their secret pals. Refreshments were served by the hostess. The next meeting will be January 8 with Mrs. Charles Vanderveer. HELPING HANDS MEET WITH MRS. NEVA REBMAN The Helping Hands Missionary Society of the Pleasant View Community church, northwest of Warsaw, held its Christmas party and December meeting in the home of Mrs. Neva Rebman of Warsaw recently. Mrs. Agnes Derr of Winona Lake was in charge of the evening program with Claire Kohler of Grace college assisting. Mrs. Derr led in prayer and gave the devotions entitled “The Name of Jesus”. Different scripture references were read by the ladies present. The devotional part of the meeting was closed by Mrs. Grace Dock. Games were played and a gift exchange was held. Refreshments were served to the 15 ladies present. The January meeting will be held in the home of Mrs. Olive Rebman of Warsaw.
The party was held in the new church basement which was decorated for the Christmas season.
Program Sunday
Next Sunday, Dec. 21, these children will present a program to the entire Sunday school. The public is welcome to attend and enjoy the children as they present the Christmas story.
PROGRAM AND BIRTHDAY PARTY SUNDAY NIGHT The annual Christmas program and birthday party for the Christ Child was held Sunday night at the Milford Christian church. Mrs. Charles J. Teeple, junior superintendent, was in charge of the birthday party while Mrs. Elaine Hall, assistant superintendent, was in charge of the program. The program, under Mrs. Hall’s direction, was presented in the church sanctuary at 7 p.m. and featured youngsters from the primary and junior departments. Following the program the giant birthday cake was presented at the front of the church and the angels from the Christmas program lit the 19 candles, each representing a century since the birth of the Christ Child. Happy Birthday was sung and an offering which had been taken during the last few weeks in the Sunday school classes presented. This money will be sent to the Indiana Christian Children’s Home at Ladoga for a Christmas gift to the children there. The cake and punch were served in the fellowship room of the church following the program with members of the Ladies Aid assisting Mrs. Teeple. The room was decorated in a poinsettia theme. Treats were also presented to each youngster in attendance.
