:•: facts about •:• ‘OUR TOWN’ Milford, Ind. By JERI SEELY Our picture of the week is of the Baltimore and Ohio and interurban crossing at Milford Junction. As we understand it this was a very busy place at one time. The postcard is not dated, but it was taken years ago . . . note the ladies* long dresses in the right of the photo. Many persons traveled to the Junction from Nappanee and Syracuse to catch the interurban into Warsaw and those from Indianapolis who came to Lake Wawasee each summer would travel to the Junction where they would catch another train to Syracuse and the lake area. How do you like the old news at the top of our colunm? We’ve heard pros and cons over the past week end. Craig Ruch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Ruch of Our Town, wants to see more news about the people of Our Town. . . he’s not interested in the old news. On the other hand friend husband and I received a letter from Clarence and Juanita Miller of Mesa, Ariz., in which they state they have been following this column and it brings back memories. They also passed on a little tidbit that I wasn’t aware of . . . while the Methodists were without a building (we published picture of the old ME church which burned in the 1920’5) they worshipped with the Christian congregation. The Millers are former area residents. Craig is a freshman at Indiana Central college in Indianapolis and was in Milford for the Thanksgiving holiday. Also visiting in the Ruch home over the holiday week end was Nancy Ruch of Sweetser. Our congratulations go to Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence (“Bud”) Sawyer of Waubee lake on the occasion 'of their 25th wedding anniversary. They were married on December 6, 1944, in Nappanee. The Sawyers are neighbors of my parents and long-time family friends. They have three children —Mrs. Steven (Connie* Schermerhorn of Roann: Kent Jan, a student at Wawasee high school; and Roxann. a student in the Milford school.
