PTO Observes American Education Week Members of the PTO observed American education week November 19 in the Leesburg school and gym. Open house was held at which time parents could visit the classrooms and see the work displayed by the students. They could observe the work done in the special classes in reading and speech and hearing. They also could visit the art rooms, the kitchen, lunch rooms, sick room, library and office. Uses of the audio-visual equipment was shown by the older students. Demonstration Lee Tusing, president, introduced Mr. Carter, who is physical education instructor. A group of his students gave a demonstration of the things they had been doing, of the games played and the benefits from them and from the exercises. At the close of the meeting cookies, coffee and milk were served. LEGION AUXILIARY MEETS AT HARTMAN HOME TUESDAY Mrs. Raymond Hartman assisted by Mrs. Hugh McCann were hostesses Tuesday night to 13 members of the American Legion Auxiliary at the Hartman home. Mrs. Thelma McCorkle gave a report on the district meeting. Games were played and refreshments were served. The next meeting will be a Christmas potluck supper and gift exchange December 16 at the home of Mrs. Chris Kammerer. CUB SCOUTS MEET MONDAY AT UNITED METHODIST CHURCH The cub scouts had their monthly pack meeting at the United Methodist church Monday night, Nov. 24. There were 10 boys who received their bob cat pins. Two skits were presented about pilgrims and Indians. Den 2 presented the skit on the frontier. The next meeting will be December 22 in the United Methodist church. The Webelos had a display of Geology Scoreboard. Robert Goff is leader of the pack. Literary And Reading Clubs Have Thanksgiving Dinner Monday Night The Literary and Reading clubs had their annual Thanksgiving dinner Monday night at a restaurant in Mentone. There were 26 members who enjoyed the smorgasbord dinner. The tables were decorated with paper turkeys, fall leaves and on the speakers table an owl. Mrs. Louis Nichols of Warsaw gave a talk on “Personal Charm.”

LESSON ON CHEESE GIVEN AT TIPPY LEE CLUB MEETING Mrs. Raymond Custer and Mrs. Paul Cormany presented the lesson on cheese at a meeting of the Tippy Lee club held at the home of Mrs. Max Shively. Mrs. Raymond Custer was the cohostess. Seventeen members answered roll call by giving a list of what would they would like for Christmas from which their secret pals could select a gift for them Mrs. Raymond Hartman gave the health and safety remarks concerning Christmas lights etc. Mrs. Hal Strong read poems pertaining to Thanksgiving for the meditations. The song of the month “Over the River and Through the Woods” was also given by Mrs. Strong. Mrs. Robert Allen gave a report on the Christmas bazaar apd workshop held at the women’s building. The door prize was won by Mrs. Richard Allen. Refreshments were served by the hostesses. A salad bar and Christmas meeting will be held December 16 in the home of Mrs. Charles Dye. Calvary Baptist Church Cadet Rollie Robison Home Over Week Find Cadet Rollie Robison of the air force academy and Mrs. Mildred Townshead of Rochester were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Robison. Mr. and Mrs. James McCleary and family of Winona Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Robison attended the Notre Dame-Air Force football game Saturday at Notre Dame. In the evening they attended a chorale at South Bend given by the air force. Cadet Robison is a member of this group. On Sunday the group sang at two Elkhart churches with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Robison, Mrs. Mildred Townshead and Mrs. Chloe Robison attending. SN Richard Cretcher Home On Leave SN Richard Cretcher arrived home on Friday night for a 30 day leave. He and his mother, Mrs. Doris Cretcher, will spend Thanksgiving in Indianapolis with Mr. and Mrs. John Craig and family. At the end of his leave December 21 SN Cretcher will return to Lemoore naval air station in California. Thanksgiving Service Tuesday At Oswego A Tnanksgiving service was combined Tuesday night with prayer meeting at the Oswego Calvary Baptist church. Mrs. Doug Hoffert, Robert Teeple and Charles Hunter spoke on Thanksgiving. —I—ENTERTAINS AT BIRTHDAY PARTY Mr. and Mrs. Martin Stookey entertained Sunday night at a birthday party in honor of the 15th birthday of their son, Randy.

Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Roberts of near Pierceton, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Lehman and daughters of Milford, Mr. and Mrs. George Lehman, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Roberts and Stacie and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Stookey Jr. and Laurie. EIGHT SQUARE CLUB MEETS AT STOOKEY HOME Mrs. Martin Stookey was hostess Tuesday night to 19 members of the Eight Square club with Mrs. Noel Rhinehart assisting. Mrs. John Buhrt read an article on Harvest for the meditations. Getting Roses ready for winter was the subject of the garden hints given by Mrs. Roy Hizer. The lesson on household repairs was presented by Mrs. Ruth Knepper. Mrs. Melvin Gunter gave the history of “Over the River and Through the Woods” and all joined in singing the song. Each member brought a mental health gift. Refreshments were served by the hostesses. COMMUNITY NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Tom Buskirk, Sr., of Tippecanoe Lake will return home Friday after spending a month in Hollywood, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Davis and Stephannie will spend Thanksgiving in Marion as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Markwell. Mrs. K. P. Doane of New York city will arrive Wednesday to spend the Thanksgiving holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Brubaker. On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brubaker and family of Winnetka, 111., and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sharp and family of Glen Elleyn, 111., will be guests of the Brubakers. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Buskirk, Jr., will be Thanksgiving Day dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Richey. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Timmons attended a Thanksgiving and birthday dinner Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Marvel. It was the birthday of Everett Marvel. Fall communion was observed Sunday evening at the Leesburg Brethren church. Mrs. Carl Weirick is a patient at the Goshen hospital following a heart attack. Mrs. Anna Bishop who has been a patient at the Goshen hospital was dismissed Monday to Millers Merry Manor. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Adams of Akron spent Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Everett Tom. The Toms visited Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Dewart of Milford Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Dewart has her leg in a cast. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Shively of Elkhart and Mrs. Iva Etter had dinner in a North Webster restaurant Sunday and visited Taylor Shively at Millers Merry Manor in the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Boss of Albion and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Boss of Centreville, .Mich., recently visited Mrs. Emma Hollar and Miss Faye Hollar. Mrs. Anna Hartman will spend Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hunter. * < - X JT* TO SPEAK AT BETHANY— Rev. and Mrs. John Miller, missionaries in the remote village of Baborigame, Chihuahua, Mexico, will be at the Bethany Church of the Brethren near New Paris on Sunday evening, Nov. 30. Rev. Miller will give an illustrated talk. Rev. Miller serves the Spanish speaking Indians and Mexicans of this remote Mexican village to which access is only by mule or plane. In the last five years of his ministry, Rev. Miller has constructed a large clinic to which doctors and dentists fly in to treat the people. He is the son of Rev. Theodore Miller who pastured the Bethel Church of the Brethren of Milford for a number of years. Kosciusko Boy Scouts Hold Fall Camporee On Tippecanoe River

The boy scouts of Kosciusko county held their fall camporee the 15th and 16th of November at the Richard Allen farm on the Tippecanoe river west of Oswego. A total of 67 scouts were in . attendance, despite the cold weather. They represented troops 30 and 119 of Warsaw, 28 of Syracuse, 17 of Oswego, 48 of Barbee Lake and 59 of Atwood. Cromwell Man Found Dead In Garage Richard D. Moser, 56, of the Enchanted Hills Trailer Court, r 1 Cromwell, was found dead in his garage at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Death was apparently caused by a heart attack. The man was found by his wife when she returned home from work. County coroner Dr. Arthur Moser said death occurred between 9 and 10 a.m. Friday. He was lying across the seat of the car and deputy sheriff Ron Robinson said the man had apparently been working on the car. Mr. Moser was employed as a janitor at Wawasee high school. Funeral services were held at Geneva. SYRACUSE LOOKING-UP CLASS HAS CARRY-IN SUPPER A carry-in supper was held by the Looking-Up class of the Syracuse Church of the Brethren. DEER SHOT — Hallie Holloway, Syracuse, shot a seven-point, 175 pound buck deer on November a, the first day of Indiana deer season. He shot the deer in Elkhart county. WOMAN BECOMES ILL AT JAIL Anita Villalovos, 45, Milford, complained of fainting spells and a possible heart attack Monday while housed at the county jail and was taken to the Murphy Medical Center. She was treated at the hospital and returned to jail on Monday. She paid her fine for public intoxication on Tuesday morning and was released. Dissent seen in capital on Viet Nam policy.
