Carroll Is 57-53 Winner Over Wawasee Friday

In a nip and tuck battle at Wawasee’s new gym Friday night Carroll’s Chargers came away the victor 57-53. Carroll led at the end of the first quarter 1413 but Wawasee held the lead 2523 at half-time and 36-34 at the end of the third stanza. During the hard fought battle Carroll connected on 37 per cent

Using a balanced five-man attack Carroll managed to hold Wawasee’s Steve Zurcher to 12 points for the evening. The Charger’s top man for the evening was Steve Heedman who hit for 16. Jim Kruse scored 12 for the visitors and Joe Trahin added 11. Dave Elliott and Russ Mikel led Wawasee’s attack with 14 each followed by Zurcher. MARY LOU LAMBERT BOWLS 666 SERIES Mary Lou Lambert of Syracuse rolled a 666 series Tuesday during league bowling of the Tuesday Afternoon Ladies at Wawasee Bowl. She had games of 232, 213 and 221. Milford Trojans Has Three Victories In Young Season

Though the season is still young, the Milford Trojans have three victories to their credit. The eighth grade basketball team got off on a winning note November 18 by defeating Wakarusa by a score of 33-31 in an 0vertime game at Wakarusa. Milford trailed by one point with less than 20 seconds to go when Danny Yoder stepped to the free throw line to tie the score at 31 apiece to set the stage for the overtime victory. With nine seconds remaining in the game, Larry Kaiser cashed in on a driving lay up to give Milford the victory. - Kaiser led the scoring for Milford with 14 points. Lyle Slabaugh was the leading rebounder with 22. Over Larwill The Milford five won their second game of the season on November 20 by defeating Larwill by the score of 51 to 30 on the Milford hardwood. Over Central Noble The eighth grade team extended its undefeated record to three wins Monday night by slipping past Central Noble by a score of 58 to 52 in a game played in Milford. Larry Kaiser was the leading scorer for the Trojans as he pour•ed through 28 points to lead his team to victory. Fourteen of Kaiser’s points came in the fourth quarter. Mike Wollman led the Trojans in rebounds with eight. Next week Milford plays host to Sidney at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, then will travel to Syracuse on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 6 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Cable Lane, Kale Island, Lake Wawasee, spent Tuesday at Chicago.
