'Drugs, A School And Community Problem' At Goshen College Sept. 25
“Drugs, A School and Community Problem”, will be the subject of this year’s School Health Conference to be held Thursday, Sept. 25th, at Goshen college. The program is sponsored by the State Board of Health, State Department of Public Instruction, State Medical Association and the public schools in Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaGrange and St. Joseph county in addition to the college. The program, consisting of a panel, will be held in the churchchapel building at the college. Dr. Glenn Knotts, executive director of the American School Health Association, will discuss commonly misused drugs, Dr. Hester Beth Bland of the Indiana State Board of Health, will present material concerning teaching about drugs; William Kuros-ky-chief psychiatric social worker of the Five County Mental Health Clinic will present the Concerns of Drugs as a Community Problem and Charles W. Macenski, director of advertising evaluation, American Medical Association, Chicago, will present new materials in films and film strips that concern the drug problem.

The conference will conclude with a dinner in the college dining room and an address by Judge Stanley A. Raymer of Superior Court No. 2, Elkhart- “ The Court and the Drug Offender”. The program was planned by area school people and representatives of the Elkhart County Medical Association-Dr. John Miller, Gashen: William Crosier, vice-principal director of guidance, Warsaw Community Schools; Mrs. Audrey Russell, director pupil and personnel - Elkhart Community Schools; Dr. Roman Gingerich - professor health physical education and recreation. Goshen college and Lewis S. Immel, now principal of Milford Elementary school, Lakeland Community schools, is this year’s chairman. The general public is invited to this program.
