First PTA Meeting Set For Sept. 18 At Syracuse Principal William Dorsey of the Syracuse junior high school reminds patrons of the elementary and junior high schools in that city that the first ParentTeachers Association meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, in the junior high school auditorium. Sgt. Jack of the Indiana State polite will present the evening’s program on Drugs and Narcotics. The staff of the elementary and junior high schools •will be presented. Syracuse Youth Off To College The following Syracuse men and women have recently left ' for college and universities to further their education: Jean Eppley, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Paul Eppley of r 4 Syracuse and Huntington has enrolled in Indiana Central college at Indianapolis. Cinda Kay Luttman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Luttman, r 4 Syracuse, will attend International Business college at Fort Wayne as a freshman. William J. Pipp, son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Pipp. Syracuse, has enrolled in Indiana university as a freshman. He is a 1969 graduate of Wawasee high school. Sandra Lou Yeager, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Yeager, Syracuse, is enrolled in Indiana university as a freshman. She is a 1969 graduate of Wawasee high school. Her brother Tim has returned to I. U. as a junior. Richard Dean Clingaman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Clingaman, r 1 Syracuse, will enter Career academy at Columbus, Ohio, on October 13. He is a 1969 graduate of Wawasee high school. Rebecca Jane Eyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Eyer, Syracuse. has enrolled in Purdue university as a freshman. Mary Ellen Coleman, daughter of Mrs. Walter R. Coleman, r 4 Syracuse, enrolled in Goshen college as a freshman °on Monday. Charles Kenneth Coburn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Coburn, Syracuse, a 1969 graduate of Wawasee high school, enrolled in Grace college last week. Robert Carlson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Carlson, Syracuse, has enrolled in Ball State university as a junior. Nancy Johnson, is a student in Indiana State university where she is enrolled as a junior. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson of r 1. Curt Stucky, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Stucky, Syracuse, has enrolled as a freshman at De Pauw university, Greencastle. Stephen Strickler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Strickler of Syracuse, is enrolled at Purdue university. Miss Marta Juday, daughter "of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Juday, r 3 Syracuse, is a student at Indiana university. Her sister Karen Juday is enrolled at Indiana State university, Terre Haute. PHIMARY MOTHERS HOLD FIRST MEETING The Primary Mothers club of Syracuse held its first meeting of the year Monday in the home of Mrs. Gary Webb. A pot luck dinner was enjoyed by 12 members and seven guests the guests were: . Mrs. Slaybaugh, Mrs. Donald Grawcock, Mrs. Clifford Nicodemus, Mrs. Alice Karesh, Mrs. Sandy Brandon, Mrs. Lester Stewart, and Mrs. Gnelle Rensberger. Games were played following the meal. Mrs. Roger Fetters is president of the group.

There will be a dance Saturday, Sept. 13, from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. and also Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 6:30 to 9:30 is registration night. Starting October 1, to use the youth center you must be a member. Ask about the family rates. New shuffel boards are currently being installed at the center. MT. TABOR PLANS HOMECOMING Mount Tabor church, six miles south of Nappanee, will have its annual homecoming services this Sunday morning and evening at the church. It will all begin with a big church school rally at 9:30 a.m. There will be special music provided by the children’s choir for the Sunday school, hour and other children being a part of the program. Classes will be held for all ages and each class is expecting to have over 100 per cent in attendance. During the morning worship hour at 10:30 a.m. the guest speaker, Pastor Lloyd Harlan, will bring the message. Pastor Harlan is a native of the Mt. Tabor church, being very active as a young man in the program of the Mt. Tabor chufch. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Harlan, are two of the oldest in the membership at the Mt. Tabor church. Pastor Harlan is a graduate of Findlay college and Winebrenner Theological Seminary in Findlay, Ohio. He has served in several pastorates here in Indiana. He is very active in the . Youth Camp program of the Churches of God. During the noon hour the members and friends of the church will have a special fellowship dinner at the church’s fellowship hall. The evening service will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the church with* a big musical program. Many persons of the church will be taking part in the program by providing various musical numbers. There will be vocal and instrumental numbers. It will be a time of inspiration and blessing for all at Mt. Tabor church this Sunday.

List Swimming Pool Schedule At Wawasee Donn D. Kesler, vice principal of Wawasee high school ms released the following schedule for the swimming pool at Wawasee high school. Monday and Thursday — Open swimming from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday— School groups and community organizations may reserve the pool'for one-hour blocks. Friday — Community groups may reserve the pool if no home athletic activity is scheduled. Saturday — Family night from 7 to 9:30 p.m. No person under 18 will be allowed in without parents. Anyone wanting more information or wanting to make reservations should call Mr. Kesler at the high school. Moore of r 1 Leesburg, is among the thousands of personnel from Keesler AFB, Miss., who have joined the massive effort to help nearby communities recover from the devastation of Hurricane Camille. Airman Moore and others from the Air Training Command base located at Biloxi are aiding Civil Defense teams and city crews in the distribution of food, clearing debris, and directing traffic. Heavy equipment is assigned throughout the Biloxi area to help clear wreckage. Medical teams from the base are augmenting

Francis Shipley Receives Meritorious Service Award WARNER ROBINS, Ga. - U. S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Francis M. Shipley, son of Mrs. E. E. Shipley of 225 Fort Wayne Ave., Warsaw, is one of the first recipients of the nation’s newest noncombatant military award for
outstanding service to the United States, the Meritorious Service Medal. Colonel Shipley, assigned at Robins AFB, Ga., was cited for his performance as chief of a special project in which he played a vital role in the establishment ’ of a new weapon systems program. The new bronze medal,, authorized by former President Johnson early in January, honors those who distinguish them selves through outstanding achievement or service. The award ranks between the Legion of Merit and the Commendation Medal and is equivalent to the Bronze Star Medal for combat. The colonel, a maintenance staff officer, was commissioned through the aviation cadet program. He has served in Viet Nam. Colonel Shipley is a graduate of Warsaw high school. His wife is the former Elizabeth Williamson. SP/4 Robert Penick Reassigned To Ft. Hood, Texas SP/4 Robert Penick returned September 2 to Fort Hood, Tex., for restricted duty until December 28 when he returns to the hospital for re-evaluation. Mrs. Jim Brooks and daughter Kelly, Milford, were Sunday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Russ McDonald and son Mark of Goshen. ' Mr. and Mrs. Kendall Biller of Milford accompanied their son Kent to Indianapolis on Friday where he is enrblled as a freshman at Indiana Central college. David Fox, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fox of Milford, returned to Indiana Central college Sunday. David will be a sophomore. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Schoon of Lafayette were Sunday visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Ruch of Milford. Mrs. Schoon is a niece of Mrs. Ruch. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Biller of near Milford spent the week end 'in Gary with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Biller. George Carauso of Elkhart was the special speaker at the Island Chapel United Methodist church on Sunday.

Miss Juday, a graduate of Syracuse high school, is a student at Indiana State university at Terre Haute, majoring in speech and hearing.
