REMEMBER... WHEN IT HAPPENED IN SYRACUSE ONE YEAR AGO Mrs. Frances Eby, RN, Syracuse, has accepted the position of school nurse with the Lakeland Community School Corporation. J. C. Morganthaler, 64, of Syracuse, died in the Goshen hospital September 2. He is survived by a son, one daughter, and six grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Terry McClintic and children moved last week from Syracuse to Lafayette. Harold Parker was treated in the emergency room of Murphy Medical Center over the week end and released. The Maxweltcn Golf club, owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Tom Merritt for the past 21 years, has been sold to the Smith-Wal-bridge camp owners. FIVE YEARS AGO An estimated $2,000 in merchandise was stolen from Tom Socks Sportswear in Wawasee Village between midnight Sunday and dawn on Labor Day. Mr. and Mrs. Eldred Mabie and Miss Sally entertained at a family dinner Sunday evening in their home for the birthdays of several members of the family. Marvey G. Mygrant, 87, Oakwood Park, died Friday in the Goshen hospital. He is survived by his wife and two sisters. Mrs. Jean Rogers and daughter and Mrs. Donna Hostetler and children attended the state fair at Indianapolis on Wednesday and Thursday of last week. Miss Karlette Briggs of Plymouth and James Douglas Felts of here were married August 17 at Plymouth. TEN YEARS AGO Nancy Scheldt and Susie Morganthaler of the Hoosier Ski club at Lake Wawasee were among the midwest skiers to qualify for the national water ski meet to be held in New Hampshire. Ike’s Dairy Bar was sold last week to the Syracuse Processing plant, a branch of the Goshen Packisg company. Mr. and Mrs. James Butt entertained at a family dinner Sunday for Otis Clyde Butt, who was celebrating his birthday. Clark Willard of r 1 was treated in the emergency room of the Goshen hospital Tuesday and released. Martin McClintic, 70, died in his home here Tuesday evening. PYTHIAN CLUB MEETS AT BROWN COTTAGE The Syracuse Pythian club met in the Lake Wawasee cottage of Mrs. Mary Brown last Thursday for a pot luck dinner and meeting. There were nine members and four guests, Mrs. Lloyd Kammerdiener and three children present. Mrs. Ethel Grubb won the door prize. Miss Mary Jo Woods of Indianapolis is a guest this week of her aunt, Mrs. W. C. Gants. FORTY-FIVE YEARS AGO Dr. and Mrs. G. R. Landis and daughter Betty of Chicago are visiting Dr. Landis’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. V. Landis. A son was born September 1 to Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bertram. Miss Gertrude Hock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. L Hock, left Thursday for Indianapolis where she will continue her studies at Madame Blaker’s Kindergarten school. Miss Joy Deardoiff went to Mishawaka on Tuesday where she will teach in the grade school. Mrs. Nelson Miles left Tuesday for Columbia City where she will again teach in the public schools.
