The group sang “Blest Be the Tie That Binds’’ for closing. —NW—LITTLE LEAGUES SEE BALL GAME The Little League and Pony league boys went to Chicago to see the Cubs play the Atlanta Braves Tuesday. About 115 boys took sack lunches and boarded the two busses to go with coaches to see these games. They stopped on their way home for supper after an exciting day. —NW—CHILD FRIGHTENS MOTHER Mrs. William (Bill) Martindale had quite a scare on Wed-

nesday evening when she saw her 21 month old daughter, Michelle, choking on a penny. She took the child by the heels and ran to the neighbors to call the emergency unit. She couldn’t put the girl down to use the phone. The emergency was prompt in arriving there and administered oxygen. They advised the parents to take her to the hospital for an X-ray. She was entered at Goshen hospital and released that evening. —NW—COMMUNITY NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Burrell Mathias of Larwill were supper guests on Saturday of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Mitchell. Va., were visiting Rev. and Mrs. Lewis Thomas several days.last week. Trudy Stabler was discharged last week from Goshen hospital. Mrs. Harry Baugher was a patient in Whitley hospital on Monday. Rev. Carl Adams was guest speaker at the United Methodist church Sunday while Rev. Weeks and family vacationed. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Bowser and children attended the art show at Nappanee Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Deverl Bowser visited Amishville at Berne Sunday. Carl and Louise Bowser accompanied them. Mr. and Mrs. Bus Likens were at the motorcycle races at Lincolnville on Sunday. They took grandsons, Terry and Jim Likens, and Mark Bowser along. . Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bransford visited their son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bransford, and Jeff at Buchanan, Mich., Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Overmyer were in Madison, Wis., three days this past week. Mr. Overmyer attended a school on air-pollution at the university. Epworth forest Choir School To Close Aug. 24 The premier performance of a new cantata will climax the fifteenth Epworth Forest choir school, Sunday afternoon, Aug. 24, at 3 p.m. at Epworth Forest campgrounds near North Webster. The annual “Show Boat” concert in the Epworth Forest Amphitheatre at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, will have the theme “August Fair.” “The Beatitude of John” is the title of the cantata, written for the choir school by Lloyd Pfautsch, well known composer of sacred music from Southern Methodist university, Dallas, Tex. The mixed choir will present this cantata as the major feature of the Sunday afternoon sacred concert, which will include shorter

selections sung by this choir and by the women’s choir. The Saturday night “Show Boat” concert will include popular numbers done in colorful costumes by choirs, soloists, ensemble groups and orchestra. The chorus will arrive at the amphitheatre aboard the “Dixie,” Lake Webster’s paddle wheel boat. Rev. August Lundquist of Syracuse will sene again this year as the popular MC of "Show Boat.” The choirs will also have a major part in the 10:30 Sunday morning worship service at Epworth Forest Auditorium. Speaker .for this service will. be Dr. Orrin Manifold, minister of College Avenue United Methodist church, Muncie, who is chaplain for Varner Chance, founder and director ot the choir school, is currently director of fine arts in Wawasee high school. John Unger, Port Huron, Mich, music teacher, will serve as assistant conductor and director of the women’s choir, and Professor Vernon Stinebaugh of Manchester college will direct the orchestra. Mrs. Gerald Mast of Elkhart is organist. The week-long school involves concentrated rehersals and study for 216 choir directors, choir members and selected youth. Faculty members this year will include Dr. Thomas Richardson, Varner Chance, North Webster; Dr. Ruth Yates, Illinois. State university; Professor James H. King, Anderson college; and Miss Lynn Walker and Miss Nancy Webb, students at Illinois Wesleyan university. Sectional leaders will be Leigh Ann Hudson, voice major at DePauw university: Eva Wetz, Montana State college; Barbara DeNoon, voice teacher of Windfall, and Professor King. Evening programs at 7:30 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of the week of August 18 are also open to the public. Anna Hill And Richard Clay Wed In Pierceton Mrs. Anna Hill of Syracuse and Richard Clay of Warsaw were united in marriage at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Pierceton Baptist church. Rev. Walter Rogers, pastor of the church, officiated at the double ring ceremony in the presence of 25 guests. Parents of the couple are Harvey Henwood of r 3 Syracuse and Lawrence Clay of Warsaw.
