Brethren To Hold 110th Conference The 110th recorded Church of the Brethren Northern Indiana District Conference will be held August 8-10 at Camp Mack near Milford. Over 800 people will come together from 50 congregations representing the 10,000 members of the district. About 250 official delegates will transact the business of the conference. Delegates in attendance from this community will be Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hapner, Leonard Barnhart and pastor Ralph Wagoner from the Syracuse Church of the Brethren. A program of general interest to the public is a drama, “No Snakes in This Grass” to be given by the Goshen College Players on Saturday, beginning at 7 p.m. in the large auditorium. This is also youth night and following the drama a panel of youth chaired by Negro pastor Thomas Wilson of Chicago will react to the drama. The public is cordially invited also to the 10:30 a.m. worship on Sunday when Dr. John F. Knight of the Indiana Baptist Convention will deliver the sermon entitled “The Church in Today’s World” and to the closing session at 2 p.m. Sunday when pastor Thomas Wilson will bring a message titled “What the World Needs Now”.

Moderator of the conference will be pastor William Kidwell of the Nappanee church. He will be assisted by pastor John McCormick of the Pine Creek church near Lakeville. Grant Steele of North Liberty will be conference director and Donald Rettinger of Bourbon will serve as head usher. Items of business to be discussed Saturday include church campchurch growth and renewal together with more routine matters such as election of officers and adopting a budget. HEX GRANGE IN REGULAR MEETING Hex Grange met for its regular meeting in the Hex Grange hall. The program included a piano solo by Beth Savage, a vocal solo by Linda Bushong, reading on topics of giving thanks, the future of land in the year 2,000 and safety, riddles and jokes. The grange picnic will be held September 7 at the Merle Darr cottage. Members are requested to make reservations with the refreshment committee if they are planning to attend the chicken barbecue at the next meeting. There were 11 officers among those present at the meeting. The officers were in charge of the meeting. OLD CRABS King crabs link the Atomic Age with the primeval world. They are among the oldest dwellers in the sea, living on after some of their early contemporaries have become fossils.
