Cecil Foods Installs New Equipment Don Cecil, Cecil Foods, Inc., has announced the installment of two mechanical tomato peeling units. These units which include a new type high pressure washing conveyor have just been perfected after several years in the development stage. Complete installation of the new equipment was made by Don Hoover and his assistant. Arnold (Pete) Doll. Also, they have completed work oh a rotary type can filling line, which will be used in addition to the existing lines. More Employees Needed Contrary to one’s first impression, the equipment will require more employees due to the increased volume expected. The peeling units will remove all of the skin from the tomatoes, however, it will still be necessary to remove the core from each tomato. A new patented tool has been secured that will be used to do the coring, making it unnecessary to use knives as in the past. This unique system should result in higher wages for more proficient workers and also allow less capable workers to easily make more than the minimum wage on a piece work basis. The history of the local growers and canners of high quality tomatoes and tomato products is a story of constant growth, expansion and automation. This latest innovation is but another of their efforts to constantly update their modern facilities. Mr. Cecil also stated that the tomato crop is progressing very favorably and the plant shctild start operations about August 15. ‘Love’ Is Christian Science Sunday Sermon “Love” is the subject of the Lesson - Sermon to be heard this Sunday in all Christian - Science churches. Included in the sermon is the statement: “And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.” A correlative passage from the denominational textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, comments: “To love one’s neighbor as one’s self, is a divine idea; but this idea can never be seen, felt, nor understood through the physical senses.” Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Haney of * the Milford area called on Mr. and Mrs. Harold Swartzlander of Elkhart Sunday, July 20. The Swartzlanders are former area residents. TOO LATE TO CLASSIFY USED SHOWCASE wanted, glass full view. Ph. 834-2906. THREE GOOD used refrigerators. GAMBLE’S in Syracuse.
