Seek Holiday Inn For Waco Site On Wawasee Letters are pouring in this week to Lake Wawasee realtor Joe Todd expressing a need for a year around hotel - motel and convention center on Lake Wa- * wasee. The letters are a result of a request by Todd and other Syracuse - Wawasee chamber of commerce members interested in securing such a facility for the lake region. Todd told the group, in a meeting last Thursday noon, that he has been in contact with Indianapolis interests who would consider 'a Holiday Inn here, and they have expressed a preference for the Waco site. The letters Todd is receiving are coming from industries in an area as far away as Fort Wayne and South Bend. Todd stated the Indianapolis interests recognize the need for a center in the summer time, but they are unsure of its need in the winter. „ Todd is to meet with these people on Thursday of this week, and has asked that all such letters be in his hands by that time. Other Inquiries Chamber secretary Bill Beemer told the group he had received and answered an inquiry from the Industrial Development Division of the state department of commerce concerning a firm that wanted a site in north - central Indiana including a building of from 30,000 to 50,000 square feet. Beemer told the group he would have a much stronger talking point in answering such letters if he could cite a motelhotel facility to them. The chamber again announced its fireworks, to be held this year on Lake Wawasee on Thursday evening, July .3, at dusk. Two locations will be used, the so-called sand bar and the second ata point between the Waco site, and Oakwood Hotel. Member Nelson Auer told the , group he continues to hear complaints that the fireworks have been taken from the Syracuse city park to Lake 25 Wawasee. President Jay Peffley said he received a letter from member Bill Brammer, requesting his name be taken from the rolls. He said he (Brammer) felt annexation, which is being pushed by the Syracuse - Wawasee chamber of commerce, is not in his best interest. Joe Todd was voted on the chamber board of directors in Brammer’s place. VISITING RELATIVES Chief and Mrs. Dan Felts and three children have arrived in Syracuse from Argentia, Newfoundland, where he was stationed with the US navy. Chief Felts will leave in three weeks for new duty in Norfolk, Va. Mrs. Felts and children will remain in Syracuse for the summer visiting her mother, Mrs. Edith Miller, and other relatives and friends.
