OBITUARIES
Glenn L Peeler Dead At 58 Glenn L. Deeter, 58, Leesburg, well known Kosciusko county native, died Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the Goshen hospital following a heart attack. He had been in failing health for two months. Mr. Deeter was born at Syracuse November 23, 1910, to Curtis and Alma (Rentfrow) Deeter. He was a 1928 graduate of Milford high school. On October 20, 1934, he was married to Zona Stackhouse. He was an electrical con- ■ tractor by vocation. The deceased was a member of the New Salem Church of the Brethren and the Leesburg Lions club. Surviving are the wife; a daughMrs. Thomas (Jeanne) Sands of Munster; a son, Jerry, of Syracuse; and five grandchildren. Friends may call at the Me Hatton funeral home in Warsaw after 2 p.m. today. Services will be held there at 2 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Michael Ostrander of the New Salem church officiating. Burial will be in the Leesburg cemetery. Swimming Safety Never go beyond your limitations when swimming. Each year there are hundreds of accidental drownings caused by the failure to observe a few basic safety rules. Avoid swimming in unsupervised or- unknown waters. Don’t swim in cold water or immediately after eating. By doing so, you run the risk of fatigue or cramps. Never engage in horseplay in the water, such as dunkings, false cries for help, etc. '.

MILFORD LOCALS Mr. and Mrs. Russell Ruch and family of Milford, recently spent a week end with Mr. and Mrs. Dale Stump, Milford residents, at their trailer in Jones, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. Emery Drake and son, Monte, of Orlando, Fla., visited with his mother, Mrs. Emma Drake, and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Knepper of Milford. Mr. and Mrs. Drake and son arrived on June 24 and enjoyed a stay of one week before returning home. Brenda, Shelley/and Jeri Graff, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Graff of Fort Wayne, spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Roger Graff and family of Milford. Sunday morning and afternoon visitors in the home of Mrs. Lulu Felkner and Chester Felkner of r 2 Milford were Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Burns of Rome City and Mr. and Mrs. John Burns of near Cromwell. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vanlaningham and sons, Edward, Norman and Rodney, of r 2 Milford spent Saturday and Sunday camping at Scenic Hills near Bristol. Sunday callers in the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Auer, Sr., of r 2 Milford were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wolferman and Mr. and Mrs. Marshal Estep, all of r 2 Milford, and Mr. and Mrs. George Auer, Jr., and son Joe of Syracuse. Mrs. Stanley Scott was a forenoon caller.
Miss Norma Knee of Xenia, Ohio, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Kr.ee of Chapman Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Wuthrich, Becky and Andy of Milford for a few days. Members of the Bethel Women’s Fellowship of Milford served dinner for the Borkholder family prior to funeral services for Jerry Borkholder on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Don Fox of Milford have received word that their son David, who was a freshman at Indiana Central college at Indianapolis, was among the students named to the annual honor roll. Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Wuthrich, Becky and Andy of near Milford attended the recent family reunion held at the Chapman conservation building. There were 66 in attendance, coming from Ohio, Michigan, Montana and Indiana. Miss Joan Felkner and Miss Sandy Stamper, both of Milford, have returned from a five-day vacation spent at Big Bear Lake, Mich. While there they enjoyed visiting Hartwick Pines State Park. Mr. and Mrs. Don Fox and son David of Milford and their son-in-law® and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Burl Faurote, Jr., and children, Elaine, Valerie and Steven of Warsaw, enjoyed dinner at a Silver Lake restaurant on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ankney and sons of Eldridge, lowa, spent the week end with Mrs. Ankney’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Good’ of Milford. Invention of the row-crop tractor in 1925 opened the way to new efficiency in cotton production.
■ TELLING IT LIKE IT IS — First Lieutenant Pat Money, who returned home from Viet Nam Friday evening, turned up for the Mermaid Festival parade at North Webster on Saturday afternoon and found time to chat with a Syracuse friend Tom McClintic. On the left is Pat’s father, conservation officer Earl Money. Pat returned to the United States early last week, accompanying the body of a buddy who was killed when a rocket propelled grenade hit his unit. The friend was Kenneth Kreutz of Ferguson, Missouri, and Pat remained for the final rites before coming on to Syracuse. In the June 9th strike that killed Kreutz, young Money suffered fragment wounds and a bullet wound, but was not perently injured. He will leave on Tuesday, July 8, to return to his unit in Viet Nam. Construction Underway At New Community Building
Construction of the new Pierceton Community Building on south First street is now underway, it was announced this week by Jack, Phil and Charles Lowe, directors of the Lowe Foundation, which is donating the center to the town of Pierceton. The modified contemporary building designed by HumbrechtSherbondy, Fort Wayne, architects, will contain complete facilities for the volunteer fire de-
partment, six truck stalls with work area, lounge with kitchen, bath and captain’s office. Meeting room for 150 people with kitchen is provided, along with trustee, police and justice of the peace offices. The building is all brick with decorative pre-cast concrete overhangs. With the awarding of coritracts on the building, the Lowe Foundation was pleased that the cost was considerably under the architect’s estimate. * a **?v SH*** ‘ «_ PLAN RED CROSS VISIT — Plans for the first visit of the Red Cross bloodmobile unit to Kosciusko county in the new fiscal year starting July 1 were firmed this week. The unit will be in operation between the hours of 12 to 6 on July 11 at the commons of the new Wawasee high school. The quota for the visits this year is 141 pints. Pictured from left are Charles F. SYRACUSE LOCALS Mr. and Mrs. Roger LeCount of Warsaw were callers Sunday afternoon in the Emory Guy home at Syracuse. Stewart LeCount, who had been visiting in the Guy home, returned home with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Pletcher, Syracuse, were Sunday dinner guests in the home of Miss Frieda and Miss Martha Martin at Goshen. Miss Christine and Miss Patricia LeCount of Warsaw are spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Emory Guy at Syracuse. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Kline of Wheaton, 111., are attending the national teachers convention at Philadelphia this week. Their son, Jeff, is staying at Syracuse with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kline and Mrs. Jessie Weingart. / Heather and Jason Nicolai of Augusta, Ga., are spending several Weeks in the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nicolai at Syracuse. Their parents, Major and Mrs. Larry Nicolai, will come to visit the middle of July and the children will return home with them. , Mrs. Agnes Stiffler has returned to her home at Syracuse after a trip to Scotland, where she visited relatives. ACCEPTED AS VOCALIST Miss Jane Fricke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Waldemar Fricke of South Whitley and a senior student at Indiana university, has been accepted as vocalist for the Pepper Tanner Sound Studio in Memphis, Tenn. The company sells commercials to over 39,000 radio stations. She is a member of the 1966 graduating class of South Whitley high school and the grandaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Garth Kyler of r 2 South Whitley and the niece of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Leifer of r 2 North Manchester.

Miss Lu Ann Mock of Syracuse became the bride of Michael Dean Brower of North Webster cn Saturday, June 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Calvary United Methodist church south of Syracuse. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Rylana Mock of Syracuse and Mr. ana Mrs. Charles Brower of North Webster. Rev. K. E. Robinson, pastor of the church, officiated at the double ring ceremony in the presence of 180 guests. The altar was decorated with yellow pyramiding gladioli. < Mrs. Jacob Tusing, Jr., organist, played Ave Maria, Lacas Theme, and Blessed Be The Tie That Binds. Peaa de Soie Gown Given in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a gown of white peau de soie featuring an empire waistline and straight skirt. The long sleeves and scoop neck were bordered with lace and lace appliques on the front of the. gown were accented with sequins and pearls. The attached train was accented by a self fabric bow and tiny buttons that closed the dress. The train was also bordered with lace. Her headpiece was a crown of sequins set on heavy lace from which fell an elbow length veil. She carried yellow cascading roses; Miss Cindy Felts of Syracuse was maid of honor and wore a gown of yellow featuring an empire waist and A-line skirt with a self fabric belt at the waist, long sheer sleeves and a high neckline with a ruffle going to the waist in front. Her headpiece matched her gown and she carried white cascading carnations ... with ivy. Miss Susie Brower of North Webster, bridesmaid, wore a gown identical to that of the maid of honor, same headpiece and bouquet. Randy Lindzy of North Webster was best man. Groomsman was Dan Strombeck of North Vfebster. Phil Mock of Syracuse and Rex Barber of North Webster were the ushers. Mrs. Brower -chose a blue knit dress with white accessories for the ceremony. Mrs. Mock’s dress was peach color with peach accessories. Both wore corsages of yellow carnations. Reception o A reception was held in the church parlor following the ceremony. SENIOR CITIZENS DISCUSS FAIR PLANS The Turkey Creek Senior Citizens met for its regular pot luck dinner meeting Thursday evening. The president, Mrs. Georgia Buster, presided and plans were discussed for the cbming Syracuse Police and Fireman’s fair and parade. Oren Burnworth of Warsaw told the club he hoped to contact several members of the Kosciusko county club to help with the float. Mrs. Buster appointed Mr. and Mrs. Owen Gertsch, Mrs. Valeria Hughes and Mrs. Emory Guy as float committee. A letter was read from Mrs. Ann Davis, ticket chairman for the fair, asking for help in selling tickets. A card was also read from Mrs. Agnes Stiffler who was in Scotland. All new members are to receive a copy of the constitution and by-laws of the club. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Diehl were host and hostess for the meeting. There were 22 present, including one new member, Mrs. Amanda Davisson of Milford. Guests were Mrs. Rebecca Ross of Mechanicsburg, 111., Mrs. Jack Burnstein of Fairfax, Va., and Stewart LeCount of Warsaw. Mrs. Nora Firestone and Mrs. Lydia Darr will be hostesses for the July 10 meeting. The July 24 meeting will be a picnic in the Syracuse park at 6:30.
