Wedding Yows Spoken By Marcia Ann Tenney And Michael Engle
Candelabra, yellow gladioli, and white mums with vases of white snapdragons in the background formed the setting in the Leesburg United Methodist church for the wedding of Miss Marcia Ann Tenney and Michael Engle on Sunday afternoon. June 1, at 2:30. White satin bows marked the pews. Rev. David Gosser, pastor of the church, read the double ring ceremony before 100 guests. Mrs. Avery Hall, organist, and Mrs. Gloria Shippley, soloist, provided the nuptial music. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merrit (Gene) Tenney of r 1 Warsaw (Oswego) and Mrs. Willis Engle of Warsaw is the mother of the bridegroom. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a bridal gown of a silk organza silhouette over a sheath of taffeta. The yoke was of Venice lace and featured bell sleeves. Matching lace flowerettes was sprinkled over the skirt with a border of lace to form the hem line. The detachable chapel length train was bordered with matching lace. Her bouffant shoulder length veil of illusion was held with a forward petal cap of Venice lace encrested with seed pearls. She carried yellow roses with ivy. Attendants In Nile Green Miss Vickie Oswalt of Leesburg served as maid of honor. Mrs. Norman Dukes of Winona Lake and Miss Mallie Burkhart of Warsaw were bridesmaids. They wore gowns of nile green crepe featuring an empire waist of Venice lace fashioned with scoop neckline and short sleeves. The A-line skirt of crepe was fashioned with a shoulder drape edged with Venice lace. Matching forward caps accented with matching lace flowerettes held the four tiered veils. They carried baskets of yellow centered white daisies. Susie Engle, niece of the bridegroom, served as flower girl. Her white dress over yellow had daisies embroidered on it. David Engle, nephew of the bridegroom was ring bearer. He carried the rings on a white satin pillow. Miss Laura Hurt of Warsaw registered the guests from Saint Joseph, Mich., Indianapolis, Oswego, Goshen, Warsaw, and Leesburg. Richard Engle of Warsaw served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Larry Engle of Warsaw, brother of the bridegroom, and Tom Hartman also of Warsaw. Danny Tenney and Gary Tenney, brothers of the bride, r 1 Warsaw, served as ushers. The mother of the bride chose a light beige dress with brown accessories for the wedding of her daughter. The mother of the bridegroom was attired in a light blue dress. Both wore coTsages of yellow roses. Reception Follows Following the wedding a reception was held in the Fellowship Hall of the church. Serving were Miss Kay Noel and Mrs. Sandy Logan, both of r r Leesburg. The gift table was in the charge of Miss Mary Neuby of North Webster, Miss Jeannie Richards of Oswego and Miss Joyce Marvel of Leesburg. Mrs. Engle is a graduate of the Leesburg high school and the Ravencroft Beauty college of Fort Wayne. She is employed at Joans Beauty Shop at Sechrist Lake and the House of Beauty at Warsaw. Mr. Engle is a graduate of the Warsaw Community high school and served in the air force. He is employed at Wholesale Electric Service Co., Inc. After a wedding trip to Wisconsin the newly married couple is residing at 421 west Fort Wayne street until their new home is completed in Brookwood Addition. * L - WSCS MEETS AT KAMMERER HOME Mrs. Chris Kammerer was hostess Thursday afternoon to members of the Martha Circle of WSCS. During the devotional period Mrs. Herman Ginther and Mrs. Bernice Watkins discussed the Bashor Home. They had attended a meeting held there recently. The program on Brazil was given by Mrs. Watkins. Strawberry pie, coffee and iced tea were served to the 10 members present.

Barbara and Jerry attended the wedding of Miss Beth Moon and Rodney Teeple Saturday afternoon at Wapello, lowa. MRS. HARTMAN HEADS LEESBURG AUXILIARY UNIT Members of the American Legion Auxiliary met Tuesday evening with Mrs. Kenneth Hartman. An election of officers was held with the following results: Mrs. Kenneth Hartman — president Mrs. Thelma McCorkle — vice president Mrs. John Lursen — 2nd vice president Mrs. Howard Lursen — secretary Mrs. Morris Huffman — treasurer Mrs. Herbert Timmons —• ser-geant-at-arms Mrs. Bertha McKibben — chaplain Games were played and refreshments served by the hostess. RUTH MISSIONARY CIRCLE MEETS The Ruth missionary circle met Thursday afternoon in the Oswego baptist church with Mrs. Fred Stookey as chairman. For devotions Miss Beulah Kehr read from the 12th chapter of Mark and also an article on the Hub of Life. The lesson was given by Mrs. Mabel Lippincott on The Price of the Serenity of the Church, which dealt with modern problems and what some churches are doing about it. Mrs. Zoa Metcalf read two letters from the special missionaries. The meeting closed with prayer by Mrs. Lippincott. TO BE GUEST SPEAKER AT TWO CHURCHES Jonathan Gosser will preach Sunday at both the Clunette United Methodist church and the Leesburg United Methodist church due to the absence of his father, Rev. David Gosser.

SHOWS FLORIDA SLIDES AT IDA JANE WEAVER CLUB Mr. and Mrs. Roger McConnell were recent guests of the Ida Jane Weaver club at a carryin dinner in the home of Mrs. Norman Huffer at Warsaw. Mrs. Harry Circle was program chairman. Mr. and Mrs. Roger McConnell showed slides taken while in Florida. Husbands were guests of the club. Homemakers Club In In June Meeting Mi's. Charles Smoker, president of the Leesburg Homemakers club, opened the meeting by reading a poem and led in giving the pledges and r ading the club creed. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Hartman. Mirs. Chris Kammerer gave the history of the song of the month “Tell Me Why” and all joined in singing the song. Mrs. Dale Morehouse gave the meditations, reading “Time To Pray” and “Used Cares”. The president gave a report on the council meeting and Mrs. Chester Albert reported on the Homemakers i conference held at Purdue university. Members answered roll call by telling of a Vacation I Would Enjoy. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Everett Tom, the co-hostess. Nancy Croop Honored With Bridal Shower Mrs. Chris Kammerer entertained Thursday evening at a miscellaneous bridal shower in honor of Miss Nancy Croop of Warsaw. She will be married July 12 to Virgil Delph of Anderson. Games were played with the prizes being presented to Nancy. Guests were members of the Anglin family. CHARLES LYONS RECEIVES HONOR Charles Lyons, a student in the school of industrial management of Purdue university, was given a distinguished rating for the; past semester. This honor is given to students in the top five per cent of the class each semester'. ENTERTAIN FOLLOWING WEDDING REHEARSAL Mr. and Mrs. Merrit Tenney assisted by Mrs. Willis Engle entertained 15 guests May 31 ac their home at a luncheon following the rehearsal for the wedding of Miss Marcia Ann Tenney and Michael Engle.
Lake Tippecanoe Protective Assn. Meets The Lake Tippecanoe Protective Association met recently at Patona Bay for their annual meeting and election of officers. Elected were: Jess C. Pritchett — president Robert Wise — vice president George Paton — secretary and treasurer. The association members are planning on publishing a lake directory. It was announced the annual dinner dance will be held at the country club August 15. Eight Square Club Meets Tuesday Evening Mrs Edward Morgan was hostess to members of the Eight Square club Tuesday evening with Mrs. Melvin Gunter co-hos-tess. Mrs. Wallace Huffman gave the history of the song ■“Tell Me Why” and led the group in singing the song. Meditations were given by Mrs. Roy Hizer. Health and safety remarks were given by Mrs. Morgan and garden hints by Mrs. Hizer. Style At Your Windows was the subject of the lesson discussed by Mrs. Rex Sausman. Members answered roll call by telling Where I Started Housekeeping. Plans were made for a picnic to be held July 20 at the Robert Siookey campground. The group will go as a body to see a play on July 15. Refreshments were served by the hostesses. Tippy Lee Club Meets With Mrs. John Bell Mrs. John Bell was hostess Wednesday night to members of the Tippy Lee club with Mrs. Zazil Badger as assistant hostess. There were 12 members and three guests Mrs. Linda Konkle, Mrs. Wayne Huffer and Mrs. Bill Gross present. Mrs. Richard Allen reviewed the history of the song “Tell Me Why” and led the group in singing the song. Mrs. Bill Gross told of the care of wigs and wiglets and had several she displayed. Door prizes were won by Mrs. Norman Archer and Mrs. John Moneyheffer. Mrs. John Flory, chairman of the bazaar, showed sketches she had made telling how the display would be set up. There will be the bazaar table, the bake sale table, the white elephant sale table and a gold fish contest on Leesburg Days. Mrs. Norman Archer gave the meditations. Refreshments were served. Bible School Closing Program Sunday Evening The Bible school closing program of the Oswego Baptist church was held Sunday evening with 204 present. They had an enrollment of 78 with the
highest attendance on any day of 70. The children gave $75 in the offering for the Baptist Childrens Home. Rev. John Lee an artist painted a picture in oil. He is from the Faith Baptist church in Trenton, N. J. Also a feature on the program was a solo by Charles Grabill of Altoona, Pa. COMMUNITY NEWS Miss Judy Coleman of Indianapolis is visiting Robert Paton at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Paton at Tippecanoe Lake. Mrs. Bernice Watkins entertained at dinner Sunday for Mrs. Nellie Randall of near Warsaw, Mr. and Mrs. John Eyer of Merriam and Mr. and Mrs. Merrit Rookstool. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith of South Bend were afternoon visitors. Rev. and Mrs. David Gosser will leave Friday for Roanoke, Va., where they will visit with Rev. Paul Trimpey, a brother of Mrs. Gosser. They will also visit Mr. and Mrs. Albert Plummer of Greensburg, Pa. Mrs. Plummer is a sister of Rev. Gosser. The WSCS of the Clunette United Methodist church will have a dinner meeting at a Syracuse restaurant Thursday evening. _ Plans are underway for the MYF to join with the Trinity Methodist church of Warsaw, July 13, for Institute at Epworth Forest. Rev. and Mrs. Davis Gosser will attend the funeral of Mrs. Joseph Conti at Chicago Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Hollett spent a day recently with Mr. and Mrs. William Pleonitz at Huntington. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Martin and family and the Salamonie Dam. Mr. and Mrs. Esta Yocum attended the Yocum reunion held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Yocum at Luken Lake Sunday.

The Albert reunion was held Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Albert with 58 attending. Members enjoyed a carry-in dinner at noon. Steve Barrett and Norwin (Skip) Lewis spent four days recently in Washington, D. C. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Grabill of Altoona, Pa., visited over the week end with Rev. and Mrs. Lee Kantenwein and family. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gross and family of Fallon, Nev., have been visiting relatives and friends in this vicinity. Mrs. Anna Bishop is visiting in New Haven with Mrs. Maltha Bozier. Mr. and Mrs. Roger McConnell attended the McConnell rerunion at Warsaw Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Nolan McConnell of Peru visited also with them. Following the reunion they attended the observance of the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Locke held at the Dutchtown church. In the evening Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hill of Warsaw were guests. Mrs. Bertha Frederickson and Mrs. Thelma McCorkle attended a district meeting of the Legion auxiliary held at North Judson Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Vassie Tom of Larwill spent Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. Everett Tom and in the afternoon they called on Millard Tom who has been released from the hospital to His home. Guy Fisher, Mrs. Everett Tom, and Mrs. Inez Shively took Mrs. Guy Fisher to the Goshen hospital Saturday where she was admitted as a patient. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Ginther spent the week end in South Bend with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Skoving. Miss Kathy Gosser of Mt. Prospect, 111., spent 10 days with Rev. and Mrs. David Gosser. Tom Buskirk and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Davis and Stephannie have returned to their home after a 10 day fishing trip at Lake Chapleau, Ontario, Can.
Cheryl Wildman of Kenosha, Wis., is visiting Mrs. Mary Coon and children. SPEND WEEK END AT MISSISSINEWA Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Vanlaningham, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Willson, Stacy and Shane, TimH / Campbell, all of Milford, and Miss Jody Reed of Warsaw camped at the Diamond X Riding Club near the Mississinewa Dam over the week end. The adults enjoyed horseback riding at Frances Slocum State Park and the children went fishing in the Mississinewa. The group was joined Sunday by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dale Doty and family of Milford and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Slabach of New Paris.

Kitchen Shower Honors Christine Sellers June 17 A kitchen and bathroom shower was given June 17 for diristine Sellers of Syracuse, who will be married to Roger Cormican on June 28. / The shower was given by her matron of honor and brideismaids, Mrs. Paul Hasse and Debi Sellers of Syracuse and Jodie Wiersch of Lawrence, Kans. A simulated bride and candles of the bride’s colors of aqua and white decorated the gift table. Petits-four cakes and fruit salad were served the guests from Syracuse, Milford, Warsaw, Elkhart and Wakarusa. Mrs. H. E. Sellers, mother of the bride, and Mrs. Georgia Cormican, mother of the bridegroom, also attended.
