Miss Katie Lemons, daughter of Mrs. Harley Lemons, will be poppy queen this year. —NW— Esty Dillon Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Baugher received word Saturday of the death of Esty Dillon in Groton, N. Y. Dillon was a former resident many years ago of the North Webster area. He was a cousin to Elmer Baugher. He died Saturday and funeral services were held on Monday in Groton, N. Y.

CHURCH OF GOD ACTIVITIES “Pearls of Melody” were the singers who appeared at the Church of God Sunday night for a musical program. They come from Bay Ridge Christian college, Kendleton, Texas. The group is colored and is traveling throughout the States this summer. After the. evening at church they were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. “Nub” Niles along with the young adult Sunday school class, the Omegans. Mrs. Cheryl Leedy was honored here as it was her birthday. -NW— Ministerial Association Has Booth On Drugs At Festival North Webster Ministerial Association has a booth on drugs and their effects at the merchant’s tent this week. They are showing real Marijuana and other drugs. Literature will be available. The booth will be manned by members of the several churches.

Miss Nancy M. Konzelman became the bride of Thomas B. Stephens in a double ring ceremony performed at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, June 7, in North Webster United Methodist church. Rev. John Weeks, pastor of the church, heard the vows in the presence of 65 guests. Baskets of pink gladioli, blue tinted daisies and roses were the altar flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Konzelman of North Webster are parents of the bride. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred T. Stephens, Fairlane Drive, Warsaw. Traditional wedding music was provided by Miss Cathy Bryant at the organ. Ivory Silk Organza Gown Given in marriage by her father, the bride was beautifully attired in an ivory silk organza gown, lavishly sprinkled with lovely pearl and crystal encrusted Peau d’ Ange lace appliques. The empire bodice featured a bateau neckline and long sleeves tapering to bridal points. The floor length A-line skirt was highlighted by a detachable chapel length train. pretty forward cluster headpiece which secured her elbow length veil of silk illusion. She carried a bouquet of garden flowers of daisies, lily of the valley, roses and baby’s breath. Miss Teresa Pifer, North Webster, was maid of honor. Her gown was light turquoise organza over taffeta. It featured a lace overlay bodice, a bateau neckline and A-line skirt. Her headdress was of daisies and baby’s breath. She carried a nosegay of garden flowers featuring daisies. Bridesmaids were Miss Mary Beth Gaskill, North Webster, and Miss Jane Carol Stephens, Warsaw, sister of the bridegroom. Their gowns and headdress were identical with that of the maid of honor. Jan and Mark Garvin of Nevi’ Castle were flower girl and ring bearer. They are cousins of the bridegroom. 4 Serving as best man was Duane Huffer, Warsaw. Ushers were Bob Stephens, Warsaw, brother of the bridegroom and James Garvin, New Castle. The bride’s mother chose for her daughter’s wedding a turquoise dress and coat ensemble with matching accessories. The

bridegroom’s mother wore a beige ensemble with matching accessories. Their corsages were daisies, roses, and baby’s breath. A reception was held at a North Webster restaurant. The bride is a graduate of North Webster high school and attended Indiana university. The bridegroom is a Warsaw high school graduate and a student at Indiana university. The couple will reside in Indianapolis and wiH continue their studies at the university. —NW— Efficient Homemakers Meet Thursday With Mrs. Richcreek The Efficient Homemakers club met last Thursday night at the home of Mrs. Viola Richcreek. Mrs. “Bus” Likens was the cohostess. Meditations was a poem about flowers by Mrs. Paul Kline. Health and safety was concerning measles and their danger, given by Mrs. Richcreek. Garden remarks by Mrs. Likens were on keeping your lawns healthy, “use fertilizer arourid maple and oak trees if they look withered; also use fertilizer around your roses as soon as the bloom decreases. Don’t ferget to keep them watered”. Members answered roll call naming their favorite jewel. Mrs. “Bud” Lantz had the song of the month, “Tell Me Why”. The lesson on Citizenship was given by Mrs. George Sliger. She used pictures and had literature to look at. A reminder was made about fair time. It was decided to give SSO to the Cardinal Learning Center at Warsaw. The hostess served salad, crackers and punch to 15 present. -NWMrs. Orva Miller Hosts Backwater Friends The Backwater Friends home ec club was a guest of Mrs. Orva Miller on Thursday night. President, Mrs. Archie Hoffert, opened the meeting by leading the pledges, she also gave a poem lor the meditations. “Tell Me Why”, the song of the month, was reviewed and led by Mrs. Eugene Coverstone. Health and safety leader Mrs. Jack Guy gave a report on tetanus, the importance of “booster” shots with children playing out; measles and their effects; and told how to store poison. Members were given a first aid chart to hang by the telephone with instructions to follow until a doctor can be notified. The garden remarks were by Mrs. Verne Hollar on mold on lilacs arid phlox. This can cause animals that touch the plants to itch. A spray can be purchased to prevent this mold from forming. Each one described her wedding gown for the answer to roll call. The lesson on “Citizenship” was given by Mrs. Ledru Gray. Good Citizenship is the appreciation of good things, the improving of self and community. She was priviledged to hear Mrs. John Aylesworth of Hebron, the person chosen to go abroad on the donations from home ec clubs with “the coins for friendship”. Mrs. Aylesworth visited London, Rome, Tehran and other places for a period of two and one-half months. She said, “We are an example of America wherever we go, it behoves us to have a good behavior pattern.” Mrs. Gray gave many instructions on flying the flag. It should not be left outside night and day except on the Capitol building snd during a battle while at war. Flags in a church should be at the minister’s right side. The best way to dispose of a flag is to burn it when it is soiled or torn. She showed how to fold a flag. After the lesson there was a white elephant sale to raise money for the treasury. There she will spend time with Lieutenant Bill Bensing, her husband, who is having his R and R from duty in Viet Nam. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bransford and son Jeff were Sunday dinner guests of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bransford. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Locke spent the week end visiting friends in Manchester, Tenn. Mrs. James Turner and son Bruce flew to Arizona. Thursday, to join her husband. The family went to California to attend the wedding of their son Charles.
