Tracy L. VanCuren Last rites were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the North Webster funeral home for Tracy L. VanCuren, 78, of North Webster. Rev. George Pontius, pastor of the Dutchtown Brethren church, officiated. Interment was in the Hillcrest cemetery at Pierceton. Mr. VanCuren died at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 29, in the Alfran nursing home at Warsaw. He was a patient here only a week, but had been ill for several years. Death was due to complications. He was born in Washington township, Kosciusko county, April 17, 1891. The son of William and Delilah VanCuren, he was a resident of Pierceton, Morris Chapel and the Barbee lake area his entire life until moving to the town 1 of North Webster nearly five years ago. Chapel school and the Pierceton Presbyterian church. He was a retired farmer. Mr. VanCuren was united in marriage on November 23, 1913, to Agnes Helfrich, also of the Pierceton-Morris Chapel area and their first home was northwest of Pierceton. Mr. and Mrs. VanCuren observed their golden wedding anniversary at open house at the Barbee Conservation club house November 24, 1963, both holding a membership in that club. Mrs. Van Curen has served as the Barbee lake Pierceton Press reporter for 18 years and the couple’s home has always been open to all. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Emerson (Mary) Stiner of Wolf Lake, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters. Leroy Colby Leroy Colby, 75, 711 Rue street, Elkhart, brother of Mrs. Roy (Grace) Arnold of Milford, died Thursday in the Elkhart hospital at 2:15 a.m. Retiring in 1963, he had been employed with the C. G. Conn Ltd., for 50 years. Mr. Colby was bom in White Pigeon, Mich., January 21, 1894, and was united in marriage to the former Nellie Marie Chandler on July 10, 1917, She preceded him in death on December 29, 1968. Surviving with the sister are a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Maxine) Fedder, and a son, Robert E., both ol Elkhart; one grandchild; and another sister, Mrs. Russell (Dorothy) Elliott, Elkhart. Services were held at 2 p.m.

Saturday in an Elkhart funeral biome with Rev. Raymond P. Brown officiating. Interment was in Rice cemetery. Mrs. Osborn Nesbit Last rites were held in a Columbia City funeral home Wednesday for Mrs. Orpha Nesbit, 84. of r 1 Pierceton. Rev. Forest Weddle, pastor of the Eastwood Chapel and a member of the Fort Wayne Bible college faculty, officiated. Interment was in Indian Village cemetery in Noble county- x Mrs. Nesbit died at 4:15 p. m. May 25 at Miller’s Merry Manor nursing home in Warsaw. She formerly lived in Columbia City but moved to Pierceton two years ago. She was born August 22, 1884, in Turkey Creek township, Kosciusko county. She was married to Arthur Wright first. He died in 1926. Later, in 1932, she married Osborn George Nesbit of Allen county, who died on June 23, 1964. Survivors include four grandchildren and nine great-grandchil-dren. She was preceded in death by two sons and two daughters. Mrs. John Green Mrs. John (Ethel) Green, 77, Leesburg, mother of Robert Hollar of Milford, died Friday at 3:40 p.m. at a Warsaw rest home, after suffering from complications resulting from a broken hip two months ago. Mrs. Green was born March 4, 1892, to Andrew and Lottie (Conrad) Steinbarger and had lived in Leesburg for ten years. In 1919 she married Lawrence Hollar, who preceded her in death in 1940. She then married Mr. Green in 1941, who survives with two other sons, Thurman Hollar, Hav. Hand, Kans., and Vernon Hollar,
North Webster. Otier survivors are six grandchildren; five great-grandchil-dren; and one brother, Joshua Steinbarger of Licking, Mo. One sister and four brothers preceded her in death. Services were conducted Monday and interment was in the Leesburg cemetery. Mrs. Etta Doty Mrs. Etta Doty, 90, r 2 Leesburg, died of complications at 7:10 a.m. Sunday at the home of her son, Loman Doty, r 1 Wakarusa where she had been staying for the past 10 weeks. She had been ill for a period of 18 weeks. She was born March 7, 1879, to William and Liza (Martin) Stackhouse in Kosciusko county. She married Zeb Doty, who preceded her in death August 11, 1929, on January 30, 1904. She was a member of the Mount Tabor Church of Godi. Surviving are the son, Loman Doty; one daughter, Miss Mae Doty, r 2 Leesburg; three grandchildren; two great - grandchildren; a brother, Herschel Stackhouse, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and three sisters, Mrs. Rose Harman Nappanee, Mrs. Clayton Harlan, r :i Etna Green, and Mrs. Harvey Moore of 4 2 Nappanee. T'uneral services were conducted Tuesday at the Mount Tabor Church of God with Rev. Darrell Prichard officiating and burial was in the Stony Point cemetery. Mrs. Edward Nusbaum Mrs. Edward (Lizzie) Nusbaum, 76, r 1 Wakarusa, died at 1C:3O p.m. Saturday at her home. She had been in poor health two years prior to her death. Mrs. Nusbaum was bom in Olive township, Elkhart county.

on August 16, 1892, and was married in 1911 to Milo Pletcher who preceded her in death in 1912. She married Edward Nusbaum in September, 1914, and he survives. She was a member of the Wakarusa Church of the Brethren. Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Mary) Atkinson, r 2 Milford; three sons, Robert Pletcher, South Bend, Roy Nusbaum, Granger, Harold Nusbaum, Osceola; seven grandchildren, and one brother, Roy Metzler of South Bend. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the Wakarusa Church of the Brethren and interment was in the Olive cemetery, north of Wakarusa. Clarence W. Walmer Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Haney of the Hastings community were in Defiance, Ohio, on Monday to attend funeral rites of Rev. Clarence W. Walmer, former pastor of the Island Chapel church near Hastings. Rev. Walmer, who died on Friday, served the Island Chapel church for a number of years and is well known in this area. At the same time he served a New Paris church. Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Trinity United Methodist church in Defiance, and burial was at Bangor, Mich. He had served as pastor at West Bridgewater, Ohio, and was a minister for 43 years of his life. He was born August 16, 1902. Survivors include the widow, a son and four daughters. Mrs. Dessie Fidler Mrs. Dessie Fidler, 87, Cromwell, died Thursday morning in the Goshen hospital. She was born January 1, 1882, in Kosciusko county and had lived at Cromwell for 40 years. Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Mrs. David (Norma) Franks, Ligonier; two great-grandchildren; and three nieces and two nephews. Services were held Saturday at Cromwell. Rev. Dwight Stoner officiated and burial was in the North Webster cemetery. Rev. Raymond R. Wilson Rev. Raymond D. Wilson, 74, of r 5 Warsaw, pastor of the Island Chapel United Methodist church in the Hastings community, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on Monday at 7:45 a. m. in his home. Prior to seven years of ministry at Island Chapel, Rev. Wilson also served churches at Atwood, Churubusco, North Manchester, Decatur, Sugar Grove, Claypool, Twelve Mile, New Waverly, and Shiloh. Rev. Wilson was born to Frank and Laura Wilson on June 26, 1894, at Wabash. He married Edith Hackett, who preceded him in death in 1920. On October 7, 1947, he married Blanche Eherenman, who survives. Rev. Wilson was a member of the Warsaw Masonic lodge and the Order of

One brother preceded him in death in 1950. Services were conducted at Warsaw at 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Trinty United Methodist church with Dr. Marshall Chambers of Indianapolis, assisted by Dr. A. Hunter Colpitts of Fcrt Wayne, officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at Hillcrest cemetery at Six Lakes at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Jean Kaiser In State Contest Miss Jean Ann Kaiser, daughter of Robert Kaiser of Milford and the late Mrs. (Helen) Kaiser, will be among the 16 young women of the state of Indiana competing for the title of “Young. Career Woman” of the state who will represent Indiana at the National Business and Professional Women’s convention in St. Louis in July. Jean Ann is a teacher of music at the Jefferson high school at West Lafayette and will be competing with the 16 other young ladies at the state BPW convention to be held in Evansville June 6, 7 and 8. The young career women will have a banquet on Friday evening, June 6, in Evansville and will compete on Saturday. The winner will be announced at the Saturday afternoon business session and will give her three minute speech at the Sunday morning convention breakfast. Miss Kaiser was the winner of district five and will represent that district at the convention. 4-H MEETING TO BE HELD JUNE 7 The Junior Merry Maidens will hold a meeting on Saturday, June 7. Everyone, in alphabetical order up to Susie Myers, who has not already given a demonstration, should report to the Milford fire station at 9 a.m. The remaining members should report at 1 p.m. Mr. and Robert Brewster, Syracuse Lake, have returned from a two-week stay in Athens, Greece, which was spent cruising the islands of the Aegean sea.

Wawasee Seniors Honored At Parties
Several members of the Wawasee high school senior class were honored at parties and receptions on Sunday following baccalaureate and commencement exercises. Information on those parties follows: Sandra Yeager — Mr. and Mrs. Paul Yeager and family of Syracuse entertained Sunday evening for their daughter and sister, Sandra. Punch and cake were served to 24 guests from Warsaw, Goshen and Syracuse. Charles Coburn — Mr. and Mrs. Bill Coburn and family honored their son and brother, Charles Kenneth (Chuck) Coburn after graduation at their home on Dolan drive, Syracuse. Punch and cake were served to 40 guests. Mrs. Gene Kitson assisted in serving. Guests were from Wabash, Goshen, North Manchester and Syracuse. Susan Wilson — A 5 o’clock graduation supper was served Sunday in honor of their daughter, Susan, by Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wilson in their home. Among out-of-town guests were: Mrs. Ethel Shoup, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Orr and family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert More and family of Circleville, Dr. and Mrs. Frank D. Diana Morehouse — Diana Morehouse was honored in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Morehouse of near Milford, following commencement exercises Sunday. Many friends and relatives came to their home during the evening. Larry Kammerer — Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kammerer entertained following commencement at the Wawasee high school Sunday evening for their son, Larry, who was one of the graduates. Mr. and Mrs. David Pulver and Mark of Woodburn and Mr. and Mrs. Don Yergler and family of Wellington, 111., were among the 49 relatives and friends who attended. Larry plans to attend Grace college this fall. Mrs. Stamper served cake, ice cream, nuts, mints, punch and tea to approximately 15 guests. Diane P. CurtisMiss Diane P. Curtis was the guest of honor at a graduation reception held in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Curtis of r 1 Milford, on Sunday evening following commencement exercises. Mrs. Curtis served ice cream and cake to the following guests: Mr. and Mrs. Dale Osborn, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Daum, Mrs. Alvin Puterbaugh and daughters, Mrs. Raymond Smith and three children, Lola Mae Gerten, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Eby and two children, Mrs. Fern Curtis and Christine Hamilton, all of Elkhart. Included were Mrs. Pamela Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Schinske, Tammy, Diana, Susan and Matt from Berrien Springs, Mich.; Miss Rhonda Huffman of North Webster; Mrs. Virginia Marsh, Edward Drake, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald D. Smith, Mike, Roger, Doug and Terry of Syracuse; Monday evening a surprise reception was held for relatives and friends with cake and punch being served. Guy Fisher and Keevin Estep— A buffet reception honoring Guy William Fisher and Keevin Estep was held following the Wawasee high school commencement exercises on June 1, in the ■ home of the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Fisher of Syracuse. Centered around the lime sherbet punch and the inscribed cake were gold tapers representing the class colors. Yellow roses were arranged throughout the house and tea roses graced the buffet. Photos of the graduates were taken by Percy Bartlett as they j received their many lovely gifts. The 50 guests present included I friends and relatives from Fort Wayne, Warsaw, Syracuse, Milford and Elkhart.
