Sidney Brothers Collide In Effort To Win Way To State Tournament Two Sidney brothers - Tom and Larry Davis ran into cne another head-first in an effort to catch the same fly ball in the final game of the IHSAA baseball regional tournament at Columbia City Saturday afternoon. The resulting collision knocked both boys out, sending them to the Whitley county hospital for the night. They were unconscious for several hours. The Davis blethers are members of the South Whitley school team which was playing DeKalb. The win would have taken them to the state baseball tournament. Earlier in the same game, South Whitley pitcher, Stanton Frantz was hit in the face with a fast ball, but he was not hospitalized. In view of all this mayhem, one would think surely South Whitley would have won the game, but they didn’t. They lost to DeKalb 5 to 3.

CARDS THANKS Up
CARD OF THANKS It is the end of an era. This is the way we felt as the last piece of furniture was loaded and we drove silently down the highway, away from Milford, where, for six brief years, we had shared with the community in its joys and sorrows and had attempted to add a little to the overall betterment of the people, in our own small way. We feel we must thank each one for the happiness we have shared, the lovely deeds which have been perpetuated for us and altogether for allowing us to be, not just transients, but a part of the “family” of Milford. A special word of thanks to the United Methodist church for all the kindness extended to us through the years and also, to the Order of the Eastern Star for the honor bestowed upon us. As we start a new life in Sweetser, the beginning of a new era, we will not forget our wonderful friends and we pray they will remember us, with love. (Rev.) Richard and Gladys Sumner CARD OF THANKS I wish to thank all the people who donated blood for me while I was in the Robert Long hospital and those who remembered me with cards., Mrs. Verl Lindzy CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank everyone who patronized the boy scout fish fry Friday night. We would also like to apologize for the slow service which was due to low electric voltage. The Syracuse Boy Scouts CARD OF THANKS We would like to thank all our friends, neighbors and relatives for gifts, kindness and help while our daughter, Tracy Jean, was in the hospital. We want to give a special thanks to the employees of Penn Controls at Syracuse, Rev. Wagoner, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gray. Glen and Beulah Shear CARD OF THANKS I wish to express my thanks to my friends and neighbors for their visits, prayers, cards and other acts of kindness shown during the illness and death of my wife. By JERI SEELY We’re going to have to have a talk with the weatherman. These sunny week days and rainy week ends are getting to us. The June weather forecast calls for an unusually wet month with a total of five inches of precipitation expected. I think we’ve already had it! The forecast for July is excellent, however, so at least we’ve something to look forward to. We are to have at least seven days of 90 degree plus weather, although we should have some thunderstorms during the middle of the month. At least the August forecast doesn’t call for rain. It does, however, call for cool days with only three days in the 90’s. Oh well, if we can’t talk about the weather what can we talk abcut? $ ❖ ❖ School is out and children are adjusting to vacation. Many are attending Bible schools which are underway or will begin soon at the several churches of the community. s * Speaking of churches, Tony Gaff is the new youth minister at the Christian church. He is a student at Lincoln Christian college in Lincoln, 111., and a resident of Ligonier. He will be staying in Our Town this summer and working with the youth of the church. We did want to comment last week on how much we enjoyed the junior high school band in the Memorial Day parade. Director James White did an outstanding job with the youngsters. Many of Our Town’s citizens enjoyed watching and listening to the band as its members marched up and down the streets practicing during recent weeks. We’ve congratulated everyone cn their birthday and anniversary so this week friend husband joins me in extending special good wishes to my folks, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bushong of Waubee Lake.
