B Will it be Enough? ■ John 16.1-I 5 ? s A . X'X' z i'b-r " El " fl I IL ’ Acts 2:1 -13 IHIIHBMISIIHBBI?; Acts 2:14-21 Acts 3:1 . 10 Today it's just a skeleton against the sky. But tomorrow people will live in it, and it will become <1 home. Within its walls, the pattern of life will be carried out. Acts 3:11-26 But will this be enough? As a home, will this house stand • or fall as the years pass? Will the people who live in it AcK develop into better, stronger human beings? Or will they 4:1-12 acquire selfishness, greed, indifference, conceit? • Remember the foolish man vrho built his house on sand, Ach only to have the rains wash it away, and the wise man who 4:13 ' 22 built his house permanently on a rock? The future of this house —the future of a home —depends upon its foundation. Scriptures selected by the American Bible Society In the story, the "rock" symbolizes the Church. Those who build their faith upon its foundation will take into their homes the strength to keep tlhem stamping, regardless of what life may bring.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU DO WITH THIS GALILEAN Co*rr<«bt. IMO. DomM C. WUdmon
Gilbert West was a noted author and educator in England. Sir Edward Littleton was a famous English jurist and among the leaders in the English intellectual world. They shared one thing in common. Both were avowed skeptics and both : >t only doubted the validity of the way of the Nazarene, but were openly opposed to it. The two men met to determine what course of action they could best take to rid the world of this “religion of a madman.*’ After much study and debate. they decided that the best way to get riid of this fairy land faith would be to destroy it’s basis, it’s principles, it’s teachings. They arrived at the conclusion that two parts of the teachings of Christianity should be destroyed above everything else, and that after these were torn down all the other teachings would come crumbling also. Destroy Two Great Beliefs According to these two men, the two beliefs that needed destroying in order to destroy Christianity were the resurrection of it’s Founder and the change of life of it’s greatest proclaimer—Paul. West took upon himself the task of doing away with the resurrection and Littleton had the job of proving that there was never a changing experience in the life of Paul. Shaking hands, they parted to go their way and do their job. When they met again, it was agreed, they would have enough evidence to put to an end—once and for all time—this crazy teaching of the Christian faith. There have been, down through the
REMEMBER ... WHEN IT HAPPENED IN SYRACUSE C»NE YEAR AGO The Syracuse high school alumni banquet was held Saturday evening in the high school cafeteria with 298 persons attending. The Syracuse fire department was called at 10:35 p.m. Monday to VyLactos Laboratories, Inc., on south Huntington street when fire caused a power shutoff. There was no estimate of damage given. Mrs. Richard Coy has returned to Syracuse from Jacksonville, Fla. Her husband, 2/C Petty officer Richard Coy is aboard the USS Intrepid enroute to Viet Nam. Don L. Rinehart, 70, a former Syracuse lake resident, died in his home at Vero Beach, Fla. Survivors are his wife and one son. Herbert B. Tuttle of r 1, is a patient in the Goshen hospital. FIVE YEARS AGO Rev. J. Ross Richey, pastor of the Methodist church here since 1960, last Sunday was appointed to the pastorate of the Churubusco Methodist church in that town. Keys; to the South Shore Inn, famous Lake Wawasee landmark sold last week, was turned over by former owner Jap Jones to Nick Gulaboff of Gary who now owns the hotel. Mrs, Ernest Bushong was elected president of the SyracuseWawasee Garden club at the meeting Tuesday evening. Jessie J. Juday, 78, formerly of Syracuse, died June 1. Survivors; are two brothers of Goshen. Michael Lucas of Decatur is spending two weeks with his grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Ralph Loose, r 4. TEN YEARS AGO Ernest Bushong, postmaster emphasized Tuesday that street names and numbers must be used on all mail for prompt delivery by city carriers. . Women’s Relief Corps members met for a pot luck dinner in the home of Mrs. Alva Nicolai Sunday. A service on Syracuse Lake was held in the afternoon honoring all service men buried at sea. years, countless men who have attemped to do what Gilbert West and Edward Littleton set out to do. This Galilean has been ridiculed, shamed, mocked, and envied for nearly two thousand years. Individuals and nations have thrown their full weight and power into the battle to destroy Him and His way of life. Some of the best minds in all the world have opPeople have used His name to curse People have used His name to curse and his cause to kill. He Still Calls Somehow, through it all, despite all that the combined forces of millions of men could do against Him, He still calls to the hearts of men. We can take Him out of history books but we can’t take Him out of history. We can take men away from Him. but we can’t take Him away from men. We can take Him out of our home but we can’t get Him out of our hearts. Following a year of research and study to prove their point, Gilbert West and Edward Littleton met to compare their findings and set about on their seU-appointed task. West was surprised when Littleton told him that as a result of his research he had become a follower of the Carpenter. And Littleton was equally surprised when West told him that he, too, had taken up the Way of the Cross because of his study. Two men who set out to destroy Christianity both became Christians after making a serious study of the Faith. Better be careful about taking this Man of Galilee serious. You might end up following Him.—Five Star Features
