Nancy Barth, Thomas Levemier Repeat Wedding Vows Friday Evening
Wedding vows were exchanged Friday evening, May 2, at seven o’clock in the Milford United Methodist church by Miss Nancy Lee Barth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Barth of ncrth Main street, Milfcrd, and Thomas D. Levemier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel C. Levemier, also of north Main street, Milford. Rev. Richard Sumner, pastor of the Milford church, performed the double ring ceremony in the presence of 32 guests. White gladioli and yellow daisies formed the church decorations. Mrs. C. D. Barnes, crganist, provided the nuptial music. Given in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a white lace, lined with taffeta, street length gown, trimmed in white satin. She wore a petal headpiece with a short tulle veil and carried yellow roses. Attendants Attendants were Miss Barbara Barth of Milford, sister of the bride, and Timothy M. Levemier, brother of the bridegroom. Guests were seated by Douglas Miller of Syracuse, brother-in-law of the bridegroom. Miss Barth was attired in a street length frock of yellow lace lined in taffeta. She had a yellow veil and carried yellow roses. The bride’s mother wore a pink lace dress and Mrs. Levemier, mother of the-bridegroom, wore a light beige dress. Each had a corsage of pink roses A reception was held at eight o’clock in the home of the bridegroom’s parents with 70 guests in attendance. Miss Barbara Barth

served the punch with Miss Debra Levemier, Miss Sharon Levernier and Miss Kathy Barth serving the cake decorated with yellow roses. Following a brief wedding trip, the couple will reside in Milford. The bride attended Wawasee high school and is employed at Barth, Inc., Milford. A graduate of Milford high school, Mr. Levemier is also employed at Barth, Inc. Work Night Planned By Waubee Board Members of the Waubee Lake Property Owners Association board met last Thursday evening and heard a preliminary report on the biological data of the lake as presented by Ed Washier. They also discussed cleaning out the outlet and voted to hold a work night at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 8. All persons interested in the lake and its improvements are asked to meet at the Lakeside park. SYRACUSE MAN JAILED William C. Hew Salem Bt MRS. RAT FERVERDA YOUNG FOLKS ENJOY ROAST The young folks class enjoyed a wiener roast around a campfire at the church on Sunday following services. Other carryin foods were also served. During the afternoon games were played. A total of 17 class members were present as were pastor and Mrs. Michael Ostrander and Shawn, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Tom, Jr., and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Baker and sons. -NS- I COUNTY WCTU MEETING HELD | The spring meeting of the Kosciusko county Women’s Christian Temperance Union was held in the New Salem church on Tuesday. Mrs. Laurence Wijcoxson of North Webster gave the devotions and offered prayer. Mrs. Herbert Eberhardt of Winona Lake presented special music. “The Spirit of 74”, a sound film which depicted the early history cf the national union told of the membership drive for one million members by 1975, was shown. A sack lunch was lenjoyed at the noon hour with coffee and punch being served by the New Salem women. In the afternoon Mrs. Russell Gunter of Warsaw gave devotions and Mrs. Glen Morehouse of Milford introduced the speaker, Chief of police James Hess cf Goshen, who told of narcotics. Mrs. Eberhardt spoke of the Loyal Temperance Legion. County president Mrs. Parke Pearson presided during the day. —NS—LADIES CLEAN Several women met at the church on Thursday to do cleaning and were invited to the home of Mrs. Howard Kreider for a carry-in dinner. Those present were Mrs. Ellis Wildman, Mrs. Ruth DeFries, Mrs. William Weyl|right ~and Mrs. Ray Ferverda. —NS—HELPING HANDS IN MEETING The Helping Hands met at the church Tuesday evening for their regular meeting. ' Mrs. Everett Tom, Jr., accompanied as group singing was directed by Mrs. Glen Morehouse. Inspiring devotions were presented by Mrs. Wayne Teepie, reading verses dp scripture and poems of springtime and offered prayer. Rev. David Gcsser, chalk artist and pastor of the Leesburg United Methodist church, was introduced and displayed pictures of “Praying Hafjds,” “Ministering Hands” and “Discovering Using My. Hands,”. Two girls attending, Cynthia Rapp and Debra Plank were asked to read poems as he painted several scenes. There were 28 women and girls attending. Mrs. Robert Hurd presided during a short business session.
Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Elmer Rapp and Mrs. Vere Wildman. They served refreshments of angel food cake, nuts, coffee and punch in the fellowship hall. COMMUNITY NEWS Mrs. Edna Tom and Miss Doris Tom were week end guests of Mrs. Torn’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Cripe, at Liberty Mills. Doug Shively of r r Leesburg entered three paintings at the Lakeland art show. He received third on one painting which is now on display in downtown Warsaw. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Baker, Doug and David spent Sunday evening with Russell Baker in the Veterans hospital at Fort Wayne. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schermerhorn, Cynthia and Doug of Leesburg entertained at dinner on Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. Noah Endsley of Huntington, Miss Patricia Schermerhcrn and Mr. and Mrs. McNamanan of Indianapolis. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Schermerhorn of near Roann spent Saturday in the Paul Schermerhorn home in Leesburg and Saturday night and Sunday in the Lawrence Sawyer home on r 1. Visitors attending services on Sunday forenoon at New Salem were Mrs. George Whitlock of Bremen who was spending the week end at Dewart Lake; and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Reckner and children of Hammond who were also at Dewart Lake. The Misses Leia Dunwiddie and Marceile Curry of Bluffton and Mr. and Mrs. Guy Morehouse were guests at dinner on Sunday of Mr. and Kirs. Glen Morehouse, Diana and Georgina of r I.' Mrs. Gladys Van Sickle of Decatur, 111., is spending some time with her cousin, Mrs. Howard Kreider. Mrs. Ruth DeFries of Milford, Mrs. Virginia Bockman of North Webster, Mrs. Ruth Setton of r r Leesburg and Mrs. Chloe Robison of Leesburg enjoyed dinner together on Sunday. The afternoon was spent in the home of Mr'S ißobison. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Morehouse of north cf Milford and granddaughter, Tina Walters, attended the program cf Aunt Bertha’s Children’s home in Elkhart Sunday afternoon. The program was held in the First Baptist church there. Mrs. Edna Tom, Mrs. John Mullinix, Marianne and Marcia, and Mrs. Herbert Morehouse attended the mother-daughter banquet at the Maple Grove Church cf the Brethren last Thursday. Wedding dresses and fashions at the turn of the century were modeled. Syracuse Local Mr. and Mrs. Larry Scheuer, Syracuse, spent Sunday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Scheuer at Plymouth. Their children, Bret and Bianca returned home with them.
Grace Lutheran Church MotherDaughter Banquet The L. C. W. of the Syracuse Grace Lutheran church held its annual mother-daughter banquet Wednesday, April 30, at Wawasee Prep. Table grace was given by Mrs. Theora Hull. The welcome was presented by Mrs. Robert Bowser, Mrs. Edward McQuillan and Susan McQuillan. Guest speakers were Marta Juday and Bertha Campos. Mrs. Jack Darr was mistress of ceremonies. The theme for the evening was Hawaii. The committee on arrangements for the evening was Mrs. Charles Miller, Mrs. Bill S. Betes and Mrs. Walter Hagerdon. CHURCH OF GOD MISSION CIRCLE MEETS The Syracuse Church of God Mission circle met April 30 in the home of Rev. and Mrs. Victor Yeager. Mrs. Jack Elam, president, conducted the meeting. group singing of “For God So Loved the World”. Mrs. Yeager led in prayer. Mrs. Martha Koble read the 13th chapter of First Corinthians and an article “Baked with Love” Mrs. Walter Williams read an article “Enthusiasm Makes a Difference” by Norman Vincent Peale. Mrs. Elam dismissed with prayer. The mother-daughter banquet will be held this week in the church parlor. The hostess served refreshments to 15 members and one guest, Mrs. Ted Grindle. Pvt. Ricky L. Brennan Stationed In Germany Pvt. Ricky L. Brennan, son of Mrs. Fred Personette of Syracuse, left Sunday for Germany where he will be stationed for the next two years. Pvt. Brennan entered the army December 4, 1968, and took his basic training at Fort Campbell, Ky. Before receiving his orders for Germany, Brennan completed schooling at Fort Knox, Ky.
