The purpose of the day-long trip was to acquaint the students with the various museums of Chicago and to visit various displays that were of particular interest. Before their trip the student! were given various inter-related assignments concerning their destinations and were divided into small groups. These groups spent the day together in visiting the museums and upon their return discussing the things they had observed in Chicago.

Eighth Graders Go To Chicago The eighth graders of Milford left by bus from the junior high school building about 8:30 Friday morning and arrived in Chicago shortly before noon. The first two museums visited were the Chicago Museum of Natural History and the John G. Shedd Aquarium. Three hours were spent studying the many displays available to the visitor The next stop was at the Museum of Science and Industry where the eighth graders ate their sack lunches and visited points of interest. Everyone agreed that the museum was very large and that they got only a little taste of information available. The students left Chicago about 5 o’clock and stopped along the turnpike to eat their dinner in a restaurant. They arrived back in Milford about 9 p. m.

Junior High Hi kites WHAT’S HAPPENING By Jean Mellinger There will be a track meet Friday with Rome Gity. The meet will be held at 4:30 at Syracuse. Girls — Jean Mellinger and Kim Trobaugh, first; Roberta Rhodes, second, and Sonja Whisler, third. —JHS—LINDA’S LINES The Parent-Teacher association held da meeting last Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The program was entitled “Art”, and presented by Mrs. Knapp and Mr. Angle, our Syracuse junior high and elementary school art instructors. Work by every student was displayed over the whole building, including the foyer, halls and elementary art room. The building was open before and after the program in order to be viewed completely. Boosters To Meet Monday Members of the Wawasee Boosters, Inc., will meet at the State Bank of Syracuse at 7:30 next Monday, April 21, to plan for this year’s money raising drive, Superintendent Don H. Arnold of the Lakeland schools will be present to report on the amount of money that is needed to pay for the uniforms and equipment of the music and athletic departments of Wawasee high school. All interested persons are invited to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Emory Guy, Syracuse, visited Mr. and Mrs. Roger LeCount and son at Warsaw on Sunday afternoon.

Camp Fire Girls Executive Board Meets April 2 The executive committee of the Syracuse Camp Fire Girls met April 2 in the Scout cabin. Mrs. Raymond Wilson called the meeting to order. Mrs. Bill Darr reported on the Blue Bird Candy sale which will be held on May 3 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Mrs. Jay Brouwer reported on Arbor Day. Saturday, April 12, was clean up day at the Scout cabin. The Blue Birds and Camp Fire girls raked the grounds. They did a very nice job. Lakeland Cooks To Confab Members of Indiana School Food Service Association (ISFSA) will hold their 16th annual convention on April 18-19 at Pick high school, MSD Pick township, Indianapolis. More than 1,000 school food service officials and cafeteria workers from 21 chapters throughout the state will attend. The Lakeland Community School Corporation will be represented at the meeting by Mrs. Mourice Koher, foor service mgr. and Mrs. Paul Baugher, North Webster. 14 Inducted Into National Honor Society At Wawasee Friday A.M.

Members of the orchestra, choruses, and bands at Ncrth Webster junior high school will present a concert of varied music on Friday evening, April 18. Court News EXECUTRIX NAMED Irene E. McNutt, r 2 Syracuse, has been named executrix of the will of her husband, the late Leon F. McNutt, who died December 15, 1968. FINED IN ELKHART Joe Mata Cruz. 37, Milford, lost his driver’s license for 90 days and paid fines and costs of $43.25 in an Elkhart JP court Monday on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicating beverages. Cruz was arrested by state troopers Henry Cripe and Joseph Baker on state road 15 at 9:05 p.m. Saturday following a minor accident. Cruz, whose birthday was on Saturday, told officers he sustained a black eye in a fight at Milford. He was being pursued by Baker when his car left the road and snapped off a telephone pole. Lakeland Youth News There will be a dance at the Lakeland Youth Center Friday night 8 to 11 p.m. Music will be provided by “The Circus”.

Susie Smith On School Band Tour Miss Susie Smith, 16, a junior in Wawasee high school, daughter of Mrs. Gerrie Smith of 107 Benston street, Syracuse, will travel to Europe this summer as a member of the School Band and Chorus of America. The group with Mr. and Mrs. Varner Chance will meet other groups at New York in June. They will return in July. A fish fry is being held at the Wawasee Golf club on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. to help with expenses for Susie. Susie has been a cheerleader and a member of the band and choir at Syracuse for three years. She is treasurer of the student council, FTA music club, the GAA and Gymnastics club.

Leesburg Merchants Hold Monthly Meeting The Leesburg Merchants Association held its regular monthly meeting at the town hall Monday, April 7, with 10 members present. After the regular business was taken care of plans were started for “Leesburg Days.” Two chairmen were appointed — Mrs. Lawrence Randall, games; and Myron Tschupp, horseshoe. All clubs in Leesburg will be contacted and invited to participate. Further plans will be announced as they are made.

( If A Man Answers’ To Be April 18-19

“If A Man Answers,” the first drama production at Wawasee high school, will be presented on April 18 and 19 at 8 p. m. in the auditorium. Chantal Stacey has become a headache to her father John because she refuses to settle down and get married. To satisfy her father’s wishes Chantal became engaged to three of Boston’s most eligible bachelors. Upon hearing this John immediately moves his wife Germaine and Chantal to New York City. When Chantal arrives in New York her first goal is to get a job, but with one qualification that plenty of available men are employed there. One day she meets Gene Wright, a model photographer, and he asks Chantal to pose for him on a calander. After meeting Gene, Chantal knows he is the one for her and sets out to trap him. She catches her prey easily. The honeymoon is over when Tina Brooks, Chantal’s best friend arrives and decides she wants Gene for herself and is determined to break up the marriage. Chantal sees what is happening and goes to her mother for advice. Germaine gives her a book entitled “How To Train Man’s Best Friend” or in other words treat your husband like a dog.

LIST WINNERS IN SYRACUSE EGG HUNT Winners in the Wawasee Area Jaycees Easter egg .hunt held at Syracuse are as follows: Kevin Stahley won the preschool grand prize and was awarded a rabbit. Daren Grisamer found the most eggs in the pre-school age group, 38, and was presented an easter basket. Teresa Carpenter found 37 eggs and won the Easter basket for grades one through three. Deanna Hoover found 25 eggs and won the Easter basket in the fourth to sixth grade group.
