He knew nothing of |. 1 outer space ... of galaxies hurtling through the void ... of particles of energy and matter spinning their way from a onetime explosion toward the edges of the universe. w | u He knew only the skies of bis native land .. . their lights and I I shadows and ever-changing drifts of cloud. V I But he knew, as millions before and since, that these skies I I were no accident. They told him of the Mind and Heart that rules the domain of life. They told him we are not alone. II "The heavens declare the glory of God,” he wrote in the 19th 1 Psalm, "The firmament showeth his handiwork.” Through those same skies rode the star that drew men to the scene of our Savior’s birth. Against those skies is always silhouetted the Cross on which He died for us. Under those skies we’ll worsibp together the Risen Lord. Copyright 1969 Keister Advertising Service, Inc., Strasburg, Va. A lot of people will call me stupid, I know. Some will feel sorry for me. Others will snicker a little and say. that I should grow up. We humans have away of expressing our feeling* without ever uttering a word. And reading all the expressions I come to the conclusion that this will be the attitude of many toward me. But it doesn't really matter what others think of me. What is important is what 1 think of myself and what the Carpenter thinks of me. Somehow, if 1 have His approval and blessing all the other snide remarks seem to have away of diminishing in importance. So 1 guess that's the reason that what others think just isn't imiortant. Their being relatively unimportant. 1 feel free to make the following known about myself. It Happened That Way 1 believe it happened. I believe that, basically, it happened just the way we have been taught it happened. I believe they took a just Man—the most just Man ever to walk on the face of this earth—and they nailed Him to a tree. 1 believe they did it because of their selfishness and sinfulness. I believe He allowed it to happen. I believe that He had the power to stop it. destroy them all if He wished. But I believe He allowed them to do it because of His great love. 1 believe it broke His heart that inside He wanted so much to be loved by those who sought to destroy Him. I believe that He forgave them, that He held no bitterness nor hatred toward them. And I believe that, in the

irony of it all. His love was stronger than their hate. 1 believe that to this very day the moM powerful weapon in the universe is the power of love of the Galilean Carpenter. 1 believe there is no weapon anywhere that make a dent in it. And 1 believe that the only cure, yes I said the only cure, to the basic troubles of the world today is the application of that love in our lives. I am convinced that it has always been and will continue to be His will for us to love one another like He loves us. He Lives Yes, I believe that He did arise from the grave. I believe that He was fully dead when removed from the cross and placed in the tomb. And I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that He conquered death with life, that He came alive again and lives today and will live forever. Add to that my belief that it is His greatest wish for us that we live that life with Him here and now and in the life that is beyond death. No, I cannot explain it. No one can. But 1 can experience it. Everyone can. No, I’m not perfect. I am a miserable creature, unworthy of anything on my own merits. But 1 have a Saviour, and therefore I no longer need to depend on my own merits—only my faith. Laugh. Snicker. Call me stupid. I guess that is the highest compliment you could pay me. But don’t do it too loud. It could be that one day you might share my beliefs. —Five Star Features
•t I I The Bible's Answer: RESURRECTION Now if Christ be preached that He rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? ... I Corinthians 15:12. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? . . . John 11:25, 26. Thought: Don’t wait until Easter Sunday to think of the resurrection, think of it today. For the cross and the empty tomb are not separate entities, they combine to form heaven’s hallmark of faith, a faith that tirumph over death, to grave and eternal punishment. CHURCH Saint Andrew’s United Methodist Mrs. George Kenyon will pickup at the corner of Main and Huntington streets during April. Unity circle will meet Thursday at 1 p.m. in the church parlor. Mrs. Raymond Wilson will be the hostess. Mrs. Royal Neff of Indianapolis will be the guest speaker. Mary circle will not meet this Thursday. Trinity circle will meet at 1 p. m. in the home of Mrs. Edith Rhode. Maundy Thursday service will begin at 7:30 p.m.; holy communion and music by the chancel choir. Mrs. Agnes Stiffler, vice president, conducted the business meeting when tentative plans were made for the Firemen’s Dinner on April 24. Plans were discussed for the dinner which will include a special program. Mrs. Lydia Darr and Mrs. Vivian Priddy were hostesses for the evening. There were 16 present including two new members, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Diehl. The hostesses for the April 10 meeting will be Mrs. Ella Unrue and Mrs. Nora Firestone. Games were played following dinner. GOES BY TRAIN TO VISIT Mrs. Ida Hibschman of Syracuse went by train to Garrett March 22 where she visited her son, Herman Jensen, and family. Her daughter, Mrs. Donald Lower, and family of Toledo, Ohio, were also visitors in the Jensen home. After watching the state tourney on television they enjoyed colored pictures of Hawaii, taken by the Lower girls on their recent vacation trip. The Lowers brought Mrs. Hibschman home Sunday afternoon and visited Mr. Lower’s sister and family, the Dale Parrs at Angola, before returning to Toledo.
