'Chet* Kammerer Vice President Os NCCAA Glen “Chet” Kammerer, head basketball and baseball coach at Grace college, has been elected vice president of the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association. Kammerer was elected to the post last week during the national tournament of the NCCAA in Chattanooga, Tenn. Kammerer, who earned the B. A. frcm Grace college and the M. A. from Ball State university, is director of physical education and ■as assistant professor of physical education at Grace. He has been on the staff of the school since 1964. His Lancer basketball squad this year finished with a 21-11 record and placed fifth in the NCCAA championship tournament. The NCCAA, now in its third year, includes some 33 colleges, each of which must enroll 1,100 students or less at the time of membership. Grace this year has 562 students. Other officers elected include Norm Wilhelmi of King’s college in New York, president ; and Hal Murdock of Gordon college in Massachusetts, secre-tary-treasurer. Azusa Pacific College of California won the national NCCAA tournament last week. Grace’s Jerry Ryman was named to the all-tour-ney first team. The name of the firm will be the Syracuse Ready - Mix, Division of North Webster Lumber Company. The firm will service the entire area for all cement needs, and will be open six days a week, starting Tuesday, April 1. Lancer Basketball Camp To Be Held At Grace Head basketball coach at Grace college, Glen “Chet” Kammerer, announced this week the advent of the first annual “Lancer Basketball Camp” this summer. Two separate camps will be held July 13-19 and July 2026 for boys who have completed grades 4-8. Kammerer, a native of Leesburg and himself a standout athlete at Grace college, is the founder and director of the camp. While in college he was named to the NAIA All-American team, and traveled to the Orient one summer with the Venture for Victory Squad. Since coaching at Grace, his teams have won 68 and lost 43, and he has a sincere interest in seeing young talent developed to its full potential. Four guest coaches will serve as instructors throughout the camps. Dave Dillon, a former basketball and football star at the University of Illinois, has been head basketball coach at Sturgis, Mich., for the last 21 years and has had winning teams the last nine seasons. Keith Dougherty, head coach at Elkhart high school, is a highly respected coach in Northern Indiana, having had many winning seasons in his former coaching position at Nappanee high school. “Boag” Johnson, head coach at Warsaw high school, is a former professional basketball player who has a 148-48 record as Warsaw coach. Tom Sittier, head coach at Pierceton high school, was captain of his team at Valparaiso university and has had 12 winning seasons in his 13 years of coaching. Enrollment each week is limited to 70 boys. Details may be obtained from coach Kammerer at Grace college. $1,500 Damage To Aqua-Land Motel Tuesday The Syracuse firemen were called to the Aqua-Land Motel at 9:08 a.m. Tesday, where one of the units was ablaze. The motel owned by Jack Schlotterback is located on SR 13 south of Syracuse. The bed, chair and paneling in one unit and smoke damage in other units caused an estimated $1,500 damage. Cause of the fire was given as clothes drying on a heating unit. Educational Chiropratic Seminar Attended By Area Doctor Dr. Elmer Denlinger of 4141 south Main street, Dunlap, recently returned from Fort Worth, Texas, where he participated in the Seminar and Congress on Research conducted by the Parker Chiropractic Research Foundation. During the Seminar, research reports were studied pointing up the valuable results achieved in cases of headache of both the migraine and non-migraine variety as well as backache, nervousness, and other conditions frequently encountered by the chiropractor in daily practice.

Milford Man Pinned Between Tractor-Trailer Max Evans of Milford was injured Monday morn ng, March 17, while working at Regent Homes Corporation, Syracuse. He was attempting to he ok a trailer to a tractor when the clutch slipped on the tractor ind he was pinned between tractor and trailer. Following admissijn to the Goshen hospital, X-rays showed that there were no broken bones but some muscle tissue was torn. He has been released from the hospital. SUPT. RETZ MEETS MEN The new Kosciusko county highway superintendent-engineer, Burton Retz, paid a visit to the county highway garage Monday afternoon. He was accompanied and introduced to the employees by Harvey Anglin, president of the board of county commissioners. Superintendent Ret:, who was hired on March 3, by the commissioners, is terminating his employment with the Fort Wayne department of the Indiana State highway this week. He will commence his duties with this county on April 1. JR. GIRL SCOUT TR00P225 MEETS The Junior Girl Scoit troop 225 held their investiture on March 22, at the Milford Christian church with 36 Girl Scouts receiving their Girl Scout and World Association pir.s. The flag ceremony was performed by Starr Mcrtin, Lonna Wolferman, Julie Method and Linda Herr. The cmdlelighting ceremony was performed and Patty Wolf gave the Girl Scout promise. One candle was lighted for each Girl Scout law, making a total of 10 being lighted. The girls then served refreshments to their families. UNDERGOES EYE SURGERY Mrs. Harry Phend is a patient in a hospital in Bloomington, 111., where she had surgery for a detached retina in the right eye on March 12. Following releasemmt from the hospital Mrs. Phend plans to stay with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Laymon, of Normal, 111., for approximately one month.

ENGAGED — Announcement of the engagement of Miss Dianna Lou Evans and Royce James Myers is made by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur R. Evans, 208 East Walnut street, Nappanee. Mr. Myers is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chet Warren of r 2 Syracuse. Miss Evans is a graduate of Nappanee high school and is currently employed by Penn Controls, Goshen. Her fiance is a graduate of North Webster High school and he is employed by Penn Controls, also. Miss Evans is the granddaughter of Mrs. Alta Evans of Milford and Mrs. Gertrude Fisher of Nappanee. A summer wedding is being planned by the couple. MILFORD LOCAL Mrs. Harry Baumgartner, Cissna Park. 111., spent Monday and overnight with her daughter, Mrs. Harold Kaiser, and family at Milford. Mrs. Baumgartner left for Parma, Ohio, Tuesday, to visit her sen, Wendall Baumgartner, and family. She came from Winfield, 111., where she had been visiting another son, Donald, and family. Returning from Parma, she will again come to the Kaiser home.
