Rev. Donald Dunn Speaker At Lions Meeting The Leesburg Lions hsld their March dinner meeting Thursday night at the United Methodist church. Art Smith, president presided at the meeting. Rev. Donald Dunn presented the program on the Sioux Indians of South Dakota. He spent two years in the mission there with them and he told of their customs. One of the Indiana Lions projects is CARE and he told of a community room being built with the money for one tribe of Indians w here they could meet and have a social time together. A question and answer period followed. There were 36 members and the guest speaker present. —LLydia Circle Meets at Faurote Home The Lydia circle of WSCS met Wednesday night with Mrs. Max Faurote at Warsaw with 11 members present. Meditations were given by Mrs. David Gosser and the program by Mrs. Art Smith. Plans were made for the salad bar to be held March 31 for all circles with the ladies of the Clunette United Methodist church as guests. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Celebrates Birthday Mrs. John Bell. Mrs. Pat Murphy. Mrs. Byron Myers. Mrs. Robert Allen and Mrs. Robert Shively enjoyed a birthday dinner in honor of Mrs. Shively at a restaurant Tuesday. Initiation Held at Eastern Star Tuesday Night Mrs. Hester Felton, worthy matron, opened the meeting of chapter 287 order of eastern star Tuesday night by reading a poem. Initiation was held for Mr. and Mrs. Doug Mock and Frank Rader with Mrs. Rader a walking candidate. The star points were honored with a reading by the worthy matron. She also read a story of the labyrith. Robert Bishoo was soloist of the evening. The chapter room was decorated in the colors and flowers of the star points by Mrs. Herschel Albert and Mrs. Morris Huffman. The dining room tables were decorated with green shamrocks. yellow crepe paper and green candles. Saint Patrick’s day napkins and plates were also used. Mrs. Chris Kammerer decorated the dining room. Refreshments of tuna fish salad, crackers, stuffed celerv. cookies and coffee were served by Chris Ryan. Susie Reed. Ruth Butler. Jean McNabb and Esther Bodkin. At the next meeting March 25 the December. January. February and March birthdays will be honored and it will be advance night. Mrs. Jean Gift and Morris Huffman will be installed as worthv matron and worthy patron and the officers to serve with them at an open meeting March 29 at 8 p.m. DISTRICT II MEETING OF EXTENSION HOMEMAKERS CLUBS A district II meeting of the extension hememakers clubs was held last Thursday at the Moose lodge in Huntington. All county officers from this area attended but Mrs. Kim Derf. second vice president, who was absent because of illness. Mrs. Donald Boggs, a member of the international committee, gave the report on district II which she represents. MARCH MEETING OF HOMEMAKERS CLUB Wednesday night, members of the Leesburg Homemakers club answered roll call by telling an Irish joke at a meeting held at the home of Mrs. Hosea Rosbrough. flag and repeating the creed. Mrs. Herschel Albert gave the meditations and Mrs. Max Anglin the Health and Safety remarks. Mrs. Chris Kammerer reviewed the song “My Wild Irish Rose” and all joined in singing the song. Mrs. Everett Tom read the secretary report. Decorating the Home for Entertaining was the lesson given by Mrs. Kammerer. The meeting was closed by repeating the club collect. Refreshments in keeping with Saint Patrick's day were served bv the hostesses. - L—FARM BUREAU TRIP TO INDIANAPOLIS Wednesday morning three busses will leave Warsaw with farm bureau members to attend the 50th anniversary of the farm bureau held at the fair grounds at Indianapolis. A box lunch will be served enroute. In the afternoon secretary of agriculture Hardin will be the speaker. There will be a banquet in the evening followed by an entertainment of TV personalities in the coliseum. Those attending from this vicinity are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Boggs, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Brubaker. Present Drama At United Methodist Church A drama “Cry Dawn in Dark Babylon” was presented Sunday at the United Methodist church by Goshen college students of Dr. Roy Umble. It was directed by Miss Phyllis Lehman. The message was on death and resurrection. v On March 23 at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Donald Abbey of the Warsaw Trinity United Methodist church will be guest speaker. Leesburg WMC Meets At Winona Lake Mrs. Marlin Rose was hostess Monday night to members of the Leesburg WMC at her home at Winona Lake. Mrs. Donald Quine served as leader. Mrs. Darrell Anderson gave the Bible study and Mrs. Ron Guiles the missionary study. Plans were discussed fcr the mother and daughter banquet. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Mrs. Smoker Hostess To Literary Club Mrs. Charles Smoker was hostess on Monday night to 12 members of the Literary club. Devotions were given by Mrs. Carl Richey and Mrs. Smoker was in charge of the program. Mrs. Smoker is leader of the Plain Farmerettes. She had Amy Ferverda demonstrate the making of a dessert, Debbie Smoker a cheese roll and Cathy Smoker on how to make paper flowers. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrk Alvin Walker. COMMUNITY NEWS Mrs. Merrit Rookstool, Mrs. Bernice Watkins and 7 Mrs. Carl Richey took ice and cake in honor of the biTthday of Mrs. Iman Rookstool to Millers Merry Manor and all enjoyed it together in the rcom of Iman RookstOol. Lisa Frederickson who has been seriously ill at the Goshen hospital is improved. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Art Frederickson. Mr. and Mrs. Harold McKibben visited his aunt. Mrs. Bertha McKibben, at Warsaw Sunday afternoon. , Mr. and Mrs. Herb Metge had dinner at a restaurant near Bristol Sunday. They were also in Bristol on business.
Mrs. Fannie Smith is ill at her home in Oswego. Mrs. Manda Stackhouse was a Sunday dinner guest of Mrs. Myrtle Roberts and Mrs. Cora Gall. Sgt. Byrd Frederickson spent Wednesday night and Thursday with her mother. Mrs. Bertha Frederickson. She is stationed at Fort Riley. Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bowker and family of New Carlisle were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Garman. They all visited Mrs. John Moneyheffer who is a patient at the Goshen hospital. She had surgery Thursday and expects to be released Wednesday or Thursday to her home. Mrs. Anna Bishop is ill at her home. Mrs. Cora Gall is staying with her this week. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wq/ds and family of Warsaw were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Junior Goon. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Goon of Clunette were supper guests and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Brown were evening callers. Mr. and Mrs. Esta Yocum spent Sunday afternoon with Walter Hire at New Paris and with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hunsberger and sons of r Milford. Susie Blue spent Friday with Lynn Helvey. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hartman entertained at a turkey dinner Sunday in honor of the birthday of Mrs. Hugh McCann. Others attending were Hugh Me Cann, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hartman. Sherri and Kerri. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Kammerer were Sunday evening guests. The birthdays of Barbara Teepie, Marcia Teeple and Ray McCartney and the wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry McCartney were honored Sunday with a dinner at ths home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray McCartney in Warsaw. Ones attending were the Jerry McCartneys. The Robert Teeples and the Melvin Weiricks. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Fisher of Milford and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Tom and Peggy Jo were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Waiver of Bell Rohr Park. Mrs. Richard Vanator spent Thursday with ,Mr. and Mrs. George Armbruster of r Warsaw. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Joy and family of Winona Lake were Saturday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Blue and family. Rev. Donald Worch will be special speaker at the Oswego Calvary Baptist church Sunday. He is in charge of the Baptist Children’s Home near. Culver. It is one of the missionary projects of the Oswego church. Rev. Worch will speak in the morning service and will show slides in the evening. Everyone is invited to attend. Miss Peggy Jo Tom spent two days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Adams of Akron. Jerry Teeple, a member of the Grace College choir, will tour with the choir and the brass choir in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and

Zoning Os Buildings Recommended The Syracuse town plan commission met Thursday night. President Joseph Gray presided. Michael Hernicz and realtor Jack Nash were present and applied for zoning on a four-unit apartment building. The board passed the motion recommending the interested parties to appear before the board of zoning appeals. The plan commission recommended it to be considered. A letter from the town board attorney had enclosed an ordinance to amend section three of an ordinance providing for the issuance of improvement location permits was read. The ordinance was discussed and referred back to the town board. Attending with Mr. Gray and the above mentioned were Joe Hughes, attorney Reed, Willard Nusbaum, Harold Kuhn, Mrs. Frank Bates, Donald Niles, Harry Van Hemert, Ronald Sharp and Bud Miller. Kindergarten Round-Up Set For Monday, March 31 Robert D. Hamman, principal of Syracuse elementary school, has announced that his school will hold its annual kindergarten roundup on Monday, March 31, at 7 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria. All children who are to be in kindergarten at Syracuse next fall should attend this meeting with parents or guardians. In order to qualify for kinder-, garten, a child must be five years old on or before September 1. A legal birth certificate is required for proof bf a child’s age. Parents must bring the legal birth certificate with them to the roundup. In order to attend Syracuse elementary school, the child must reside with the parents or guardian within the boundaries cf Turkey Creek township.

Milford Boys’ State Candidates
The three Milford boys named last week as Milford’s Boys’ Stater and alternates art pictured here. All are juniors at Wawasee high school. Dana Haab, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Haab of i 2, was chosen delegate while John Leemon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Leemon, was named first alternate and Dennis Replogle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Repl ogle, was named second alternate. The tentative agenda for the kindergarten roundup is as follows: Opening remarks and welcome by Mr. Hamman. Remarks about health by Mrs. Frances Eby, school nurse. Remarks about kindergarten by Mrs. Delores Hearn and Miss Karen Hollingsworth, kindergarten teachers. Completion of enrollment forms. Leisure tour of both kindergarten rooms by parents and students.
