Anyone who expresses an interest in nursing or other health careers may join. Officers Officers of the club are as follows: President — Peggy Ridings • Vice president — Melinda Moore Secretary — Nancy Yoder Treasurer — Carla Speicher The organization meets two times each month. Once for a business meeting and the second time for a social meeting in the members homes, tours or trips. As projects for the year they have served as Candy Stripers, sold Christmas and Easter seals and visited nursing homes. The club is composed of an executive committee and a program committee with the program committee being broken down into service, field trip, project and social. Headquarters for the state organization is in Indianapolis. It serves as a clearing house for assembly and distribution of current information concerning health careers and develops and supplies said information to health career clubs. It also stimulates interest through continuing statewide publicity and promotion by helping administrators and guidance personnel to become aware of the need for

the potential in health career and by chartering clubs like the one at Wawasee. The school’s newspaper is called the “Smoke Signals”. Attend dedication services on March 9 at 2 p.m.

FFA Girls Are Active At WHS The Future Homemakers of America are active girls at Wawasee high school who have or are now taking home ec courses. FHA is a national organization. It is incorporated, non-pro-fit and supported by membership dues. Membership in its organization is voluntary. FHA provides opportunities for developing individual and group initiative in planning and carrying out activities related to the dual role of homemaker and wageearner. Goals are to help individuals improve personal, family and community living with projects of the local club organized along these lines. The girls at Wawasee meet once each month for a business meeting and once each month for a social, educational ♦ or philantispic meeting. They have enjoyed floral arranging, trips to nursing homes, Daddydate night and are planning a spring tea. For projects they have sold jewelry and favorite recipe cook books. They also operated the coat check at the basketball games this past year. FHA is sponsored by the U.S. office of education through its home economics education ' program. The American Home Economics Association is co-sponsor. Officers Serving as officers of this year’s chapter are the following girls: President — Carolyn Long Vice president — Cindy Huber Secretary — Pam Willard Treasurer — Vicki Mehl Reporter — Kathy Searfoss Historian — Becky Eyer Parlimentarian — Ellen Freeman Recreation leader — Janice Hamell Project chairman — Patsy Barrett Mrs. Betty Arthur and Mrs. Jan Baumgartner are co - sponsors of the organization. Points are earned for awards by the projects worked on, committee work, officer participation and state meetings attended. Seniors are awarded an engraved silver tray or dressmakers’ shears. FHA colors are red and white with red suggesting strength and white suggesting sincerity. The organization’s flower is the red rose.
