high school was enlarged to include a new and larger gymnasium where both county and sectional tournaments were played for several years, a band and music area. An earlier addition had given the school a shop area and a later addition created a modern science laboratory. Lakeland and Wawasee The Lakeland Community School Corporation was formed in 1962 by the communities of Milford, North Webster, Syracuse and Leesburg. When Leesburg withdrew in 1966 to join the Warsaw schools the other three remained and continued to plan for the future and what was to become Wawasee high school. In the fall of 1968 Wawasee high school opened her doors and June 1 will see the first class to graduate from her bright and shinv halls. As the small schools of the 1830’s grew to the present elementary and junior high school building located in the several communities so shall Wawasee grow in the future — ever searching for the best for all who cross her threshold.
