Milford Girl Scouts Prepare For Girl Scout Week • March 9-15
Members of Milford's newly formed girl scout troop are preparing fcr national girl scout week which will be March 9-15. The girls meet on Monday between 3:15 and 4:30 in the fellowship room of the Christian church. They have a total enrollment of 39 girls in the junior girl scouts, grades four through six, and cadettes, grades seven through nine. Leaders are Mrs. Robert Nordin and Mrs. Bill Tyler. Beiswanger Heads United Methodist Men Members of the United Methodist Men of the Milford church elected officers as foltows on February 27: President — Arlo Beiswanger. Vice president — Robert Brown Secretary-treasurer — Richard Felkner. During the meeting it was voted to have members phone delinquent members prior to the meetings. A ladies night was also planned for March 20. The group plans to leave the church at 6:15 for a Bristol restaurant and begin eating at 7 p.m. Prime rib and roast beef with all the trimmings will be featured. Reservations should be called to Vernon Stutzman. RECOVERING FROM SURGERY Ralph Miller, who has been ill with a back injury, underwent back surgery a week ago. His condition is progressing satisfactorily and he will be released from the Elkhart hospital on Thursday. MRS. Investure Services Held Sunday For Milford Brownie Troop
Members Os Milford’s new Brownie troop attended investure services at the fire station on Sunday with their parents. The girls have been meeting each Monday in the elementary school with leader Mrs. Ronald Kreider and assistant Mrs. Thomas Dye. Helpsrs are Mrs. Jack McCormick, Mrs. T. A. Miller, Mrs. Jacob Jackson and Mrs. Evar Troup. To date the group does not have a sponsor. Thus far they have planted a dish garden and are watching the seeds grow and worked on the program which they presented on Sunday when pins were received. The girls served cookies at the close of Sunday’s meeting. Great-Granddaughter Os Mrs. Poe Is ‘Girl Os The Month’ Miss Christi Neterer, Huntington, great-granddaughter of Mrs. Cornelia Poe of Milford, has been named Girl of the Month by the Huntington Exchange club. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Neterer of 680 Flaxmill road, and is a student at Center Upper elementary school. Christi’s grandmother is Mjrs. Clifton Parcell of Elkhart, formerly of this area. Her mother is the former Joy Poe, a Milford, high school graduate. The Girl of the Month is an A student at Center Upper and is treasurer of the school’s congress and of the eighth grade class. She has been a cheerleader for the past three years. Christi’s hobbies are music, reading, drawing, swimming and baton twirling. She is a member of Trinity United Methodist church and plans to become an elementary math teacher.
